If there is no court agreement of otherwise, a verbal agreement is all that’s necessary.

If mom doesn’t try to claim him/her, and she will send in a notified letter stating what you said, and you have a birth certificate with your name, you are good to go.

No it will not you are going to need a school or doctors note with child’s name ss num and your name address as the person who child lives with my suggestion is to change the address to yours and then ask for a letter because that is the only thing they will accept

I face a similar situation. From the perspective of the IRS, you may claim the child if you provided at least half of their support in the past year. A letter from the mother can serve as proof of this if the irs calls for it. You may also use any other receipts associated with support of your children, I.e., child support payments, day care, clothing purchases, school related purchases, medical expenses, etc. you don’t necessarily have to prove that the child lived in your home for at least 180 days. You would, however, need to prove that you provide at least half the support for the child you are claiming in the event that the irs asks for it. I hope this helps.

I’m not sure if that would help so much when I thought the kids had to live with u a full year and u need to be able to prove that with a lease, receipts, mail, school records, doctor records and etc.
