I filed on 1/23 and was accepted on 1/25
CareBearDoes anyone have an account on the GA Tax Center website. When I log into mine, it shows a status for my 2016 return as Error- Timely. The other years have Filed- Timely. Then when I check the status of my refund I get “your return has been received and it is currently being processed” along with the Feb. 1 message. So is there something wrong with my return that I need to correct?
MsJones@Kum when did you file and when were you accepted?
Still processing, it will take up to 90 days. That sucks if it does.
KimI’m getting this message…

MsJonesFiled 1/23 accepted 1/24 – was able to check status on 1/26 – says allow 90 days for processing also says that GA will not begin processing returns until 2/1/17.
Anyone else seeing the same thing?
WE FILED ON 1/27/16 RETURN ACCEPTED ON 1/28/16. FED REFUND DEPOSITED ON 2/11/16. NEW MESSAGE TODAY SAYS:
Your tax return has been received and is being processed. Please allow 30 business days to complete processing. An updated status may be available in 15 business days.SPOKE TO A PHONE REP EARLIER THIS WEEK AND MY REFUND HAS BEEN RELEASED FOR PAYMENT… ON THE GA TAX CENTER LOG IN, MY REFUND AMOUNT IS IN GREEN AND THE ACCOUNT BALANCE HAS JUST BEEN SITTING LIKE THIS FOR OVER A WEEK NOW.
I HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT….SO WTF? WHY HOLD MONEY FOR NO REASON?
HOW LONG HAVE OTHERS WAITED BETWEEN RELEASE AND DEPOSIT?
YOU KNOW I THINK I WANT INTEREST ON THE REFUND THEY ARE HOLDING…THEY WOULD CHARGE ME INTEREST IF I WAS LATE PAYING…JUST SAYING
Rachelrs87I filed 1/13. Accepted 1/29. Federal DDD 2/3. Received my federal 2/3.
Kept checking my state off and on and they posted a message that said to call. So I did. They told me it was a glitch, and that nothing was wrong with my return. To wait 30 days and I should have my money.
Two weeks later, still hadn’t received my money. Checked the status and it told me to call the 1-800 number and choose option 3 for fraud prevention. I did. She verified my address, employer, social security number, etc. Said she released my return and I should receive it within two weeks.
The next day I checked my status, and it said I had a DDD of 2/23.
2/23, my deposit wasn’t received. Still didn’t have it 2/24.
Checked the status this morning and it says “Your direct deposit was transmitted to your designated bank account; however, your refund failed to deposit because of incorrect information provided. Please allow an additional 30 days and a paper check will be mailed to the address provided on your return.”
Called them. Sat on hold for over 30 minutes for a guy to tell me that my information “didn’t match”, even though its the same address I’ve always used. I used my moms address to file, which I have since I was 18. But the state of GA has my physical address on file because of my driver’s license, I suppose. So they mailed my check to a totally different address than what I filed with. Whatever kind of damn sense that makes. He informed me that my check was mailed yesterday, and that I should receive it in 7 business days. What a bunch of BS.
Lola BI filed 1/29. GA accepted 1/30. Had the 6-8 week thing until 2 days ago. Then it went to its being processed if you don’t get it in 30 days call them. Yesterday it showed a DDD of 2/25. Woke up this morning (2/25) and money is in the account.
Hope this helps someone else. Fyi, nothing different as far as employers etc this year. Did not have to call at all.AnonymousAfter calling & verifying my info yesterday per the change in message on the WMR page, today the message updated again to:
“Your Georgia income tax refund is scheduled to be transmitted, or was transmitted, to your designated bank account on 2/25/2016. Please allow 5-7 business days from that date and verify your designated account information to confirm receipt.”
Rachelrs87@Kimberly: Mine didn’t route through SBBT. Mine should have been straight deposited, but for some reason it wasn’t… My bank doesn’t hold things like that. My Federal had a DDD of 2/3, and bright and early on 2/3 it was there. I’m not sure what’s going on with my state, but it’s seriously starting to piss me off. lol. Just give it to me already so we can be done with it, geeeeez.
AnonymousMy status also changed from the 6-8 wks to – your refund is processing call number blah blah option 3. So I called today, & got a rep after about 30 minutes. She had me verify my name, address, company I worked for, & then said my refund would be released anywhere from 7 to 30 days.
Kimberly@rachelrs87. I had the same issue too. The state sent it to sbbt this morning. Depending onbhow your bank process’s we should have deposit tomorrow.
