So every year I file using last paystub, this year I did again. For some reason my W2 was 1 weeks pay off from last paystub. I have to send in w2 to state, but now I know the IRS will need it too. Unfortunately I have PATH issue that’s holding my return so I’m afraid it’s going to take forever to get my refund. Can anyone chime in with experience???

NYS already shows they are sending me a letter and when I called of course it wasn’t sent yet so they can only tell me its for W-2 and being no letter generated yet they cannot give me the numbers I need to submit it yet. I hate to have to wait to submit it the letter can take 2 weeks they said. But I also just read that I can also submit a “letter of despair” with it stating I need my funds as soon as possible – which I do because I have been out of work due to illness for the last 5 weeks. Hopefully that will speed it up a little. Im just now worried about the federal return because I wont know anything until at least net week. I don’t understand why they cant just make the adjustment its only off less than $100 on both returns. Its baffling because I have done it this way for the last 10 years now when I REALLY need the money this happens.
Needless to say I will from now on be waiting for W-2 to avoid this mess in the future!!!

@Jpnbma no they don’t ask you to do that and why does she have to have screwed herself??? If you can’t be helpful can you shut up. People are asking for help not ignorance.
All you have to do is what Andera just said. Wait til you receive the refund still then file amended. Easy and simple. Many have done this.

Just file an amendment after you receive your refund mid feb.

I done the same thing a few years back . I did have to wait for 8 weeks for the remaining $200 to get mailed out though.

                It is nothing major.

It wasn’t about filing early, I just always did it that way….. thanks for your input though!

Not really I always file with my last check stub and be a little off but I still got my refund on time.

Sounds like u screwed yourself just to file early where u wouldn’t get the return til mid feb anyway. Now your gonna wait a month or two for a check to be issued for both, IF they don’t ask for your w2 to be mailed in
