Kansas usually doesn’t take long to process returns. It’s been more than a week already & I was wondering if anyone else was having delays with their Kansas returns?

Update: we use Chime and our deposit just hit around 4:50. It’s not updated to the site yet. If you are waiting definitely email the tax advocate! Two days later we are now finally done with fed and state for the year!

Filed the 29th, it showed on the WMR the 31st. No changes since. E-mailed the KDOR tax advocate last night and had a response this morning that our return was updated and will be deposited this week. I’ll update if/when it does.
We filed through them this year and had an address change. Any change on KS usually holds you up until you contact them. -
Anybody know how long after offset it takes to get your refund? Really need this to come before the 14th so I don’t lose my place. Offset received it yesterday 01/30 and are in the pr

Had to email Bob this year. Filed 02/11, accepted same day. No movement, so I shot an email his way. He said “Your return is under review to verify dependents claimed”. I haven’t changed my dependents for 9 years! A couple hrs later he calls n tells me my refund is approved n it will be sent in 7-10 days.

Any one that needs info about the setoff process. Filed a joint return on 2/16, received income verification sheet to determine the amount to be offset based on what portion of income was from debtor dated for 2/24 received 2/27, faxed income verification back 2/27, notice from set off program of amount being offset dated 3/3 received 3/6. Notice states remaining balance of refund will be received in 4-6 weeks.

I sent an email to the Kansas Tax Advocate on 02/13. They said that my refund has been approved and will be issued later this week. The website still hasn’t updated and no deposit yet.

I filed my taxes through TurboTax on 1/25 it was accepted 1/28 and still no state refund. it still says processing on the site I called the revenue service today but their system was down they told me to call back Monday which is President’s day so hopefully somebody will answer.

Accepted 2/7 ….refund issued 2/13…nothing in bank account…yet.
Every year it would be in there right after 6am on Friday….

Just called My Emerald card Customer service and was told I should have my refund on the 10th.Bad news is I probably don’t see it because H & R Block are taking their fee and my loan from it.Which i was told it would come from my federal refund but it’s actually whatever deposit first they take from.If I’m lucky I might see about $100 from it.😔

Good morning.I was notified that part of my refund was being offset for a hospital bill and the rest would be refunded to me by direct deposit.The issue is I don’t know exactly when that will be.1 representative said up to 10 weeks and another said a few days.So annoying 😵

I was on hold for 17 minutes earlier and had to get off the phone, now I can’t get to even hold, just “All reps are busy.” I was going to call the bank, but Bob never actually told me the day it was sent, so I don’t know if it was Thursday or Friday and wanted to check with the state first. Sigh. I’ll try a couple more times then call the bank. Fingers crossed for something pending at least. Congrats to those that can see theirs!! It gives me hope.

Ive been on the phone with my bank and they say absolutely nothing has came and if it was sent the 14th (like bob has informed me twice now) they would absolutely show something for it. They put a trace or something out to try to find it but Im pretty sure it was never sent. I tried calling the regular number for state but keep getting agents are busy message and it hangs up on me.

I have one or two deposits that never post until 10:45 AM, so I am waiting until then to call my bank then the State. I won’t call Bob this time, just see what the normal line says. If I can get through. There are far too many of us this year, it’s so frustrating!

Most certainly he lied. Last week he said I would have it Thursday. My bank doesn’t “hold” or “release” deposits .. a deposit comes in and is available right away.
I’m changing my witholding to 10 dependants so they can quit stealing out of my paychecks. -

@Andrew I don’t think so. It didn’t get sent out Wednesday but rather Thursday for me. So for me, it wouldn’t have got to my bank in time to post for Friday and they don’t post on weekends. Monday is also a holiday so I’m 99% sure it will be there Tuesday.

@schmom sorry I’ve been sick past few days, but mine updated the next day after speaking with the rep. unfortunately I had a tax debt and now am waiting for a letter for information. I called the offset line prior to all this and it said no debts owed so I’m confused.

As for last year I filed before the opening date so I thought that was why they sent me the letter. However they never contacted me again after that letter

Well I won’t see mine till Tuesday at minimum. I called my bank to see if they do deposits on Saturdays and they said no after 4pm Friday central time. Anything after 4pm central time, it will post Tuesday since it’s a holiday Monday. Won’t even show pending.

I got the same letter this year and last year asking for my federal tax return. The weird thing is last year when I got the letter I received it like a week or 2 after I received my refund. The same thing would’ve happened this year had my refund not been delayed because of the whole bank switch.

