This is my boyfriend’s taxes, he filed single with a w2 on 2/2, no EIC or CTC.
His transcripts show no return filed and WMR says “We received your tax return and sent you a letter requesting more information” and haven’t seen a letter. His WMR changed to that last Friday.
Does anyone else have this on their WMR?? I haven’t seen a post about it, worried he’s not gonna get it now. -

Ok so, I checked the transcripts today and no updates although im weekly. I wasn’t really expecting anything but checked anyway. Last year timeline: I filed last week in January and got my refund in April. Had to fax in the W2s as well which I did mid February… I would expect same timeframe this year too

So, I faxed the W2s to IRS yesterday morning and today the WMR status changed to “received and the return is being processed” type of message. They are moving quick I must say.
I’ll check my transcripts tomorrow since im a weekly to see if there are any updates. -

Hi Angie, just to understand exactly… you got the letter on 02/13 and faxed them what they wanted and on 02/14 the status changed to “received and being processed “? That’s pretty quick, one day!

This is so frustrating I wish I knew how long

Ok, so here is an update. Today I got the letter from IRS asking to fax copies of my W2s to verify income and overpayment into the social security over the max yearly allowed by law.
As of right now my 2 bottom transcripts are blank and top 2 are N/A. The letter says they should process my return in 8 weeks. Last year they did it sooner, like 5 weeks or so. We’ll see… the waiting game begins. -

I’ve had this and did receive my letter. It was a 12c letter in my case requesting info for my 1095a and missing 8962 form. I faxed all info and yesterday my wmr updated to we received requested info and is processing my return. My bars are back. I really just hope that’s a good sign. Transcript top 2 still has n/a

Has anyone else gotten this on their WMR tho??
Is that why y’all think it’s id verify, I’ve been searching groups on Facebook and on here and so far I haven’t seen anyone else with it??
It’s definitely to verify something. Just wish the letter would get here. 😭😭 -

{Part 2- sorry so long} So I understand the point, BUT on that phone call you are asked several questions only you would know the answer to, so the letter seems redundant to me. I got my refund a week n a half/2 weeks later. I think my transcripts updated the next week and it was in my account 5 days after that…. Waiting for the letter is what takes the longest with these stupid verify your identity holds.

@whitewolf
I had to do this last year too. I called and they said I had to wait for the letter but they would send another (this was last year)
I got that letter like 5 business days later and verified over the phone, I chitchatted with the lady and she never asked me for the damn number on the letter, so the letter was redundant really… It’s just another way for them to prove that the Name on the refund is at the Address of the refund by sending a letter with a code. -
NO LETTERS! I’m a Pather, accepted 1/22, Eitc, Actc. WMR accepted til 1/27, then “Action Req’d, verify Identity”. Ironically, verifying thru ID.me doesn’t work, even though I’m established there. Transcripts are blank, no return filed. Agent states letter sent on 1/29. Nothing. I’m getting a tax advocate next week if no movement.

Don’t worry. From what I’ve seen/heard it doesn’t actually take that long 99% of the time. It’s usually just a few days after you do your ID verify. The extra wait sucks but it should be fairly quick.
-
It’s probably ID verification. Seems to be doing more of that this year. We have to do ours as well and still waiting on letter. They said letter takes about 3 weeks and then 3-9 weeks for processing after that. It freaking sucks! Still waiting on my letter and we filed about three weeks ago!
