I just checked my status and I’m finally showing that my refund was approved and should be deposited in the next 10 days. I’m hoping that it won’t take that long and usually it doesn’t but I filed my taxes on January 20 and my Kentucky state taxes were excepted on February 4.

Ky return says a refund check was authorized and will be mailed within 10 days but I have turbo tax and everything should be direct deposit no other messages and nothing mailed either. Took identity quiz and passed. First time filing in KY can someone help? I had a couple people tell me that “10 days” means direct deposit and KY can mess things up like that!!! Please help! Has anyone had this happen??

Hey Mookie, I just read your message.
I received that same ID Quiz Letter in the mail and attempted it but failed for some reason.
I ended up faxing my ID, W2’s and the Letter to the number on the letter.
It took them about a week from the time I faxed it for them to update my return, and now I am listed as “Direct Deposit has been authorized and I will receive it within 10 days.”

Is anyone actually reading this board anymore? Another update….. Checked the State’s Where’s My Refund Tool and “A refund check or prepaid debit card was mailed out on 4/14/2020.” We’re getting there. Now onto the Federal Return and Stimulus Payment (we’ll see how long that takes).

Hey everyone. I filed by mail and put this in the mail on February 7th. The IRS and Kentucky received these and I finally have some news on KY.
Just today I checked and it states a Refund Check has been authorized and should be mailed within 10 days.
The Federal Return is listed as still processing. Filing by mail takes a lot longer but I was forced to because I don’t have the PIN number the IRS supposedly mailed to me in January.
Anyhow, that’s my update. -

@stephanie they also told me that the online system can take a while to refresh. So it’s possiblity that you can already have a deposit and the online site still say that you’ll be getting it soon.

I was not entitled to a state return for the 2018-2019 season because of an offset with student loans, so I am unsure what to expect. Monday will have been 2 weeks as they started processing on the 10th. I don’t have any offsets this year.

I’m going to say most of us won’t get our state refund until the Last week of this month or the first week of March. Its absolutely ridiculous. Most other states are way ahead of us and have already issued DD to people. I mean hell the IRS has to go through 10 times the returns that a single state would have to, there’s no good excuse for the way Kentucky is doing things. -

Also, I didn’t get my KY state return until the 11th of March last year. Same things happened that are happening now. I got my federal within 8 days and then state took their time. I don’t understand how the IRS can get so many pumped out in a short amount of time yet, Kentucky seems to never be able to get anything done in time.

I called this morning and this lady I spoke to said that they started processing 2 days ago. They did 1200 on Monday ..I forgot how many yesterday. She also said that after it’s been processed it can take any where from 7-10 business days to receive, and to check in a couple of weeks. I told the nice lady thank you and I hung up.

When you put in your ssn and amount, it gives a popup message that says something different than it has been saying. I haven’t gotten this message until today.

Ive claimed the eitc for years.. been getting it on time until this fraud issue in 2015. People are just dirty. 1 bad apple spoils the whole bunch. My TT says that I should have my direct deposit by the 17. Why they keep telling giving people ddd on the day’s the banks are closed.. why so they can wait another week or too. To that’s just painful. -
@ky2018 i wanna say i got my check in the mail the first week of march last year, maybe around march 4-5. I recieved the “a check will be issued message” about a week before i got it. They are super slow for some awful reason. I only ever did paper check for federal once and it took me about 3 weeks to get my check from the time i filed. (At the time i had no credits though)

i just want to add that i filed and was accepted February 25th! still have nothing. went through both short and long message. now it says allow additional 2 to 3 wks for non residents and for residents to call. said something about unforseen delays but only in regards to the non reaident part of the statenebt and said alkow 2 to 3 wks as far as thats concerned. then said if resident to call and a rep would assist. called and was just told they were behind. didnt gain anything at all by calling, they just stated the obvious. gave no idea as to when itll be completed. this is just sad. ridiculous and some more crap. its getting close to 60 days. that whole itll take 2 to 3 wks is just bs. they need to just take that off bc its not reality. i desperately need this money.

