I hope this is not the case for you but last year when this happened to me we were sent an ID verification letter. Not only did we ID verify and then wait but when we called back they made me sit on the phone for an hour just to find out we had to do it again because they didn’t actually remove the block properly with the first representative I verified through. It seems common when your bars dissapeared that you will have to ID verify but it may not be the case every time.
I filed the last day of January. Received ID verify letter on February 27th and called the next day and verified by phone. Was told to wait 9 weeks. Called again last week on the 5th just to be told that whoever helped with the verification never removed the taxpayer protection so i had to do it again and then get transferred to another department that had something to do with fraud risk. I verified everything again with them by phone once transferred. So the whole time I was waiting due to them not doing their job correctly. In the meantime i would check WMR and one day my status disappeared and it said my info could not be found. I tried putting in single like others suggested and it worked. Still showed processing. About a month ago my filing status switched back to the correct one and still showed processing. Now when i check the WMR tonight it has went from “we have received your tax return and it is being processed. A refund date will be provided when available” to now just saying “We have received your tax return and it is being processed”. My question is has anyone else had the message change to that and if so is it a good sign? Also to anyone who ID verified i encourage you to call and make sure it was done properly because even the IRS employees admitted it was their mistake and they were seeing this happen a lot where it isn’t properly removed the first time. *Finally updated to dd by the 19th. I encourage people to call because it took them 1 week to fix their mistake after i waited for months.
