Hey all, my Ohio state was of course accepted today and says it was received and posted to their system but is currently under manual review and to allow 150 days from the posted date for processing which seems pretty excessive. Is this a normal message or is something wrong?

My state refund is offset for unemployment overpayment but they said it will only affect state refund as the overpayment is due to non fraud on my behalf. Is this accurate?

I filed my taxes January 19th. Got accepted by federal on the 22nd and still haven’t been accepted by state . Not sure why usually I’m accepted the same day by both.

OK, new post for 2024 (2023 tax year)
State site says they will start on 1/29/2024I filed Ohio taxes on 1/19/2024 on the state’s website. No third party software.
On 1/21/2024 the state’s WRM showed received but held for manual review.
Today, 1/22/2024 it now shows processed and sent for direct deposit. DD should be received within 7 business days. I will post when I receive it. -
I had to ID verify and return was processed on 2/3 and now I have the generic 15 day processing time. I wonder if it really takes the entire 2 weeks to receive the refund?

The Ohio “Check My Refund Status” tool updated this evening saying that my refund was released for DD on 3/3 (tomorrow).

I figured it would be slower this year, but it seems to be taking forever. Last year, I had my deposit on Feb. 4, nearly a month sooner.

Just an update: I had a posted on the 25th at lunch time that I still had the processing message.
About 30 minutes after that post I got a text from Netspend that they had received my refund and a few minutes later it was available.
The state site updated yesterday to say that my refund would be released March 1st for DD. -

Ohio updates their refund status web site in evenings around 6, someone else posted that a few days ago and they are correct. Just checked mine and funds get deposited tomorrow 2/14, was processed on 2/5, message was still on 15 day notice earlier today. Hope this helps others who are wondering :)

“Government never processes Returns on Saturdays or Sundays or federal holidays however they will deposit on Friday with funds available on Saturday”

Ohio must be moving fast this year. My return was accepted yesterday 2/8 (at 1 oclock in the morning) and today I checked the WMR and got this message:
“Your return was processed on 02/09/2020. Please allow 15 business days from the process date for the refund to be credited to your account. If the refund is not available after 15 business days, please check the refund status again for a release date.”

They do not take state. The trend has been roughly 7 days after 15 day message. It will update with refund for the next day.they have been updating between 6 and 7 pm. Hope that helps -
My ID quiz was completed 2/4 and I’ve had the “15 day message” since 2/5. Anyone know if TT deducts the advance and fees from the OH state refund? I don’t think they do, but curious. I’m guessing I should see it post on my TT card by the 18th…

Nothing yet on the turbo card. What sucks is its a green dot card and I guess they’re really slow. Alot of people had issues in the past. I know for those of us with DDD 02/06 were probably looking at around 8:30 am IF were lucky.

Filed 1/27 processed 1/28 still states 15 business days. Ohio is usually a smidgen quicker then that – just curious how long it is taking others to get theirs? I did mine on Turbo tax, and bank with 53rd.

Path does not affect state return. The state sight does update but its usually right before the deposit date…I have also recieved my state return before the sight has updated before too. -
On the Ohio tax website does that ever update past saying processed and wait 15 days? Does it normally give a DDD. I have been checking Republic Bank because that’s who normally pays mine out every Year. I use TaxAct every year for last 6 years. This will be my first year loooking at the state site so I don’t know how it works. I’m a pather for fed so not expecting it until around the 21st anyway like usual.

Yeah I was thinking we may see a deposit before it even updates. But I have always used my traditional bank to deposit my refunds. So I don’t know much about prepaid cards. I have always gotten refund on or before the 7th day though. Which is tomorrow. So guess we just wait and see. -
@M Ohio – I am really hoping that is the case. For the longest time I thought state refunds were only deposited on tuesdays, but since using this forum this year I see I was way off.
I was processed the 28th, still with 15 day message, and I have a PNC bank account. I will update once i have the funds in hopes of helping out others :)

There is someone who was processed on the 28th and got their dd on 2/4/2020. However, they had a Netspend card which can deposit up to 2 days early. I think those with bank accounts might deposit tomorrow.I

Did you get an advance through jackson hewitt? They told me yesterday they don’t touch state refunds. But then told me today they took it to go towards advance.

Nm I got confused lol. I thought you had turbotax. Im guessing you went through jackson hewitt? I have never filed through them so no clue how they work but i know sometimes the dd goes to the lender then released to you but that shouldn’t be the case with state. Fingers crossed you get it today. -

For anyone with a tax refund offset: I got my letter yesterday telling me what amount would be offset. I emailed Ohio tax department and ask them how I would get my remaining refund. they sent me an email back today stating it will be returned to me in the same way I originally requested it in 15 business days from the 29th, which is the original day that I got my offset notice on the website that a letter was mailed. Filed 1/20. Accepted 1/23. Offset notice on website 1/29. Received letter with detailed info 2/3. No federal offset. Hope this helps somebody that’s in the same boat! I’ll update if I get my DD (Woodforest Bank)

Last year I filed on January 25th. Did the survey right when I got it (don’t remember the date but from my file it may have been the 27th). I got my ddd on February 4th dd on the 5th. Hope that helps somewhat…

@ Chris I got an “accepted” from H&R Block yesterday too. I’ve had issue the last two years with them in regards to my state. I’ll just be doing it on the Ohio website from now on. Glad you all got everything figured out! I think what bothered me more than anything is that H&R didn’t notify any of us that there was even an issue. I kept waiting, for over a week, to see my Ohio being accepted and finally decided to call. Ohio has never taken that long, so I knew something had to be up.