I filed 1/30/2019 I’m still on the “Your 2018 return has been received and is currently being processed. Initial processing for error-free electronically filed returns is 2-3 weeks. Initial processing for mailed in returns may take up to 10-12 weeks. If additional information is needed the Department of Revenue will contact you.” Message. I have seen people talking about getting an accepted message of some sort. What platform did you get this message? By checking the state refund status website and the message was on there? This is the longest it’s ever taken me to get my state refund. Starting to annoy me. I haven’t heard anything from them. And since I filed that’s the only message I’ve seen on their website.

Apparently they have also been processing returns for out of state resident return in additional To in state residents (whom should take precedence). The Where’s my refund site now has a message saying that out of state residents will have their refund delayed .

I electronically filed my state AND federal returns and wanted a paper check for the federal refund for a particular reason. I have already received my federal paper check through the mail and the state refund, which is supposed to be direct deposited, is “still processing”. It has been OVER 3 weeks and I STILL don’t have my state refund. When I called them today, I was told, AGAIN, that it is still processing. Glad and sad that I’m not the only one.

I too filed my state Feb 8,2019 (accepted feb 14th ) ,and still have not received state refund . I was told to give them an additional 2-3 weeks to process the returns . When I asked why would they put an article in the courier journal with misleading info the agent hung up . Also when you call to have the agents at the department of revenue “check” they literally are just putting your info in the same system we’ve already been checking the status on .

I got a letter saying I had to verify for my fed return. I hope that I don’t have to with my state also. I filed and was accepted 2/7. I hope if I was gonna have to verify for the state they would of already contacted me, but they are so behind and slow this year that it’s untelling. I know the struggle is real this year with everyone. I thought filing early would help you get ahead of the rush but I was def. mistaken. @606 7 days for approval, 10 days following for deposit are the stated times. However, its usually more like 2-3 days for approval and 1-2 days for deposit…business days.

@606 it means that they are actively working on your return. They have “scanned it into the mainframe” and it should be within 7 days for it to be approved.

I still haven’t received my letter to verify and they said I can’t verify until I receive the letter. It just changed Monday to say I had to verify. Anyone know how long it will take to get the letter? I’m just 45 minutes away from Frankfort, looks like it would of been here by now. I have a new address this year. This year is so irritating! Filed 2/8–Accepted 2/14… Direct deposit still not there. Message still hasn’t changed from the received status. My refund is just $200 or so, but I need it!!! I don’t have any special forms or any big changes this year. Nothing to cause a delay as far as I can tell. I’ve filed taxes for 25 years, so I’m in the system I’m sure. Fairly certain it wouldn’t be a verification issue. Single, no dependents–as simple as it gets. Last year I got my state refund in 11 days, if memory serves. Would’ve been great to have that kind of speed this year! If I didn’t need it, it would’ve already been here…oh well…lol.

I’ve been filing KY tax returns since 1994, and now I have to take a quiz to verify my identity?
This just seems like a way of delaying the issuing of refunds. I e-filed in January but still had to wait for the quiz letter to arrive in the mail. That’s just odd. I got my Frderal return on Feb 15, but I t’ll probably be April before I get the Ky. -

I know the website says the 11th but ai talked to a guy at the KY DOR and he told me they were delayed and it began on the 13th. 21 days starts at the 13th. I had to verify mine also so everybody should be drawing close to an update.

I filed on 1/31 and was accepted the same day and it’s now 3/3 and says it has been recieved and still being processed. It never takes this long to get my state refund bank. It’s been a whole month and nothing. My neighbors around me have recieved theirs that filed weeks after I did. You cant even get anyone on the phone to talk to anyone to see what is going on with them.

This is crazy!!! I always receive my state within a week or so. Monday will be 21 days since they started processing, but mine was accepted on 2-5 which Monday would make 27 days . I filed on 1-31 that would be 32 days. I don’t understand how my fiancé got accepted same day and she has already received a check in the mail( should of been direct deposit) and she hadn’t filed taxes in a few years. Most tho get the deposit message and get it the very next day if u have direct deposit.I have heard ppl that get deposit though PayPal takes a bit longer like they r having issues . 3/4 days longer.
The short message is the one where it says we have received your return and it will take 2-3 weeks to process the longer message is the one where they say they r processing ur return. Then after that ur suppose to get the deposit message if no issues. I still can’t believe it’s takej this long!!

