Does anyone know what is going on with filing Iowa State as a part year resident? I cannot submit and the date keeps changing, that they’re available to file.

I filed my taxes on the 17th of February, received my federal right away, state finally popped up that they were issued. The next day it updated gave me the amount and the date they were “issued” the 17th of March, still waiting for my direct deposit….anyone else dealing with this?

Hey again everyone – quick update, it looks like my state refund is gonna be deposited tomorrow. Still says being reviewed to make sure correct on the Iowa Where’s My Refund site. Check your bank accounts for pending deposits. I submitted mine on 1/28 and I do have a dependent. Good luck everyone!

Finally! It changed yesterday to the 14 day message and today to the 5 day message! It says the full amount, it took so long I was worried. A few years ago they garnished my refund because someone with a very similar SSN had an unpaid DUI in a county I’ve never been to, it was a whole stupid thing. But yaaaaas!

Apparently they are doing things quite differently this year. If you have the issued allow 14 day it should update one more time and then you should get your refund the next week in the middle(ish) of the week.

Friday morning it updated to refund sent allow 5 days and I got the full amount in my checking early this morning.

@Hoiland51 2 years ago my return said the same thing and I had a speeding ticket from one of the cameras they took that amount out of my return, if amount is not showing they usually adjusted amount or something was owed to state.. I would call the IA offset line or IA IRS they can tell you

I just updated to this a few minutes ago, it didn’t say that yesterday or when I checked earlier this morning, so, maybe check Iowa’s WMR again. Be careful though, I think they only allow you to check 2-3 times a day.

@sk, you did pretty good for having no eyes…lol I have been trying to get them to verify my DD information, I also asked them about the amount, because it doesn’t show on the website. The phone agents literally just check the WMR site. He did dig a little deeper after he saw that it did not, in fact, show an amount. Geesh dude, I’m not going to lie about that, I was told that someone would call me back to verify DD information, but of course, no one did.

The only thing that changed on mine was date return received lol it reads it received return on 24 th lol. I think They are stretching it out as close to the 6 week mark as they can sign this year with our backlash. -
I don’t understand why a direct deposit takes 10 days let alone 14, Iowa really needs to get it together. I also updated to refund sent. So we still don’t know when the refund is coming.

After like 2 weeks of saying my return was being reviewed, the status finally changed to we are preparing your refund for payment on Sunday morning. As of this morning it says it’s been issued, however, it’s still not in my account. Does anybody have any idea how long that will take? I am very impatient as I’m really counting on this money.

@clara it says it updates live but i find that’s not factual it usually only updates overnights.I have found over the years in reality once per week mine always updates over night Tues.but some says they update over on Fri so i am really unsure of this.But generally overnights yes.

Thank you I was wondering how it was going to go this year.I have never seen this message before and was concerned .From what I understood from last year reading an interesting article if they were going to do what they have done last few years to cover their butts from passing a very bad law. @dm that is a generic holding message before they send out your refund. Most likely, as Iowa only seems to update once per week, people will see their refunds deposited before that message changed. I had to call on Monday for a different issue and I asked about my refund, she said it was finished and approved and that I would be getting it this week. Their WMR didn’t update until Wednesday and then it went to this message. They are saying 30-45 days this year, I am assuming the faster timeline is because of the backlash on the 6-8 week timeline last year.

So, my status changed this morning to “Being Reviewed” I had never seen that before, so I called to find out what it meant, the lady on the phone says it stays in the “Review” status until the refund is sent.

But I have read where due to the people of Iowa speaking on how long it took last year or so to get refunds that the Department of revenue is trying to get refund sent within 30 days. I filed on Turbo Tax 1/20, accepted 1/27, their refund tracking still has us processing, the woman I spoke to on the phone said it’s finished and the refund was approved and that I should receive it this week.

If I may ask when did you file your Iowa return. I filed mine on 1/25 was accepted on 1/28. Went from received to processing your return for about a couple of weeks now. I read your comment did you file earlier in the year? It would be nice if they released them early instead of like 6-8 wks. in the previous year.

I just talked to the state, they said our return has been processed, refund has been approved and we should have it sometime this week. WooHoo! BTW, I had to call them because my State status on Turbo Tax changed from accepted to rejected this morning I was freaking out!

@mandalynne No, I don’t think so. As far as I’m aware, the only way to know if you have an offset, before they just send you a lesser amount, is to call the offset line.

We just got the message that they have our return and it is being processed. I read an article stating that they had a 30 day timeframe from receipt for getting the refunds issued, if it starts to go beyond 45 they’ll bump up overtime. Fingers crossed that this is true. It would be really nice to get it before April this year.

TT has my Iowa State return accepted, however, when I check Iowa’s WMR, it says there is no match in the system, how long does it usually take with Iowa? This is only our 2nd year filing in this state, last year was a weird situation so I don’t think we can go by that.