@ Ohiochick21 yeah I’ve always used the free file on Ohio’s site for my state taxes and it’s ALWAYS accepted before my federal, this year I did it with H&R and after all the problems I’ve seen that almost everyone has had with their state going through with them I’ll probably never do it again. I filed the 17th federal was accepted either the 21st or 22nd on a test batch, I FINALLY got a notification yesterday from H&R on the 31st that my state went through, it still hasn’t updated on the states website yet so hopefully it ACTUALLY went through. I was starting to worry that something had gone wrong but it just seems they dropped the ball on sending them properly.

For all who filed with H&R and Ohio hasn’t been accepted yet. I was in the same boat. I called H&R and (After being told they weren’t sure and then transferred three times) was told there was a system overload and some of ours were “stuck” in the server. That was Thursday. At that point she told me their techs were looking for a solution and I should know within 24-72 hours whether or not I would have to resubmit them. I told them I was just going to file on the Ohio website myself. I went ahead and filed and was already accepted and processed. H&R Block didn’t even make me aware that there was an issue, which is what really bothers me. I was a little skeptical filing myself, I didn’t want it to look as if two state taxes were filed under our name, but it worked out ok.

I filed and got accepted 2/07/2019 I was on one bar last Monday I checked WMR a couple days later and it’s been displaying a message “your refund is being processsed and a date will become available” I’ve called the IRS (1-800-829-3676) and they let me know that I was under review and should be receiving a letter in the mail by 3/13/2019 and that if don’t see a change by March 18th I have to give them 45 days to see a change and to expect my refund by May 2nd and if I still don’t see a change I have to notify them again so they can finally take the proper cautious! Is anyone else having this problem? I did my taxes on TurboTax

Bee how many days in advance will NetSpend release? If the 31st (hypothetically) wasn’t going to direct deposit until Monday the 11th would you get it this early? Or is it more likely a direct deposit for tomorrow released today? Or would the state DD on a Saturday?
Ours sons 13th birthday is tomorrow and I was hoping Ohio would come through to help make his birthday extra special.

My Ohio was accepted on Feb 3 and had the 15 day message since Feb 4. I was hopeful that meant the deposit was sent to my bank, but evidently not :(
I found this strange for Ohio since normally it take WEEKS to get my small Ohio refund! LOL -
I spoke with an extremely helpful rep this morning regarding the unable to provide info message I started receiving yesterday. I was processed 1/31 And had the standard 15 day message until last night. It changed to unable to provide information.
She said she had no idea why it would say that and there were no issues with my refund, just waiting for it to be sent to the bank. She also said although Ohio was a bit ahead of refunds last year, this year was a bit slower but typical refunds are at about 2 weeks this year. -

People have said they got it, and unfortunately since they got it they don’t have a reason to return on here. Some people see it in a week’s time. Last year I got it within 10 days filed to deposited. I should see it this week in theory

So my Ohio return was filed on 1/29 and accepted on 1/30. It says it has been processed on 02/01/2019 and to allow up to 15 business days to receive it. And if I haven’t to check back there. My question is, didn’t they used to put a direct deposit date? My boyfriend and me both have the same message… I could’ve sworn I have had an exact direct deposit day last year and the year before.

Make sure you are entering everything in correctly, especially if on a mobile device. I’d check back tomorrow night to see if it updates.

@Alex, I filed on the 9th, my refund was received on the 15th, accepted on the 18th, and the Ohio site said it was processed on the 20th. On the 30th the site said the refund had been issued on the 30th and it hit my account at 2:30am same day. I bank with Huntington if it matters to anyone.

Received the tax ID quiz notice online. Waited for 2 weeks and still no letter in the mail. Finally called and confirmed they were sending it to my physical address rather than my Po box (which I doubled checked and I checked for them to send to Po box not physical). Still was advised to go ahead and fax info in and that would take care of id quiz. Finally 2 weeks later, the site updated and said processed on 3-15-2018 with the vague 15 day notice and if nothing by then check back for the release date. Does anyone have an idea how long it typically takes? The full 15 days or possibly more? I know you shouldn’t count on your taxes but I am….

@Aprell I’ve seen a few people that had the message under manual review and a few days later their status changed to the 15 day message. So hopefully yours will change, if not you may have to fax in some information. If they were sending you the paper for the identity quiz it would say when you check your status.

I just received my refund! I was processed on the 31st of January and was never updated on the ohio taxation website – still have the 15 day message. This was applied to a prepaid American Express instead of my bank so not sure if that made a difference or not.

