Help please! Offset hotline/wage garnishment

Hi all,

Hoping you can help. My husband has a PA State student loan that went into default and his wages have been garnished for a year. When we called the offset line his soc. brought up no debts. Last year, the loan was in default and he was near garnishment and we did not get out tax return taken. Any clue as to why?? We did our taxes and are getting a large amount back, but we are nervous it is going to get taken, regardless we know it is going toward the debt. Has anyone has their social be clear on the offset hotline but have still get their refund taken?

Only federal student loans will be garnished from federal refund. Your PA state refund will be offset for a state loan.
