I just called the IRS and spoke to someone. This is my first year claiming my stepkids since I did get married last year. I claim married filing joint.

Submitted return 1/14
Accepted 1/23
Path 2/16
Afterwards processing
No DDD

Anyways, I am told that since I’m claiming the CTC that there will be a hold until the 27th. It sucks I have to wait but now at least I know and maybe that’s helpful for some of you in the same situation

That’s not right because I was accepted the 14th or 15th of January and I only have ACTC. No EIc and I still do not have a DDD date! Ughhhh. I think we are stuck!

However I noticed the plural (stepkids) so that would be additional child tax credit which would be under the PATH act- wish you could edit these so I didn’t have to post again.!

If you don’t claim EIC, claiming 1 dependent will not be the same as if you claim 2 dependents.

Additional Child tax credit
Earned income tax credit

Those are the only 2 that are under the PATH act. Having 1 CTC (with or without eic) won’t delay you further than what the EIC would by itself.
If that makes sense? So a single dependent claim won’t be delayed unless you claimed EIC.

it’s not CTC that hold you up though it’s either EIC or ACTC. Sounds like some shard BS with you

I believe that since it’s the first time claiming CTC it set off I red flag from what I’m understanding.

But others who claimed that credit who filed in February already have their DDD.
