If ID.me verifies your identity to look at tax records, why can’t the IRS use ID.me to verify your identity instead of sending a letter?
To check my transcripts, I need to use ID.me. Why isn’t the simple act of signing in with ID.me to check transcripts enough to verify one’s identity?
Why do they need a letter if ID.me is supposed to be the super-duper proof?