I used h&r blocks free efiling. Got a text saying it was accepted 2/7. I keep getting the same received message that most others are getting on the state Web site. I noticed hete, that some other ppl have already received their refunds, but had filed and were accepted after me. So did anyone use a PayPal card for direct depositing their refund? Because I had heard ther people were having issues with it. I also received a letter from the federal IRS, saying that they needed more info from me in order to verify my identity to prevent fraud. Does anyone know if that would effect my stste refund? Any info or knowledge anyone could drop my way would be greatly appreciate it. Good luck with anyone getting a refund!!

The notice when looking it up on Ky Refund Status states, “Direct Deposit Approved, to be given within 10 days.” But it’s already in my account today and updates this morning.
So basically it took the 2-3 week timeframe the State mentions. Hope this helps.

My ky state updated again and it says my refund was mailed the 20th in the form of a paper check or a prepaid card. I still don’t understand why it’s being mailed. I went over my tax forms, my routing and acct numbers are the same. This is the first time that I’ve actually got a state return, we usually always have to pay in.

Yes, I have had that message for awhile. I filed Jan 28th -
I flled my feb. 3 and it didn’t get accepted until the 8th and there has been no change in it. i am still getting the 2-3 week message.

I believe if they send a paper check its because they found errors and made corrections. Or that could be thats the message you get even with direct deposit.

My ky state updated yesterday. It was supposed to have been sent direct deposit, but the message says that a paper check or pre paid card has been issued and will be sent within 10 days? Any ideas as why it says that?

I also have the short message still. I called the number yesterday and the automatic system said it would begin processing tuesday feb 20th. Well that was last years message. I call today and its updated to they began processing feb. 11th so I think thats a good sign that things are starting to move along.

I was accepted on the 7th of February! Thankfully last year it wasn’t hard to the verify. And once it was done we had it within like a week. Hopefully it goes the same this year

Kentucky just started processing state refunds on February 11th so it could be close to the end of the month when they issue refunds. When I checked my status on their website it still says been received and is being processed and will take 2-3 weeks. Hope this helps.

I filed 1/25 got an email from jackson and hewitt saying the irs recieved my refund on 1/28 got another email on 1/31 saying they recieved my state. I checked wmr a few days later not sure of exact date and I was on path act message and my amount didnt show and I am still stuck on it. I called the number for the kentucky revenue and the lady told me that my hasnt even began to process refunds yet I dont know if it was just something she was saying because so many people are calling but that’s all she would say

Didn’t say path did affect state refunds. Just telling those that have path who are seeing path messages (only website that does it is IRS) that they will not be processed until 2/15/19. But hey there’s a whole article on it here in the forum.

I faxed my ID confirmation on 3/13. Received my full refund by paper check in the mail yesterday (3/24). Not sure if the ID confirmation was reason it wasn’t direct deposit; but I received the full refund after providing ID documents in a little less than 3 weeks. -
I had to verify ID. Quiz had questions about people I don’t even know . Called the # given and the girl said they had multiple problems with that and had me fax in my ID info. Still waiting. That was almost 2 weeks ago. Has anyone that had to verify ID with Ky gotten their refund? How long did it take?

My timeline:
2/10 — State Return Accepted
2/26 — KY Where’s My Refund site changes from the generic “We have started processing…” to ” 2-3 weeks to review”
3/5 — I called and talked to someone who told me the processing had started on Feb 26th and that if I didn’t hear something by 3/12 to call back
3/12 — No change to message. Called and was told that everything had been verified and I should expect my return in 5-7 business days.
3/14 — Message has changed to “Your 2017 return has been received. The direct deposit for your refund has been authorized and should be issued within 10 days.” No direct deposit as of this morning, but I am hoping it happens soon. -

I filed January 18th state was accepted Feb 6th. Feb 20th my status updated to the your return has been received and is processing blah blah blah. Im calling back monday to check again. She said it could be because of a hospital bill (UK) or something but I don’t have any hospital bills or owe the state any money. But it is the biggest state refund I’ve ever had. So I guess that’s probably why.

