I called the TA a bit ago and of course got her voice mail. I left a message. My husband said give her the rest of the day to call back. She works until 6:00. If we don’t hear from her, then I will call the main TA number tomorrow plus get in touch with our congressman. Her message on her voice mail says she will return our call in one business day, but I am not giving her until tomorrow because I already called her last Wednesday and left a message and she still hasn’t returned that call, so she had her chance at the “one business day.”

@katmill2369 If there is basically nothing wrong with your return, why would they have to do an Inquiry? Is this where you would get a TA? My return was “assigned” to someone over 2 weeks ago. Go figure. If anyone else has got the same “Received by the IRS Date 2/14/13” please let us know if your status has changed on wmr.

        Thanks

@tiredofwaiting99 I basically got the same thing. My return FINALLY got assigned someone last week! My rep was really nice and said that it *should* be done this week and if there was no change on WMR or the offset line to call back on Monday ( I’m calling Friday since that is one day passed my 11 weeks hehe) and they can “officially” put in the inquiry. I’m trying to avoid it as it gives them another 30 days to get it done. My rep did say that they are trying really hard to get everyone’s stuff done in the 11 week time frame so I should at least see a change in status this week. 2-3 weeks after that for the money…..

@brokeandfrustrated I thought it was funny too!

Well I could not wait until Thursday @katmill2369 I called this morning to find out what was going on, I got a really nice person on the phone, she did look into my return and said you have to wait until the full 11th week (Thurdays) before they will do anything. She said that she could see that my return was being processed by the department that is doing the IS but she did not see an “Allocation and Date” which means it is not closed yet, but there were no other problems with my return.

Is this the same crap you are getting? She told me to call next week and they would see why it was not closed. She also said there were no reasons why my allocation has not be made before now. If I call next we and it is still open only then will they do something. Boo! Hoo! Karnsarnit and Dag-nabit, Heavens to Murgatroid!

Did they tell you the same thing too? I am calling back Friday! I don’t understand why this is taking so long. Our returns are in limbo seems like. Why would they not just complete and close the return.

            Exit Stage Left!

Thanks guys, you’re so awesome even though I know you are totally pi$$ed at the IRS :-) i am going to be doing nothing but free stuff every weekend until hubby gets home, we are saving up to take a lovely trip somewhere far away from “reality” , and the Army lol. WT heck is going on with these TA’s? If it were me and they weren’t calling me back, I would call the TA main office and literally refuse to hang up until someone helped me. Maybe it will freak them out enough to get you a supervisor and maybe she/he will be freaked out enough to take action. Something I also saw this weekend was that people are going to the White House website and sending letters to the President…just some food for thought. I hope you all have a happy Monday, and I hope the IRS has a productive Monday.

Thank you @katmill2369 no update on wmr this morning and the same message on the 1-800 304-3107 number that you refund “MAY BE OFFSET” Bah Humbug!!!! last year when I called this number they gave you the date and the amount that was OFFSET. Has anyone got an updated message this year for IS that the offset has occured?

Also, has anybody seen a change on wmr status when this has occured. I know last year I got my IS refund and wmr did not update.

I don’t plan to call until Thursday.

No updates, no dd. Will check mail later today. If I get out of work on time I will attempt to call TA and “Main TA”.

@brokeandfrustrated I am with you. I was told to call the main TA line through the IRS and tell them that the TA assigned to your case is not in contact with you and you would like to know the status of your refund. If they don’t answer you call the congressman, be ready to fax a consent form back to them, just telling you so you can get it done in 1 day instead of that taking days as well.

@purple33 Checks only sent on Fridays? Seriously? Is it that hard to send checks out every day. UGH!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, I have been following along for a couple weeks now and decided to finally register and greet everyone. We filed on February 2, and our return was accepted on February 7. Our official 11 weeks was up last Friday but when I spoke to someone they refused to push through a referral until today because they had until ‘the end of business’ that day to get it done. It’s no surprise that our return is ‘still processing’ this morning. She put in our referral earlier this morning and said that they now have another 30 days to even contact me! I’m so upset and stressed. My daughter’s birthday is this weekend and we are flat broke! Our house payment is only current because we borrowed money from family. I tried getting a TA, but they refused to help us because we can’t PROVE hardship. :(

Last year was our first year filing the IS form because of my student loans (my husband is the sole income earner) and we did not know about the offset. We filed the end of January, filed our IS form a couple weeks later and had our money by mid-April.

Hi @mylij831 if your husband was the only income, and you DO NOT live in a community property state, and the offset is yours, then yes you should receive the entire refund. You can google the community property states, but I believe they are Louisiana, Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Wisconsin might have forgotten one so please look it up to be sure good luck to you :-)

No change on WMR this morning and no money deposited in the bank. TA did not return my call last week. I am going to call her this afternoon and if I get her voice mail then I am getting in touch with my congressman. I am so tired of this. :( I second your “ugh” @katmill2369.

