It seems like if that is what they are waiting on they would say that when we call instead of just saying “it is processing”. This processing time is the worst ive experienced since i started filing my taxes.
So far everyone that I saw that got their refund from GA, faxed their w2. Maybe they are waiting on employers to submit w2s…. Just a guess
MaryNo change here either.
MsJGood morning
No change – no DDD, still saying 6-8 weeks processing. This is the longest it’s ever taken. I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe you guys will have better luck than I.

No state refund as of todayMaryNo, and I asked! I usually get my state first too. Last year, it was 10 days. She had no explanation for any delays or the screwy system glitches. Tomorrow is 21 days and the estimated day h&r block said, so fingers crossed!
Yone@Mary did they say what is taking so long this year? I usually get my state first.
MaryI just called and spoke with someone and was told that a credit showing means nothing except they have received my return. She said that it does not indicate that they have processed it.
AshleyAlso the where’s my refund is still showing “Your return has been received. Please contact the Taxpayer Services Division Individual Section at 1-877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711) to speak to a Taxpayer Services Representative during our normal business hours M-F 8am -5pm” So don’t rely on that to update for information regarding your deposit. My tax center account balance did go to $0.00 though.
AshleyUp until last Thursday I could see my credit listed on my account, then I was asked to send my W2 which I promptly faxed, I was told it would take about 12 weeks to process. Friday I called to verify they received the W2 and I noticed that my account showed a balance. I spoke to a rep and she told me they received the W2 and that it would take them at least 3-4 weeks to process, once I asked her about the balance showing on my account she told me to hold on and came back and told me she was going to go ahead and push my refund through because everything on my W2 matched. She told me that I should receive my funds in 30-45 days but I received them this morning.
no update for me
MaryAnyone have any change to their status this am?
AnonymousSo – following the posts I didn’t understand seeing the credit either, so I created a login :). However, I have a NEGATIVE $5.00 credit. I owed back taxes, so it appears they credited my refund this year to the debt as the numbers make sense for this…However, I thought they were going to offset my federal refund for the full amount. Before I even filed w/ state or federal, the IRS offset line listed the debt w/ the state, so I’m sure they submitted the full amount to IRS. Is it typical for them to take from state refund, then let IRS know the difference owed??
Anonymous@Cathy Thank you. Some of those links were not showing up on the mobile site. I was able to register from my desktop.
Go here https://gtc.dor.ga.gov/_/ and click on “create my username” under “sign up” in lower right side of page
Jturne87I have seen several posters mention being able to see a credit when they log into their GA Tax Center account. How do you create an account?
Also, early last week I had the “your return has been recieved, please call and speak with a rep” message. I spoke with someone who said that my return had been processed, the refund had been approved, and that they were in the process of generating the tefund. A couple of days later I started getting the “6 to 8 weeks” message. Any ideas when I may see a refund?
MSJ@Cathy
Another poster posted it in this same forum.mSJ where did you get that info? My credit has been showing since last week & I still have not received
mSJFrom what I was told, once the credit appears you should get it within 2 to 3 business days. my credit appeared Wednesday, so I am hoping it is shows up in my account by morning. If it does I will let you all know.
MaryI too see a credit on my acct. Any idea what that means in terms of actual processing and receipt of refund?
AmrtWhen I log in to my GA Tax Center account I can see my credit. I have the 6-8 week msg when I check my refund status. I filed early & my return was accepted on 1/14.
MaryWhere do you see a credit? And those who had a deposit, did your 6-8 week message change first?
BeckyHas anyone received their Ga refund? I’ve got the 6-8 week message. Anyone heard anything?
msJji can see the refund but when is the release date?
antionettaSo this was my first time using Georgia’s WMR site. I filed on 1/23/16 both federal and state and they were both accepted on 1/23/16. I got the message everyone else got about calling the 800 number so I called and the rep told me it was just a generic message and didn’t ask me any questions. Now when I check it says allow 6-8 weeks for processing. My refund is under 1K.