Rachelrs87Had a DDD of 2/23…. Still no deposit!!! Georgia is being friggin ridiculous this year!
KimberlyHad 2/23 ddd but no deposit. Anyone else?
I have called every 2 weeks. Went from receiving the 6 weeks message to call an 800 number AGAIn to speak to a representative! What is the deal! SO FRUSTRATED!!!!
candyThey must make deposits everyday because my DDD is 2/22 and I see everyone else has 2/23 ddd
MsJGot the message to call yesterday I called and at t around 11p m it changed to DDD 2/23.
I just changed mine to exempt I won’t be doing this mess next year!I’m glad some are getting results. My msg changed this morning to call the 877 number. I had just talked to them yesterday, now have to wait till Monday and call again. Changing my G-4 next week to have 0 taken out the rest of the year. They will not be using my money again.
KimberlyFinally a ddd of 2/23…it was exactly 30 days from acceptance before getting ddd
DonotstalkI filed 2/5, was accepted by federal 2/6, accepted by Georgia 2/8. Received my federal refund Thursday the 18th, and have a DDD for Georgia for 2/23.
After calling yesterday and verifying the info they requested, I now have a DDD of 2/23
I talked to a rep today also. Not sure what they are telling others, but I was told a CS rep. can not release your refund. I was told there were no problem with my return, but it was being held and it would take 6-8 weeks even if you efiled. I ask why there were some who filed 2 weeks after the ones that filed on 1/19 and was accepted on 1/20, he said he did not know. Here’s my theory, I am retired from the State of Georgia, worked 32 years with them. In the years where teachers and State employees got a big raise, and that is what has been approved for this fiscal year, a 3% raise, they have held back refunds during those years.
Per DOR Pulse, 281385 refunds issued to date, compared to 569808 same time last year.
I too had the generic processing message until this morning. The 877 number was listed to call when I looked this morning. I called, they verified personal info as well as employer from last year and then said they would release my refund and I could expect it within the next 30 business days.
I’ve been checking the status pretty much everyday, each day it had the generic please allow 6-8 weeks for your refund to be sent to you. Today I checked, and it gave me the 1-800 number and told me to choose option 3. I called, was on hold for over 40 minutes. I finally got a rep on the phone, she asked my social security number, my name, address, expected refund amount, and where i worked last year, and then she said she released my refund. She said to allow 30 days for my return to be sent to me, but the turnaround time was about 2 weeks. She also said that Georgia has everyone’s refund on hold, and that they just now started releasing them. Maybe that will calm some of all of you guys’ fears. :) If it’s helpful, I filed 1/13. Both federal and state were accepted on 1/19. Got my federal deposited in my account on 2/3, but still waiting on my state. Maybe they’ll give me my money back soon!
candyWent from the 6-8 week message to this..
Your return has been received and is currently being processed, please allow 30 days to receive your refund. If your refund has not been received in 30 days, please log on to the Georgia Department of Revenue website at http://dor.ga.gov/ complete the Replacement Check Request Form and follow the instructions.
Now I checked and it’s has a DDD for 2/22
candyStill no progress!! Horrible
newbieingaI filed 1/21. Every time I check the Ga refund tracker it states my refund received and to please wait 6-8 weeks. I am glad I came to this forum. I see at least I am no the only one.
AnonymousNo update here, still getting the 6-8 weeks message when I check refund status.
candyIn still getting a 6-8 week message I got accepted 1/20 I never had to wait thus long and I have all the same information as previous years
msJ@Kimberly

KimberlySo i called this am and was told pending release. Could be any day now or within the next 30 business days..wtf!#$# i filed on 1/20 and was accepted then
AmrtFinally! This morning when I checked I have a DDD of 2/18 and my account balance is zero!
MaryI got a ddd of 2/18 today so maybe Y’all got some news too.
Filed and accepted 1/20
AshleySo on Monday I had the notice to call the 1877 number and press option 3. I did and a rep asked me a few questions then told me my refund would be released in 7-30 days. For two days I had the message about getting my refund in 30 days or getting a replacement check….I checked this morning…my account has been zeroed out…ddd for 2/18 for state of Georgia refund!!!
Msj@armt
You’re closer than any of us – at least you got a replacement check message.AmrtWhat gives this year????
This morning I logged in and I had the 800# message again. My account still shows the credit. This evening I got this message:
Your return has been received and is currently being processed, please allow 30 days to receive your refund. If your refund has not been received in 30 days, please log on to the Georgia Department of Revenue website at http://dor.ga.gov/ complete the Replacement Check Request Form and follow the instructions.
msJ@Cathy its whenever they decide at this point. I will call Monday like she said if its not there by the weekend.
