Green Dot Hold???

Is it true that Green dot holds high refunds? Do I need to call them in advance to tell them its coming?

My husband and I both use Gobank (which goes thru Green Dot) and have never had a problem.

I’ve had my card for 8 years, with my tax refund coming every year. I’ve never had a prob. My account has been put on hold a few times when I’ve made a ton of purchases in one day. It took a quick call to the automated system and verifying my purchases and it was ok.

The only information I am finding on holds is stuff any bank would possibly put holds on an account for. Change of address, spending a lot more erratically than usual, etc.

I have not found a single complaint online that has enough information about how they customer used their card before a hold was placed, so I am taking those stories with a grain of salt. I get paid monthly so I have decent sized checks. Never had a hold placed after tons of transactions that first week after getting paid.

I have Gobank, which is pretty much Greetdot from what I have read.

They advertise that you can get your refund early on their site but when I used that card, I only once got it early, and that was at 9pm the night before the DDD. Every other time it was there in the morning when I woke up on my DDD.