I asked if there was a problem with it and she said “No, I see no codes indicating an issue”. I was told to call back next Monday if the status hadn’t changed.

We filed our state along with federal on 2/3, TT updated on 2/4 with accepted. However, the site said nothing until the 20th I believe? I have been checking it ever since then with no deposits. This is terrible, last year we got state before Federal and the year before that as well. This years tax season is just horrid. You know I messaged TT and spoke to them about how bad SBTPG was this year and they acted like it was no big deal. The way that they talked to me I honestly believe they have nothing but automated scripts for everything. Terrible company

Katey I got a letter saying I owed money because I was overpaid my state taxes last year. It wasn’t a garnishment of refund letter just a letter notifying me of debt. I have 60 days to pay in full I got it at the end of January. I am hoping it won’t be taken out of this years refund because they mail the remainder they don’t direct deposit and u have no idea when it will be received.

My Kentucky State return was accepted on Feb.5. My status changed on Tuesday morning to “Your 2017 return has been received. The direct deposit for your refund has been authorized and should be issued within 10 days” I called the Revenue Cabinet in Frankfort this morning and a very nice lady looked it up for me and told me that my return had been processed on Monday and that my deposit would be in my account in 3 to 5 business days from Monday. I hope this helps.

Mine was accepted on 2/12. They told me that they didn’t start processing them till 2/20. I looked at one of these post in which a woman was accepted by KY on 2/2 and she got hers on 2/23 which was last Friday giving it three exact weeks. I can relate as I need mine desperately. Cause of me starting a job in that I had to buy a car, now I lost my job cause I don’t have enough gas to make it to work and won’t get my first check from them till this Friday in which I had to quit my job for relying on it. It really tees me off cause last year, I got both at the same time. My previous job laid me off since Oct. 23. Running out of unemployment funds and get a job and can’t make it cause I need gas. Absolutely annoyed cause unemployment wants you to get a job but how can you if you don’t have gas. I made it through my first week, ok, but now I will be missing, I guess, all week waiting maybe longer. I just don’t understand, how come unemployment can process quicker than this. I call unemployment check in on Sunday and get it deposited on Tuesday night at 9:30 pm. What can you do though? So, this morning, I quit my job cause I can’t make it cause no gas to make it to work. Government has double standard to me. Doesn’t make any sense. But assuming that one thread says she got hers last Friday when she was accepted on 2/2 which is exactly three whole weeks. So im guessing that by this Friday, I should have mine.

You are probably right that we won’t see any refunds becore 2/26 but I know in the past KY DOR has said refunds would be delayed and then they ended up not being delayed or they started processing returns sooner than anticipated. But this year the closer we get to 2/26 with no updates or progress I guess they really are going to make us wait that long. It sucks but what can you do.

Mine was accepted today. Last year got mine on the 16. Seems to be on track for the same this year unless they really arent processing until 26th. I understand it as not processing refund until then, but so says the IRS.

MIne was finally accepted today, however the site says they will not accept till Feb. 26th. I got mine 10 days after acceptance last year and I.d. verify. Hoping it doesnt follow what their site says.

I called the Kentucky Department of Revenue today and she said they wouldn’t start accepting until closer to the 26th of February or on the 26th

My ky state has not been accepted yet either. Those of you saying yours was please tell me how you knew it was. I put my info in on ky state where my refund and it gave me a generic message so then I typed in a random ss number and amount and got the same message so I am sure mine hasn’t. The message said a refund hasn’t been authorized etc. why would our taxes not even be accepted. Ky always drops the ball and screws me over in some manner every year.

Some previous years, I get my refund and the status online never changed. So that is why I am wondering.

Finally the website is back up!! Filed and accepted on the 24th, still says that no information found, give 2-3 weeks. I did have EIC and ACTC but I wasn’t sure if that effects state tax refunds as well. Hopefully an update this week!

You should be able to add a security exception to your browser. If you’re using a computer, click on the “Advanced” button, confirm the security exception, and you should be good from there.