Reinna Waseskuk, the irs does pay interest but under certain circumstance. Amended refunds often have interest applied but also refunds that are sent 45 days after April 15th usually have interest on them. I believe it is 5% interest now. Two years ago mine was really late. I filed in February with injured spouse and I did something wrong so it was my mistake but they also didn’t notify me for a couple months and then I just stalled on resending it. I finally re-sent it August and they got me the refund in 4 weeks with $83 in interest.

I was accepted on 2/28 . It still say just that. Accepted. If they are trying to wait it out for whatever reason they should pay us interest. I’f it were us expected to pay them. Good lord, they would throw charges at us left and right.

Just another update, around 6:30am or so this morning I updated to the refund issued message and now says please allow 5 days to expect your deposit, and it shows my full refund amount on the bottom. I anticipate to see it in my bank maybe by monday or tuesday next week. However I do bank with a credit union and deposits come in sometimes at night or mornings, pending when they receive the notification. For more details I posted yesterday when I finally exited the processing message.

However no amount listed, however I don’t expect details till possibly tomorrow when it usually updates to refund sent or whatever. It doesn’t even seem like they’re doing it in any particular order! I filed before SKR and still nothing! Filed 2/25. Says they received it 2/25 and that they are processing it. It has never said anything about an acceptance or approval date. I for one feel that if they’re going to take this long every year, we should be getting compensated with the interest our money occurs for every day that it takes them to release it after they receive it.

From what I am understanding this year they are going to be 2 Updates on deposits. The first one will read you will receive your deposit in 14 days. The second update most are saying the following day from 14 day update you will get your direct deposit date..

Since you filed in January did you claim EITC? Just curious because I claimed EITC and filed on January 24th. I have American Express Serve for my direct deposit. I know some state refunds were sent out due to not having any EITC.

Yes I feel you very much. I filed back on January 24th and since then it’s been saying 8 weeks then in Feb. it said allow at least 2 wks. then it went back to 8 wks. I even tried calling them a couple of times and one rep. said allow 8 wks. now this was last week and so I asked him so around the 24th of March and he said if you have not received anything by then to check back. This is getting to sound a little shady how much more identity protection do they need to go through does not make since. -

If that is the case then seems like for me 60 from January 24 would be correct if counting weekend days. But still falls in that March timeframe. Maybe something will update next week. Frustrating.

Well, I called the Iowa DOT yesterday. After a 2 hour wait on hold (really!) I finally spoke to a man who said the refunds were delayed for about 60 days.
I also asked him about the wording on the IDOT website mentioned in my post above:
“We have received your return. It is being reviewed. If additional information is needed, you will receive a letter from us. Returns filed electronically are typically resolved within 60 days of the date below. Returns filed on paper should be resolved within 3 to 6 months from the date below.”
I was concerned that the words ‘reviewed’ and ‘resolved’ (instead of ‘processed’) indicated there was something wrong with my return. The fellow I spoke to assured me that was not the case.

I filed on January 23 and it was received on January 24. Alot of people from Iowa are in the same boat. Only when I check mine refund status for Iowa it states “We have received your return. Please allow an additional 8 weeks to complete processing of your return.

It has been showing this since I filed. But back in February it went from allow 2 weeks then back to this message above. Now I have spoken to a couple of representatives with a long time wait. And he stated to allow 8 wks. which aware of and I stated so around the 24th would be 8 wks. for me from that date. And also I have been reading on different websites where it says Iowa will not be releasing refunds until early March here it is early March and still no signs. If I do not see any change by next week I am calling again. This is nuts. I received my federal back on February 20. -

I filed electronically on March 1. I got my Federal refund direct deposited into my bank on March 7.
I still haven’t got my Iowa refund. When I checked the Iowa Dept of Revenue site, I got this message:
“We have received your return. It is being reviewed. If additional information is needed, you will receive a letter from us. Returns filed electronically are typically resolved within 60 days of the date below. Returns filed on paper should be resolved within 3 to 6 months from the date below.”
Has anyone else got this message? I’m concerned that they said my return is being ‘reviewed’ rather than processed, and that it is being ‘resolved’. Also that time frame seems excessive.
Do I need to be worried that there is a problem and they are going to audit me or is it just a standard message?

@ Kay I called them and asked them about updates for our state taxes and the lady I spoke to on the phone had the nerve to tell me that their website does NOT state the refunds will be issued early march! After arguing with her for about 5 min I got so mad I just hung up! I wish they would just release our refunds.

I know I am waiting also, have not seen very many people post about Iowa refund. This is pretty much early March. I know 8 wks. for me will be the week of the 24th. I filed back on 1/24. -
I still have not received my refund and I’m getting very frustrated! On the website it clearly states that anyone that claimed the EITC will receive their refund Early March! So where’s our money it’s all b.s.

Just a followup with anyone here it is the second week of March and I heard that state refunds will be issued early March. Has anyone heard any other updates or changes? Anyone still waiting for theirs?

Yeah, 8 weeks here also. I have no EIC or any of that stuff. I’m tweaking my with holding for next year. I about got it right this year so at least my refund is pretty small.