So here’s my story, and a question to follow.

We filed our taxes through HRBlock 3/8, and the were accepted a couple of days later. A couple of weeks later we found out about the offset. They are for my student loans, but I didn’t work at all last year so we mailed in the IS form on 4/4 (I know, I have quite the wait ahead of me). My question is this, what do you think I can expect my refund to be? Do they still use part of the earned income credit/ child tax credits to go toward my student loans, or would we still get the full refund since my husband was the only one employed? And also, do the returns get processed faster if you mail the IS form in after you file the original return? Does it come by check, or DD? I know we have a long ways to go, I just wonder what I should expect when/if the money actually comes. I ordered my transcripts tonight, so hopefully they will give me some useful information.

                                            TIA!

Hi everyone! Quick question: our 11 weeks is up May 7th & we called yesterday bc nothing has changed on the WMR site since the orange bars went away or the offset line at all. WMR continues to say Return being processed blah blah….refund date blah blah blah & I filed the IS form with return thru TT electronically so the offset line has always said Found current debt, return MAY BE offset. When we called yesterday the guy said it had just been worked on Wednesday 24th, but he couldn’t tell what had been done. He told us, as well as another agent 2 weeks prior, that we should see something by May 7th. Anyone care to speculate what may have been “worked on”? Will the offset line change status or just stay the same since it never went into offset mode bc of filing IS with the return?

UGH! It’s sooooo frustrating! I am totally empathetic & sympathetic to everyone’s frustration & financial hardships. I am glad to see that some of the group are finally seeing some progress & refunds. We filed 2010 & 2011 back in October & both of them only took 42 days & 63 days.

Everytime I called I got that same response you need to wait 11 weeks. Finally I got a guy who actually looked at it and told me he was putting in a referral that could take up to 30 days. grrrr this is so frustrating! This is my fifth or sixth year doing injured spouse and the second time it has taken past the 11 week mark. Mine should have been simple to do. My husband has the debt and only I had income not community prop state no education credit or home credits. I e-filed, sent my form with it and it was accepted Feb 5th or 7th. Depends on who you talk to. I talked to a woman at about 9 1/2 week mark and she said it was just waiting to be released. This is just crazy

The extension that I meant was if the IS dept. doesn’t get it done in 11 weeks, they give themselves another 8 weeks. At least that’s how I understood it yesterday. As for your issue, I would call like Weds of next week and see what the deal is. It’s your 11th week technically and they should have SOME info. That’s what I plan on doing anyway.

Stay strong fellow IS’ers!! As @whatthebleep has said, it WILL end eventually.

What is the purpose of having the TA? When I called last week injured spouse department had it but it was still “open” I am not sure what that means. My 11Th week is May 2nd. Her words to me were if you have not “received” anything by then to call back.

Whai should we believe? I will not call back until 5-3-13 if I have not received anything.

According to her, and the rep I talked to yesterday, NOTHING has been done on my return. They accepted it and sent it to IS and that’s it. Nothing else. My 11 weeks are up May 2nd but I’m starting to feel like I’ll be one of the ones they stick another 8 weeks onto for an “extension.” Oh well. Moving on. Maybe something nice will happen next week but I’m not holding my breath.

You if we owed money to the IRS they would not hesitate to get their money from you and charge you penalty and interest for not paying on time. I am encouraged by @whatthebleep said that it may be a bad day not a bad life, we are in the land of the living so there is hope for all of us.

Some people are going through worse things than just waiting for their money, not to minimize your pain, but think about the people in West, Tx. who lost everything in that explosion. They lost everything and it will take months to rebuild. I am grateful that nothing like that has every happen to me. Or think about those people in Boston who lost limbs.

Things always have a way of working out if we are patient, tomorrow will always come. Just focus on the positive things you have going on. The times we are in right now are quite scary and uncertain, but look for the good in every situation. Delay is not denial it will come. You may have 3 dollars in the bank, but if you look closer you will find that you have much more to be thankful for. I pray that your money will come soon, and for everyone else who is waiting.

Didnt someone say they got some answers by calling their TA’s supervisor? Or maybe that was on a different forum. Either way i know you can call the TA 800 number and ask to speak with your TA’s boss and they should be able to help.

He told me, definitively, that you count the 11 weeks from when your return was ACCEPTED. So 2/14 for me, and that unfortunately for me my return has not been touched thus far. My 11 weeks is up on May 2nd. He also said that the IRS is super backlogged this year, mainly because of the education credits, and are trying desperately to catch up. So if you guys want try calling I would seriously recommend this guy. He was seriously wonderful. Hope everyone has better news later/tomorrow.