When I call the 502-564-1000 number, it rings and rings and rings. The website to check my refund status said there is no information for me and I should call. I don’t know what to think. Kentucky has some very bad ratings for tax returns this year.. one has to wonder if the new governor has anything to do with it? I wish I could just find out what’s going on. Anyone else having trouble with the the 502-564-1600 number?

I got it! Came in the mail this morning. Total of 42 days it took from date of initial acceptance when I filed. This included calling and finding out that even though the website said my refund was deposited to my bank account there was a glitch and it never went. Manual check had to be sent.
I urge anyone that filed more than 2-3 weeks ago to call and talk to someone.

I filed on 1/29/16. Its been five weeks & when I call the automated # it tells me my return is being processed. Still no direct deposit & today is 3/4! Ridiculous.

I spoke to them on the phone this morning. What I was told was that there was a glitch in the system and the message that updated that said refund was issued on 26th – nothing actually went out or was issued for anyone with this date. The lady I spoke to said she would see if she could manually issue the refund to me. She said she did and said since it was manually issued by her it has to be sent in a check. And it takes 2 – 3 days for the check to be printed/mailed. So according to her I will probably get it sometime next week.
So to summarize…who knows how many people show a message of refund issued on 2/26 and are confused and freaking out because their money has not hit their banks. No one notified tax payers of this apparent glitch, even though apparently the revenue dept. knows about it. If you want your refund you better call and have them manually issue it.

Update…..On Saturday 02/27 my message updated to
“Your 2015 return has been received. The direct deposit or prepaid debit card you elected for your refund was authorized and issued on Feb 26, 2016.”As of this morning, 02/29 I still do not have a direct deposit to my account. It has been 31 days since the date my return was filed and accepted.

I e-filed and was accepted 1/22… Screen kept saying no information on file for to long. I’m wondering am I typing something wrong. On 2/8 I called and was told they just start processing refunds on 1/29. Give it some time. I saw on 2/22 the screen changed to “they can not give me info electronically to call them”. So I called them and was told my return was already processed 2/19 Friday and I should expect it in 3-5 business days. I said how am I receiving it because I filed electronically. She said in a check. When I woke up and checked the mail at 11am this morning 2/27 Saturday I had a letter from the irs with A debit card with my name on it from Kentucky. I called and Registered the card and my return was in there.

From Feb 5 – feb 18 it said this message ” We have no information for the social And amount you have entered ”
So basically no info at all about my return !
Then on feb 19th I was given the message saying ” We are unable to provide any information about your return electronically , for further info call 502 ……for further assistance ”
Well it’s now Feb 27 exactly 22 days since I was excepted and still NOTHING!

Just an update on my situation with timeline in case it helps anyone out :)
Currently from date of initial acceptance I am at 26 days and still waiting. I filed my state on 01/29 and it was accepted same day.
For the first week nothing pulled up on the where’s my refund section of the website.
Then for the next week or week and a half I got the below message:
We are unable to provide information about your return electronically. If you wish to speak to a representative you may contact the offices at (502) 564-4581, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. eastern standard time and a representative will assist you.On 02/17 the message updated to the below:
Your 2015 return has been received. The direct deposit or prepaid debit card you elected for your refund has been authorized and should be issued within 10 days.Today is 02/24 which is 7 days since I received the above message. I plan to give it the full 10 days (which is Saturday 02/27) if I have not received by Monday 02/29 I will call them.

I was told that’s what the message meant is that they had finally begin processing the return and that when u call they still can’t tell u anything useful! Anyway I filed my fed and state both and was accepted by both on February 5th .
Up until this past Friday morning they had zero Info when I entered my info.