Anyone from Iowa still waiting on state refund. Filed back in January accepted 1/24. Still saying allow 8 wks. to process. Went from 2 weeks last month to back to 8 wks. I spoke with someone this morning he just said allow at least 8 wks. So I stated to keep checking the wheres my refund link on Iowa dept. of revenue site around the 24th that would be 8 wks from my date. Anyone else spoke to someone and getting any where in the same boat. I am definitely aware of this EIC thing as well with it.

I sent in a paper return to the State IRS and Federal IRS, The paper return was accepted by State the day after I sent it in. I was in the “please allow 3-6 months” to process paper returns until today, now it states from Iowa “We have received your return. Please allow an additional 8 weeks to complete processing of your return.”
So, I will update this if I receive a return before the 8 weeks from today, Feb. 27th, 2017. But, I more than likely won’t since my ex husband illegally claimed the children on his return and e-filed before I could, hence the paper filing. I did send in the copy of divorce decree proving he couldn’t claim them, so I hope this speeds it up, but more than likely not.
I did notice one thing that can be counted on, if YOU owe the IRS they want their money “right now!” or in payment plans, if the IRS owes us, we must beg, plead, prove we deserve it, and then wait wait wait until the IRS decides it will give it to us.
I understand the Fraud aspect, and it is a shame that the IRS has to hold onto legitimate returns because of Fraud, thank you My Ex Husband, as you now fall into the category of people that make our tax returns take much longer, not just for me, but for everyone because he committed fraud.
There has got to be a better way!!!
On a side note, federal IRS still states they haven’t even seen my return yet… Erghhhh!

My son filed his state return on January the 26th,2017 and he received his direct deposit in early February.I filed mine on January the 27th,2017 and today is a month later.I am still receiving the message stating allow 8 weeks for processing.I read that if there is an E.I.T.C involved in the return that the refund will be issued in March.After March the 1st hopefully the state will release the refunds.

Well…according to the Iowa DoR Facebook page, ALL returns are being held this year not just those who claimed PATH credits.

I filed the 3rd so I expect I won’t see any money until the mid to latter part of March. I can understand being careful and conscientious but this borders on ridiculous. I won’t be e-filing my state taxes in the future since apparently, paper filers aren’t being subjected to these arbitrary holds.

Filed and accepted on 2/3 although the Iowa DoR website didn’t update to show that for a few days. Has said “Allow 2 additional weeks for processing” since that time. We are not claiming any of the credits that are slowing others down, but this is the slowest turnaround in refund issuance I can remember. Usually, about a week after filing we get our money. This year, for the first time ever, the fed is going to beat the state in turnaround time.

I filed my state taxes on 1/23 and logged in next day and showed my receipt date of 1/24. But got to allow at least 8 wks. for processing. They are taking this identity thing serious also. I filed my sons income tax and his says processing for at least 2 wks. So has to do with this identity and EIC thing I’m sure as I was reading on their website.

I was a little sad when I checked my state and saw the “at least 8 weeks to process”. Then I did some googling and found out that iowa state is not releasing refunds with EIC until March.

Filed on 1/17 today it showed is was relieved and to all AT LEAST 8 WEEKS to process. SERIOUSLY GRRR

I filed electronically in February. The state accepted my return on Feb.22. The only message that has been showing since then is to allow up to 60 days and that they will send a letter if they need additional information. Today is April 6th. It has bsen 45 days, haven’t received a letter and still no update.

My bank has it pending for tomorrow. So it took a total of 13 days. BUT my WMR for federal still hasn’t changed

I filed the 18 and it got accepted the 18 but on the iowa page it says the 19th. I called as I wanted to know how often they update that page and they told me mine was approved just waiting on DDD.

Well today it changed from the 60 day review to please allow 2 weeks to finish processing and now has a processing date of 2/23.Anyone else.No letter, and i didnt call to do anything.

02/16/16……I just talked with state of Iowa….. Here’s the scoop: There was a few week time frame that all of the refunds are being held because the IRS notified the state of Iowa that there were fraudulent returns filed. He said people that were not entitled to refunds filing for them. I filed on 02/07/16 it was processed on 02/09/16 still says allow 2 weeks for processing. No further updated on the website. Agent said my return has finished processing but he told me that I got caught in that group of people. The group that has the payments held will be released at the end of this week which would be the 02/19/16. My son’s was accepted on 02/01/16 and his now says that It is under review and will be released within 60 days if not sooner. My take on his is that he moved this past year and has a new address and a new bank account and they are making sure it is going to the correct person.

Mine says it is being reviewed and that if they need more info they will send a letter. Got the letter today and asking to send a copy of the W2

Submitted Taxes last week and federal and state were accepted.Checked Iowa state the past few days with a message of not received, however it just updated to received and is under review and usually is resolved within 60 days, and then has a processing date of 2/8/16. anyone else receive this, and how lomg does it usually take? as of right not is says to do nothing, if information is needed they will send a letter…..

Hi Mine had both first like you April stayed that way 2 days then the possess2/3 issued 2/3 still nothing but did say at the bottom allow up to 5 days

I was accepted on the 14th, this morning it said it was aprroved and to wait 14 days from the issue date for my check but I requested direct deposit and there isn’t a issue date just a processing date.