I haven’t moved past 1 bar on federal WMR either…sucks!I can see my credit when I log in to my account, but when are they refunding that credit is the million dollar question…
Anonymous@Cathy Boyett – I’m expecting a small refund (under 1K), but still haven’t received since accepted on 1/20.
Nicole, was it a large refund? I’ve read where some have received GA refunds but they were small refunds.
Anonymous@Nicole – dang I was also accepted on 1/20, but no deposit yet :(. Did the GA WMR status update to showing DDD for you? This is the first time I’ve used their WMR, so I don’t know what the norm is.
NkshafalHas anyone spoke to a rep and found out why such a delay this year. Nicole is the only person that I have seen with a Georgia refund.
Nicole@bltyler1 sorry for the late response, yes my refund was received 02/03/2016 in my account. It was accepted on 01/20/2016
AnonymousNicole – so you received your actual deposit today? When was your return accepted?
JenniferIt seems maybe everyone is getting this 6-8 week message! And I don’t know anyone who has actually received a Georgia state refund yet! Very frustrating!
Has anyone actually received a refund from GA yet? If so, when was your return accepted? I filed mine on 1/19 & it was accepted 1/20, today the status is :
Your tax return has been received. Please allow 6-8 weeks from the date filed for your tax return to complete processing.Georgia Department of Revenue issues most refunds within 30 business days. Our phone and walk-in representatives can research the status of your refund only if it has been 30 days or more since you filed electronically, more than 6 weeks since you mailed your paper return, or if “Where’s My Refund?” directs you to contact us.
Before making an inquiry, please allow thirty business days.
AnonymousOk I see I’m not the only one who status changed from Please contact the Georgia Department of Revenue at 1- 877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711 to speak to a Rep. Now it saying please allow 6-8 weeks for processing.
MarleneRob did you have a state off set ?
Same with me. Now says give 6-8 weeks. I haven’t gotten state or federal refund. Dying a slow death over here! UUGGGHHHHHH
NicoleThe message will change, give it a few days. Status for me changed yesterday, this morning it was in my account.
@christina1178: Mine did the same thing this morning. Before, it told me to call a number. I called the number a few days ago, and they told me that the message to call that number was a glitch, and that my refund was pending release. This morning, that message has gone away, and it simply says to wait 6 weeks to it to be processed. I did get my federal in my bank account this morning though, and that’s better than a state refund any day!
christina1178When I checked the Ga State refund status it states a different message than it did before. Any idea what this means? They’re saying my return has been recieved and to please allow 6 to 8 weeks for processing?
“
robI got what appears to be my state refund this morning….but it was only $59 and it should have been $853. anyone else have this issue? im calling them this morning to find out.
AnonymousIs it mandatory to call because I’m confused. Normally they just release them
I called this morning. The lady said it was a glitch about calling the 800 number and everyone’s says that BUT she did say it can take 30-45 days to get refund. So I’m not thinking I’m seeing state refund anytime soon.
BeckySo I got the message to call in to a service rep for GA. I called them last Monday and verified my name and address. Still have the same message on GA WMR and no money. I was accepted on the 20th. Should they really be taking this long?
Just to calm anyone’s nerves who may have seen this error message… “Your return has been received, and it is currently being processed. Please contact the Taxpayer Services Division Refund Inquiry Section at 1-877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711) to speak to a Taxpayer Services Representative.”
I had this message showing on my GA state refund status when I checked the status. I thought something was wrong, and everyone else was advising to call the number because something was being reviewed. I called and spoke with a lady just a minute ago. She told me that this was a system glitch and that my refund was pending release. She said not to worry, that nothing was wrong and there was no need to call this number. :) Hopefully I’ll have my $ soon!
NicoleHi all just wanted to share some info for the longest since my acceptance the status of my Georgia refund has stated:
“Your return has been received, and it is currently being processed. Please contact the Georgia Department of Revenue at 1- 877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711) option 3 to speak with a Representative.”