@MsJ correct me if I’m wrong, 30 business days would be 2/29
MsJ@Cathy
30 Business Days.
I filed and accepted Jan 19thmsJ, 30 business days OR 30 days including weekend?
msJJust spoke to a rep, they are going the full 30days. She said I should get mine within 30 days which puts me at this weekend, and if its not there by Monday to call back. I think I will get a update tonight. IMO
Yea, the updates come after midnight, that’s why I check it each morning.
KimberlyI think they only update over night
No update this morning. This is ridiculous.
KimberlyAccording to the dept of revenue holiday cycle they observe presidents on dec 27 so maybe we all will have some luck today.
Thanks for the info!!
Amrt@Cathy it’s called the DOR pulse. http://dor.georgia.gov/dor-pulse-individual-income-tax-refunds
I still don’t have an update. Tomorrow will be 30 days since my return was accepted (I filed & was accepted early) showing a credit on my GA Tax Center acct. Still getting the 6-8 week message online and when I call.
Jturne87I meant to type 1/20, not 2/20. Mine shows a credit in green, not sure what that means, but it seems a lot of the refunds are ready they are just holding them back. By law they can hold them for 90 days before they have to start paying interest.
MsJWe are all in the same boat! No movement over night or throughout the day. Showing they owe us but it seems to be never coming. I was accepted 1/20 been sitting at 6-8 week message for 3 weeks???? This is out of control now. It’s my last year! I can’t mess with GA – it’s like they are trying to collect interest on us.
Jturne87 I would like to know where you found that information. I do not see anything on the DOR referencing anything in regards to the number of refunds issued…enlighten me, please?
They update once a day, overnight. I think yes, it’s business days, so with the holiday coming Monday all of us that were accepted on 2/20 will be looking at the first week in March before getting refunds. This will be the last year they use my money. I’m retired and do not owe State income tax, I’ll be changing my G-4 to have 0 taken out.
KimberlyDoes anyone know what time of day ga updates sytems…once a day…all day…never???? Filed and accepted 1/20 and still have 6-8 wk message. Im sure it will be after 30 days but is that business days?
AnonymousHopefully, we are starting to see some movement on refunds. As of yesterday, the DOR site showed that they had issued 1,056 refunds this year. That number jumped to nearly 50,000 overnight. I don’t know if there was some issue that has been resolved or what, but fingers crossed that they start issuing refunds quickly from here on out. Just for reference, the site said that at this point last year, they had issued over 700,000 refunds.
I am stuck on the 6 to 8 week message. My account shows a neg balance in the amount of my expected refund. I’m hoping to see that go to $0 and then see a DD shortly after!

ATLANTA, GA- In accordance with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) the Georgia Department of Revenue began accepting individual tax returns on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 and will extend the deadline to Monday, April 18, 2016. The Department of Revenue takes every measure to process tax returns in a timely manner. Due to issues during 2015 regarding security breaches of third party preparers and the constant threat of tax fraud and refund theft, the Department of Revenue is taking additional fraud prevention measures this filing season to ensure tax refunds are issued to the correct individuals. These additional measures may create the need to further review a tax return, and ultimately extend the time between when an individual files their tax return and when they receive their tax refund. Individuals who file error-free, electronic returns may receive their refund within 30 – 45 days from their file date. Individuals who do not file electronically, or error free, may take six to eight weeks from their file date to receive their refund.“Our primary goal is to protect the taxpayers of the State of Georgia,” said Josh Waites, Director of the Department of Revenue’s Office of Special Investigations. “We determined from the 2015 filing season that the additional time between the taxpayer filing their tax return and receiving their refund allows us to better detect fraudulent returns, and ultimately get the refund to the individual it belongs to.”
The Georgia Department of Revenue also offers taxpayers the ability to track their refund through the “Where’s my refund?” feature on the Georgia Tax Center.
Last year my balance zero’d out before I got my refund. But it was 2-3 more days before I received it
MaryThose that received your refund….did the tax center balance zero out before or after? If before, how soon before you received you deposit?
MaryNo change here
Accepted 1/20
Called last week and status changed to 6-8 week messageMsJAccepted 1/20
Still getting 6-8 week message
Pretty much over it nowFinallyFreeMy state taxes got accepted 1/20. Here I am still waiting with a generic “Your return has been received. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for processing” message. Any ideas on when Georgia is finally going to release funds. I just got my federal on 2/10.
