Refund offset

      Called the refund offset line and they provided a number for dept of education and their number. Well the number they provided was disconnected. Call Dept of Education and they state that I have been off the offset treasury list since 2023 with an 0 balance and no idea why they are listed. Any suggestions on why they would have this if I don’t owe them?

          I would get a tax advocate immediately. There are instructions on this forum. If the IRS still has an outstanding offset for you, they will garnish. The process of getting a refund AFTER a garnishment is a year. I speak from experience.