I filed on 1/30 And accepted on 1/31. When I check my Ohio refund status it says under manual review and if nothing happens in 60 days call. What does manual review mean I’m I getting one of those identity quizzes.

Today it say refund was released for direct deposit on 2/5/18. It says to allow 5 business days after the deposit date. I used Jackson Hewitt and got the advance so they will most likely take it.

My Ohio confirmation on my transcripts is 18024xxxxx so I read that corresponds to year month date. So it could mean 2/4/18 or I hope it means this Thursday:) which tax wise is the 4th day of the week. But I don’t really know! Just my guess:)

The manual review message is a bit different from the message I got about verifying identity. Mine specifically stated that I was under review for identity and that a letter would be mailed out to me. I got the letter in 4 days and I just completed the identity quiz last night, but my message on ohio tax website hasn’t changed yet. When I did quiz it said allow 48 hours before checking refund status again. Hoping to have refund within the next few days/week!

So I filed my Federal & State Taxes with TT On 1/17/18 And was accepted on 1/19 on 1/24 my state taxes were accepted but with this message

They will send you a letter in the mail with a code you will use to log in and verify your identity. It delays your refund a bit but it’s common that people have to verify for Ohio now. I’ve had to do it two years in a row. This is the first year I haven’t had to. It seems like everyone was flagged for review when they first started it.

I am not 100% onthisbut if Iam thinking right, a few years ago that happened to me. I always file through TT. I had to confirm my identity with Ohio.gov. But i think you have to wait for the letter that they mail to you. Again it has been a couple years…

I filed my state on February 1st and ohio os showing it was processed on the 2nd. I read on here that the confirmation number on the transcript is actually like a deposit date. If this is true then I will not get my state refund until the end of march. As of right now I’m getting the 15 day message when I check the status. I filed 01/23/2017. I called several times and they told me allow 15days and provided me DD of 02/07/2017. I called Taxation dept. today they said they sent letter to send in w’2’s and copy of tax forms.

If Chase holds your payroll deposit then they’ll hold this deposit too. PNC always holds my direct deposits until the next day :-( It’s showing in my account as a pending deposit for 2/7/17. If they don’t hold direct deposits then it should be there tmrw morning.

Update 2.2.2017 – I received my refund from the State of Ohio sometime throughout the night/ morning hours of Thursday 2-2–2017. I filed morning of 1-23-17, the opening day, it was processed on 1-24-17. I did not receive a letter stating I needed to verify my identity in this year. I filed online at tax.ohio.gov. My status on Track My Refund never did update past the 15 day statement with a DDD. I used a bank account for DD, not a card.

My son, whom I filed for on 1/26/17 and is getting a paper check, got this message from ODT’s WMR:

Look at the numbers and the day you files they match dont they its just the date they processed it its not a deposit date. ohio does not put dates for deposit on their transcripts. I file processed and approved the 23rd its usually 7 days once approved

What a clusterfuck for this year. My Ohio State return status is now showing “Your return was processed on 03/01/2016. Please allow 15 business days from the process date for the refund to be credited to your account. My Ohio state was processed 02/08. I got a msg that it would be deposited into my account in 7 days. When the 7 days up and it didn’t show in my account. I checked the website again and it changed from the 7 days to 15. Alarmed I called the Ohio State Tax number and inquired if something was wrong. All I was told was there was nothing wrong with my return. We provided our drivers license at the time of filing.So I’m still not understanding why it went from 7 days then changed to 15 days. Makes no sense.

@Karen – It will not post or show any progress if your return is flagged for ID Verification. It took about a week for my status to say that and literally the letter showed up the following day.
File on 1/29, Accepted by Ohio on 2/2. 2/5 Online status stated ID Verification. (What’s really odd about this, I’ve lived at the same address for 3 years now. I got flagged last year and did it. My girlfriend at the time has lived with me for 2 years and also got flagged. Last year we got married. Filed Jointly this year, same address, etc. I got flagged for verify but not her! lol).
Letter arrived on 2/6 for myself only. Verified Online. Sunday morning (2/7) showed it has been processed and to expect DD within 7 business days and the return is now posted and showing on my online ohio tax account.

I am also under manual review for the second year in a row! Anyways, faxed in W2 and first two pages of return and still nothing. Website has not updated at all. I have my fax confirmation but I am not even sure they have it. I called today and was told they cant tell me anything and it can take up to 30 more days if they have it. I was basically just told to hang onto my FAX confirmation in case they didn’t get it! OMG!

My Ohio refund (while rather small) is always delayed. I noticed when I filed yesterday, I had to include my Drivers License number, issue and exp dates. I don’t think our federal return has any impact on our Ohio funds. Puzzling why mine is always delayed several weeks?

Has anyone tried contacting them BEFORE the 60 days is up? This is my 2nd year of a manual review as well…..at least we know we are not alone. It sounds like 90% of Ohioans are under “manual” review. I think I might try giving them a call Monday. What’s the worst that can happen?