I really dont get why they say 7-10 day wait. Maybe for a paper check but even then it should take 1-2 days for arrival. This is direct deposit we are talking about, it is pretty much instant. At the minimum my bank would show a pending deposit. They are saying they sent it electronically and it takes that long…no. i could walk to Topeka in this weather and pick it up faster

I filed with HR block on 1/29, accepted the same day.
It wasn’t processed (per ks department of revenue site) until 2/8 and updated today that the deposit was sent. I called the Emerald Card number around 4pm and was able to speak to someone who said they showed nothing pending. I know KS website says wait 7-10 business days but I dont remember having to wait that long in years prior. I really hope it hits tomorrow but I’m not optimistic, it’s already been 15 days

Also had the same issue. E-filed on 1/30 status changed to processing and remained until 2 days after I called on 2/11. When I called on 2/11 I had to keep dialing the phone # about 7 times before getting to someone. The rep said everything looked good and that it just had not been manually processed by someone and that he would go ahead and process it. Woke up on 2/12 and still said processing. Wasn’t until 2/13 in the morning that it had changed status advising that refund had been issued and will take 7-10 days for deposit. After you call it usually takes 1-2 days for status to change.

The original poster I saw this from said they spoke with Bob Friday for this issue and he said she would have her money Wednesday this week. She posted today that she had her money today. So as of right now, I believe it. After he emailed me back, I called him to confirm since I didn’t give him my social or anything via email. He confirmed my social with me, address and the amount of my refund. He explained the delay was because of the bank info. He removed the hold he said and I’ll see it sometime this week. I’ll see if it updates overnight tonight. (usually Wednesday mornings are big updates) my fingers are crossed.
I also got Bob’s name and number from the KDOR site, not from what the lady posted. Wanted to make sure it wasn’t just a random person. He is listed as the tax advocate for Kansas. Because he is employed by the Kdor, he will have access to our info. Advocates are those yiu contact when yiu have issues as we all did.

I went the email route like Kim and explained my whole situation with receiving the letter and everything and also mentioned that I used a different bank and I got an email back in 6 minutes saying my Refund was now approved and to expect it in my account Thursday or Friday. It just seemed to easy. I know it’s an official government email, but does this Bob guy really have that much power?

I called and got a not very nice rep. She said the reason I’ve not seen any movement online is because they haven’t processed or reviewed mine. I was accepted 1/29, no movement since 1/30 on KDOR. Hmm. She said I just need to wait.

Okay so I saw there was issues with Kansas putting a hold if you changed account info or really anything from last year. Someone said call the tax advocate and it will be fixed. I called the tax advocate as I saw in another group and he fixed it right away. There was a hold on my account because I changed my bank. Said my refund will be sent tonight and should see Thursday or Friday. His name is Bob if I remember right. 785-296-2473

Same here. Filed 1/14, accepted 1/28, updated to processing 1/30, and nothing since. The only difference is I received a letter asking for Federal return and proof of withholding. I mailed it and then found out Friday that it takes them weeks to look at mailed info so I had to email the same stuff Friday. So if there’s no movement by Wednesday then I’ll call again.

@Brett i have the same situation happen to me. My SO filed 1/30 and already got her refund on 2/6. I filed on 1/31 and haven’t gotten anything at all. I called the same number you did and kept calling back 5 times before I got ahold of someone. They asked me for all my information and then said my refund hasn’t even been reviewed yet. The KDOR is a joke and a bad one at that.

Mine was accepted on 1/29, my fiance’s was accepted on 1/28 and she got hers on 2/4/19 and I’m still waiting on mine. Every time I call 785-368-8222, I go through the prompts to speak with someone and it says ‘everyone is busy’ then ends the call. Is there a phone number that I can call to talk with someone?

I just called KDOR and told them my situtation about receiving the letter asking for Federal Return and proof of withholding and even though I payed extra for 2 day shipping, she said that mailed information (which is what the letter told us to do) would not be seen for weeks and that I would have to fax or email the information. That just irritates the hell out of me. Nowhere in the letter does it say to fax or email, it didn’t even provide a fax number or email address. And what difference does it really make? Does it really matter if it’s snail mailed? Just sounds like an excuse to me.

When i check my refund status it said it was direct deposited on the 29th. But could take 5-7 days. But I still have not received it. Anyone else have this problem?

@JRich when did you file and get accepted? Just trying to see if there is a pattern. Seems most of us were accepted 28/29.

I woke up to a deposit in my bank. It came in around 10pm it says.

Same here. Filed 1/12, can’t remember when I was accepted, but I received a letter asking for a copy of my federal return and my W2. I mailed them 2 day shipping and after they arrived the checker updated to Processing. That was on 1/30, and it hasn’t updated since. Still says last update 1/30.

question I filed and got a text saying ks was accepted on the 29th of jan. How long do you think it will take before seeing it on my emerald card? when I go to check it says something about last time data was loaded was 2/5/2019 and tells me I can register an account?

Anybody file prior to opening day, accepted opening day, and still not have their state? It just says processing. I haven’t gotten a letter or anything and people that filed after me already have direct deposit dates. What’s going on?!

That’s great news!!! I ended up calling them yesterday and they aid they had sent payment just this morning. So we will see. Keep us posted when ya get it! They seem to be a lot slower this year

I updated today on the KDOR website. Says they sent my deposit 2/4 and to allow 5-7 days for deposit.