I wasn’t gonna call because I was hoping it would just update on its own but it didn’t Anyway I called the number and hit the option provided, I was asked a few questions name address ssn and where i was employed for the year 2015 and just like that my refund was released. Don’t wait guys go ahead and call so you can get the same results. I checked the status again and it shows processing and the message to call the number is gone.
Hope this helps :-)
sadieMine is still processing. Accepted Jan 20
Becky@amchelem
Did you have to call in and verify info for GA. Do you mind me asking what day was you accepted?
ThanksamchelemWhen I go to check the status it says my deposit date is tomorrow.
BeckyAnyone got any money from GA yet? I’m still getting processing message.
Bugsy1971Those posts about Option 3 are from last year. The dates are all from 2015.
It seems like everyone is getting the same message. For a few hours on Wednesday, mine said under review then went back to this processing message that everyone has.
I’m hoping to see something positive from them Monday. Georgia has been really fast the last few years, although it seems they keep finding issues with me. Four years ago, I worked for a company that was an ESOP. The company was sold and us longtime employees received a good chunk of change. I opted for them to go ahead and pay my taxes out of it, and they did.
The state of Georgia however, claimed they had no record of receiving the money, federal did though, and it’s been a fight with them ever since. Last year they kept my entire refund and once again, I sent in all of my paperwork and proof that they were paid. They decided I owed a few penalties and interest, because of their screw up and eventually gave me part of my refund. We should be even now as I haven’t heard anything from them since them.
My state isn’t a huge amount, but I still want it….and soon.
I got the same thing this morning, but I went through it last year. All I had to do is call and verify some info and received my refund in 2-3 days. They told me 21 days, though. The best way to get through is to press option 1 to check the status and after you go through the process it will automatically transfer you.

i got the same message. i think the one’s without option 3 are generic. but we’ll know on monday
MarleneMine states the same but without the option 3 ….
RebekahMine says this when I inquire, it’s doesn’t say specifically option 3 like everyone else is saying. Is this the same thing?
Your return has been received, and it is currently being processed. Please contact the Taxpayer Services Division Refund Inquiry Section at 1-877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711) to speak to a Taxpayer Services Representative.
ChantaI had the same thing happen to me. They most likely will want a copy of your W2. Your return has been processed already but they will not apply any taxes that you paid them until you provide them a copy of your w2. In the meantime, you will receive a bill for them indicating that you owe them taxes. Once they receive your w2, your taxes will sit in quene until they can revise it. Once they revise it, they will adjust your taxes withheld. If they owe you money back, you get a refund.
My state taxes were accepted 02/01. Sent them my W2 on 2/09. Spoke to many reps and supervisor before I was given detailed information about their processes. As of today 02/24 they have not worked any faxes received prior to 02/09. I am waiting for the supervisor to call me back to inform me of what date they are working. Hopefully this will help those that are still waiting on their Ga state refund.
Anonymous***THIS IS AN IMPORTANT UPDATE***
If on the Georgia Refund website it specifically says
Please contact the Georgia Department of Revenue at 1- 877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711) option 3 to speak with a Representative
YOU MUST, YOU MUST, call the number, choose option 3, then choose option 3 again (even if you have not talked to someone before) then either stay in the que or when they ask for a call back number give them your number and they will call back from a Utah number, and then you have to verify a bunch of information and they will then AND ONLY THEN, release your refund. If you do not do this, then I have been told they will eventually release your refund after 3-5 months. They are saying this is because identity theft, but I am convinced it is a stalling tactic.
YOU HAVE TO CALL!!!

JillieI checked the GA WMR today and got this message — “Your return has been received, and it is currently being processed. Please contact the Georgia Department of Revenue at 1- 877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711) option 3 to speak with a Representative.”
Is it because my husband had several W-2’s this year? Or does it have to do with my 1099? I have no idea what this could be about and want to have an idea before I call.
ShanihwI received this same message. Called in and had to verify all of my employers for 2014. She then released my return and said to expect the refund in 7-21 days.
AnonymousMy GA account has changed to a negative… when it was on option 3 forever!