She said my taxes are in IS department and are being processed and I wouldn’t know anything for 11 weeks. I didnt want to push my luck so I just asked another simple question “When will my 11 weeks be up. I just want to know incase I don’t hear back” She said May 13th.

So alittle over two weeks and I call again :) Will keep everyone posted!

No deposit, no change to the WMR site, 11 weeks will be up on Monday the 29th. Fingers crossed!!!

I just spoke with a IS rep today 4/25/13 She was very nice. But they only can tell you if they got the money for the person who has the offset only (my husband) they had not received anything from the IRS as of the today. But you can speak with a live person. if you follow the options above. So after the 11 weeks are up then I will begin calling the 800-304-3107 once you hear that an “offset was sent to” whatever agency it should go to, the IS portion will be sent out at the same time by the IRS. :-)

                                                                                                        Hope that helps.

The check was cut and sent in the mail yesterday. I should get the check in a day or two, but I have to wait up to ten days. The check was sent out in my city so it shouldn’t take that long. I hope the best for everyone else. My prayers are with you all.

Thank you for all of your answers. You know I did electronically file my 8379 along with my tax return. Last year I did it at the same time, but got the IS refund back earlier. Do you remember that too? Last year on the WMR status I did get that 800-829-0582 Ext. 362 specifically called them regarding my return. This year I got no such message. Don’t know if thats good or bad just saying the differences between this year and last year.

As I stated earlier last year I got my IS refund and I went back to WMR stated that it was still processing.

My daughter did a regular tax return dd this year and she got it just after 21 days with the WMR giving the ddds. Why does it not show the progress bars on WMR for IS processing?

                                                                                                              Just wondering…hmmmm

So like in @maximo2 I don’t know, but I bet his cycle date was something like 20130605 or anything smaller before it changed to 20131105..but these are just my opinions..nothing else :-)

From jan 1 it’s feb 19, 2013. I’m going to tell you what I’ve been thinking but only take this with a grain of salt because I’m no tax expert, I’m thinking the cycle date is the last time your return was “cycled” through the IMF system. I think it only tracks processing through IMF and IMF alone. The other processing date march 4, represents the day that your return was picked up by a person in the injured spouse department and began the manual process to calculate what you should receive. The midlle 3 digits in the number under code 150 are your Jillian date. For this you will calculate 440-365= 75 which if you count 75 days from jan 30, you get April 15, which in a theory I recently found means the IRS has until march 6, to get you your refund if they stay inside the 21 day window allotted for normal refund processing, which is what you enter once your Jillian date is up if you e-filed you form 8379, if you mailed it in then then your Jillian date is probably much higher…please do not base any financial decisions on this or think in any way that what I am saying is absolute truth these are just my opinions, and mine alone , nothing more and nothing less. I hope some of this makes sense to you..

I called the IRS today and was told they finished processing my injured spouse claim and that the case was closed. Was told I would have to wait 2 – 4 weeks to receive my refund. Will I really have to wait this long? As anyone else been told their case is closed received their money before then. Thanks.

Some say it starts jan1st and it is only the day your return was received, but I have seen several cases where this is impossible and the math does not work..for example @maximo2 accepted 2/14 but cycle date is 20131105.. Which proves that theory completely wrong..others say it starts as of jan 30- so if yours was 20131005 it would be 10 weeks from jan 30 and 05 means thurs. what they represent no one knows for sure? It has to mean something, but I have been told its only for irs use and are of no use to us….sorry so long :-)

The first time I spoke with a rep using the 800-829-0582 ext 362 number she told me the IRS accepted 2/14/13 and my 11th week is May 2nd which happens to be on a Thurdsay. Could someone please give me an overview of what the cycle dates mean. I am going to my po box today and will need this information when I look at my transcript.

I have been a silent spectator for a few weeks now but thought I will chip in my 2 cents. I filed first week of February but due to education credits wasn’t accepted till 2/14
Now hearing about how some people get theirs sooner then others I was thinking if it is the same things as it is at any other office. There are diligent workers vs the lazy bums who pretend they are working. If your case got picked up by some lazy bum he/she might take forever vs someone who is super efficient and picking up everyone else slack. Who knows? I guess we are coming up with theories to vent our frustrations :)

I received mine 8 weeks 2 days after being accepted. Accepted 2/23, irs said started actual processing on 2/28 and then went to injured spouse dept on 3/18..got money 4/22. Maybe we should all post our dates again? It would probably help a lot of people so they don’t have to go back through all of the old posts?

My 11th week is May 2nd and it is on a Thursday. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone received their IS refund before 11 weeks?