Mine was from 2015, for overpayment.. I had a offset last year for my federal but that’s what the rep said 2-4 weeks.. I hope it comes sooner

You can have offsets for things like state offered student loans or government owned utility bills. I’m not sure why it would take 2-4 weeks to get your money after an offset though.

I CALLED KDOR AND THEY SAID I DID HAVE A OFFSET AND THEY HAVE ALREADY TAKEN WHAT I OWED AND THE REST OF MY REFUND IS PENDING. SHE SAID IT COULD TAKE UP TO 2-4 WEEKS .. BUT I FEEL I WILL RECIEVE IT SOON

Kansas shows refund issued on1/31/19, allow 5-7 business days. Not in bank now nor does the representative see a pending deposit for it. Hopefully overnight or tomorrow

I mailed it Friday with 2 day shipping, it got there Monday and the state refund checker says it’s now being processed, so I’m assuming they got it and everything is fine. Normally I get the state refund before the checker ever updates, so hopefully it’ll be done soon.

That happened to me last year, so I just faxed it in on 1/30 and my money was deposited at 8pm on 2/1. i wouldn’t mail your return in, I recommend faxing it.

I received a letter today from the state saying that I need to mail them my complete federal return and proof of Kansas withholding to process my return or fix my account. Anybody else receive this letter recently or in prior years?
I switched from brick and mortar HRB to TurboTax this year.

My Kansas refund shows it’s been processed and a portion or all has been applied to a debt I owe to a government agency. I called the offset and I only owe $248 which would only be a portion. Does anyone know how long it will take for me to receive the portion that wasn’t offset? Will it still be direct deposited or will in come by check since it was offset?

Went from saying they received my return and to give it atleast 16 weeks if filing by paper to saying no return found. Ugh…

Still no update. Called yesterday (1/30) and they said refund has been issued. KDOR and my Bank say otherwise as of today.

That’s very comforting to know! Hopefully everything goes smoothly, the kdor refund status tool went from saying it was accepted and processing to no information can be found… I hope THAT changes soon as well. I’m already getting anxiety over this tax season and it’s driving me crazy.

Does anyone know if 10-99’s will be the same as w-2’s as far as them not accepting it to wait on those? I know the mount so I went with that, but usually state accepts my return right away. Not the case this year.

I got the same letter today. First time that’s happened. I called and they said it’s because sometimes when they are filed early that they haven’t gotten any info on their end like W2’s and such to help finish processing. And that is why they want the filed return and w2 sent in. He also said they usually process faxes within 24 hours do after that it should be right back on track to the original time frame it would’ve been on to start with. It makes me feel better to know that other people have gotten the same thing.

Just got a letter from KDOR asking for me to send in a copy of my complete federal tax return. Nothing has changed from filing last year, does anyone know what the reasoning could be? Not much help on the phone and i just went ahead and faxed all the info over. I was hoping to have it deposited by wednesday, following the same timeline as last year.

I filed via the Kansas Dept. of Revenue online filing system on January 18 and was accepted. Refund was in my account this morning (Jan. 24). The online system never updated to show me an expected direct deposit date – it was just there this morning.

Last night updated to “refund has been deposited 2/7”
It’s 2/8 and is not in my account but I’m guessing it will be in the morning.
Basically it takes a week for them to review your return and from my research it only updates for dd Tuesday nights with immediate dd which shows up Thursday’s for most.
Can’t complain as it’s way faster than federal! -

@catico, I was accepted on the 21st and it said no information but then I got it on the 26th without the KDOR site ever changing. I got it early in the morning on the Emerald card.

Has anyone that filed on the 25th or after received their state refund yet? I looked at the dashboard the day after I filed and it said accepted. Every single day after that it said information not found. I called KDOR on Thursday and a lady I talked to said that it showed on her end that my state return had been processed already and that I should see the funds in my account in the next 3-5 business days. I checked today and still nothing. The dashboard is back up and working, but it still says processing. I have no idea if it’s processing, already processed or whatever the case may be. Just wondering how any other Kansas people are doing with their state refunds?

I just read that someone already got thier Kansas stae refund for this year! They said they it got accepted 3 days ago and shr woke up with the money in her bank! Looks like Kansas is on the ball thus year! Good luck everyone!

Is anyone else still waiting on their Kansas State refund. I filed both state and federal on 2/11 accepted same day and got ddd of 2/26 on 2/21 for federal refund. Still nothing on state though am I the only one waiting???? How long has everyone else waited???

Just an update finally got a response on my KS state refund after 8 weeks of waiting we posted on their fb page and someone finally called us back. All we did was verify our info and he said that they are back logged but he went ahead and real eased our money we just had to wait 3-5 days for it to post. That was Tuesday today is Friday and the wmr site said it released yesterday to wait 5-7 days for deposit. Finally a change :) good luck everyone!