To Hello! I called last week approximately Thursday because I still had the same message. I was accepted Feb 3rd by state. The rep I spoke to was very nice and said that they were not even going to start processing returns again until “sometime next week” which is this week. She really couldn’t tell me anything more than my return was there. I’m not really sure the message we receive means that they’re processing it or what it means? I remember when the state refund was faster then the federal. Not anymore. :(

If anyone has had this message and called and actually got through to someone plz respond on this page . I realize it can mean something different for everyone , however I was told that it means they’re processing it? And that is why no information is available electronically because they’re finally processing it for 12 or 13 business days I got the message saying we have no information on that Social Security number etc. etc. the one everybody else’s is getting. And then last Friday this message has been there so this’ll be the third business day in the row that it’s been there. I just wanted to know if anybody has actually got a hold of somebody and if they told you it was because it was processing? If I can help please let me know because I got more information from this website then anything at all up until now I didn’t realize there was a security issue !

My understanding is as of 2/10 (the date of the press release) they stopped all processing and issuing of refunds. So if you don’t have the money in your bank then you will be impacted. That is just how I am understanding it.
The more searching I do on line it seems that other states are doing similar things. South Carolina stated that no refunds will be issued until after March 1st due to additional identify safeguards. As well as numerous other states. I guess the days are gone of 7-10 day turnarounds.

This is crazy! The press release says “No personal taxpayer data was compromised or disclosed by IRS systems” so why can they not continue on with business as usual?

You know this really gets old. How many actually believe there is a problem with the computer programs causing the holdup? They got by with it last year and here it is again. Think about the millions of dollars they are raking in on interest by holding all that refund money longer.

I chose direct deposit when I filed. The website stated that my return was finished but I will be issued a paper check. I called to find out why but the rep claimed that she could not tell me why I was receiving a paper check or when it will be mailed. Anyone else have this problem?

Kentucky finally updated overnight that they were processing my return, and a refund would be issued in 10 days. If it follows same pattern as last year, they had typically issued refunds in 3 days after getting this message.

No updates for me either. Tried the WMR link since KY republished today. Funny thing they did not update the error message wording. So the main refund page says up to 21 days to process your refund. If there is no info available on your return, this message is still showing “No information is found for the information you entered. Please recheck your Social Security Number and refund amount. Also, initial processing for error-free electronically filed returns is 7-10 days. Initial processing for mailed in returns may take up to 12 weeks. So I guess there is initial processing for electronic returns and additional processing. :)

Called and got through. If you are getting a busy signal as soon as call, try dialing 1 502 564 1600 since it is a toll number. The rep said that mine is still processing and gave the standard 7-10 days from the day THEY started processing which was 1/29/16. So we are on day 8 (counting only business days).
The rep said that refunds are then processed up to 5 days after the return is finished so to expect refunds to start coming through next week.

Yeah, I noticed they changed the refund timeline today. The webpage says updated 2/8/16. They obviously did this because they were getting calls and wanted to align themselves with the IRS dates to avoid getting hassled by tax payers. The question is when do they actually start the clock. The day they accepted it? or the rumored processing start date of 1/29/16. I also noticed the ‘coming soon’ language to check your refund has been removed, but no link to check it electronically has been published.

No updates for me as well. Filed 12, got accepted by KY on 16th. Call the automated number I get the message no information is available. Last year I was accepted by KY on Jan 24th and paid on Feb 6th, but KY was delaying refunds due to TT fraud. This year no information is coming, which I wonder is a result of the new Gov. and head of KY revenue cabinet. Very disappointed so far.

I checked the wmr for ky state returns… I filed on 1/26 for federal and state…..got accepted the same day and WMR told my my refund has been sent and I should receive the funds within 10 days….and from my understanding revenue for ky did not start processing efiles until 2/5 or 2/6……I filed everything through Jackson Hewitt online so I hope this helps guys!!!!

I filed with TT and was accepted on the 21st for both Federal and State. Both the website and phone number for Kentucky state taxes is still reflecting last years information. After making a phone call this morning to the Kentucky Department of Revenue they were able to check my return. They have not started processing refunds yet but expect to have the website updated by the end of the week. The person I spoke with was very nice and knowledgeable.
Now if only I could get a DDD for my federal I would be all set. I seem to be stuck at one bar.

I just called the revenue dept this morning. The website and hotline will say 2014 return as they have not updated for 2015 yet. They began accepting returns on 1/19 and will not begin processing them until 1/29. I would hopefully expect refunds between 2/5 – 2/16.
