Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but if HQ is closed today, can we still expect updates tonight?

I used to do corporate disaster recovery, but that was over 20 years ago and I’m not sure how well the IRS plans for this sort of thing given the way they plan for everything else. Perhaps HQ being closed doesn’t even factor into the equation.

When government locations are shut down due to weather essential personnel still need to report to work. So who knows who is essential to the IRS in the heart of tax season.

Most everything is done by the IDRS which is a computer system which won’t be closed to a snow storm.

Also everyone tax returns are sent to there state/ local irs field office. But I don’t think the storm will effect anyone unless you were flagged for review

They better not be closed. Not till after we receive our returns. 😂