Faith HFor those getting the dreaded ‘800 number option 3’ message. Option 3 is the Special Investigations/Fraud department. We got that message last year and had to fax in our W2s for income verification. We got it again this year, they need W2s again and said after they receive those and verify our income they will process our refund in a few weeks.
I asked the reasoning behind needing to verify income and they stated 2013 it was because my husband changed jobs…..understandable. He, however, did NOT change jobs in 2014 and they still need to verify income :(. I think we’re on a list LOL
Faith HJust called, option 3 is ‘Special Investigations and Fraud Detection’, and again they need W2s for income verification. My DH changed jobs in 2013 and she said they need W2s to verify income for that. I told her we SENT them in already for 2013 and she said yep….but he didn’t work there a full year in 2013 so we need to verify them again in 2014. Then gave me the number to fax them in, told me I could call back in 48 hours to make sure they received the W2 and then it would take a few weeks for a refund. GREAT!!!!
Faith HI got that last year, and just checked and have it again this year. Last year we had to fax in W2s to verify income. Too early to call today, but I’m guessing it’s something similar.
BEndicottI checked the GA WMR today and got this message — “Your return has been received, and it is currently being processed. Please contact the Georgia Department of Revenue at 1- 877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711) option 3 to speak with a Representative.”
Has anyone else received this message and called and spoken with someone about this?? I don’t know what it could be about…and I would love to have an idea before I call. So, has anyone else had to deal with this?!?!
cdavis3782What does this mean? Your return has been received, and it is currently being processed. Please contact the Georgia Department of Revenue at 1- 877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711) option 3 to speak with a Representative.
Ms MitcjRefund tracker gives me information doesn’t match. Accepted on 1/13. Called number doesn’t give an option for 2014 tax year! Never had this happen before.
Ms MitcjGa refund tracker gives me information doesn’t match message. Got accepted on 1/13/15. When call it doesn’t give an option for 2014 tax year. Never had this happen to me before.
Thanks! GA just accepted our return Tuesday. I just checked on the GA WMR site and it says ‘we’ve received your return and please allow us 6-8 weeks to process’ WTF??? I’m not sure if that’s a generic message they give everyone or if we will get reviewed as well. I wouldn’t be surprised since we did owe them and they put a lien against us in years past.
I KNOW they owe us money from last year. I’ve done the figuring and we owed them $368 out of the $1068 we put in. Well, they kept the difference AND they took the money from our federal return. I plan on having them show US how the kept this money AFTER we get our $819 they owe us this year. I don’t want to cause them any reason to hold the funds this year. We need every little penny we can get our family needs to get into a new place ASAP. We did not get as much federal back as we were thinking we’d get. We had a new baby in 2012 giving us 3 children. Family members who have 3 kids get back 9K and more each year, so I thought we would. NOPE… 5485.00. Our income did increase this year from last year, so it reduced our EIC a good bit. I know its better to make more income we were just kind of depending on that 9k…lol
AnonymousThanks Karma! I hope my excel spreadsheet mileage log is good enough for them. I would honestly think they’d have bigger fish to fry. Guess that’s what happens when you file early and they’ve got time on their hands. Good luck with yours this year! I’ll send good thoughts your way!
Haven’t had GA to accept my return yet,but I’m wondering how things will go w/them this year. They aren’t the easiest to work with.
I wish you the best of luck with them. IF you end up owing them anything my advice is to pay them rather quickly. We did not and a debt of $700 increased to an extreme amount and then they took out a lien on us, which is now on our credit reports for several years. Its paid and all but getting it off your credit is damn near impossible and it cost us much more to obtain any loans or cc’s.
I do hope it doesn’t come to this for you and you get your refund. We had an offset where they took their money from our fed return last year, but our state return was processed first so they took all of that AND the FULL amount from our federal return. So we have now overpaid, but it looks like they just took that as a tip, because they won’t give it back to us. I don’t get it.
AnonymousI just received notice from GA that they want documentation regarding my schedule C deductions. They literally want me to copy all my receipts and milage logs and mail it all to them before they will pay my $2,000 refund. crazy. I hate GA….
anyone else in GA having the same issue?
