I’ve been checking the status pretty much everyday, each day it had the generic please allow 6-8 weeks for your refund to be sent to you. Today I checked, and it gave me the 1-800 number and told me to choose option 3. I called, was on hold for over 40 minutes. I finally got a rep on the phone, she asked my social security number, my name, address, expected refund amount, and where i worked last year, and then she said she released my refund. She said to allow 30 days for my return to be sent to me, but the turnaround time was about 2 weeks. She also said that Georgia has everyone’s refund on hold, and that they just now started releasing them. Maybe that will calm some of all of you guys’ fears. :) If it’s helpful, I filed 1/13. Both federal and state were accepted on 1/19. Got my federal deposited in my account on 2/3, but still waiting on my state. Maybe they’ll give me my money back soon!February 19, 2016 at 12:18 am #4141940
Went from the 6-8 week message to this..

@Cathy it’s called the DOR pulse. http://dor.georgia.gov/dor-pulse-individual-income-tax-refunds
I still don’t have an update. Tomorrow will be 30 days since my return was accepted (I filed & was accepted early) showing a credit on my GA Tax Center acct. Still getting the 6-8 week message online and when I call.February 13, 2016 at 9:47 am #4139331
Jturne87February 13, 2016 at 9:15 am #4139297
I meant to type 1/20, not 2/20. Mine shows a credit in green, not sure what that means, but it seems a lot of the refunds are ready they are just holding them back. By law they can hold them for 90 days before they have to start paying interest.February 13, 2016 at 8:28 am #4139254
We are all in the same boat! No movement over night or throughout the day. Showing they owe us but it seems to be never coming. I was accepted 1/20 been sitting at 6-8 week message for 3 weeks???? This is out of control now. It’s my last year! I can’t mess with GA – it’s like they are trying to collect interest on us.February 13, 2016 at 8:18 am #4139243
Jturne87 I would like to know where you found that information. I do not see anything on the DOR referencing anything in regards to the number of refunds issued…enlighten me, please?February 13, 2016 at 7:39 am #4139222
They update once a day, overnight. I think yes, it’s business days, so with the holiday coming Monday all of us that were accepted on 2/20 will be looking at the first week in March before getting refunds. This will be the last year they use my money. I’m retired and do not owe State income tax, I’ll be changing my G-4 to have 0 taken out.February 13, 2016 at 7:18 am #4139206
Does anyone know what time of day ga updates sytems…once a day…all day…never???? Filed and accepted 1/20 and still have 6-8 wk message. Im sure it will be after 30 days but is that business days?February 12, 2016 at 1:00 am #4138247
Hopefully, we are starting to see some movement on refunds. As of yesterday, the DOR site showed that they had issued 1,056 refunds this year. That number jumped to nearly 50,000 overnight. I don’t know if there was some issue that has been resolved or what, but fingers crossed that they start issuing refunds quickly from here on out. Just for reference, the site said that at this point last year, they had issued over 700,000 refunds.
I am stuck on the 6 to 8 week message. My account shows a neg balance in the amount of my expected refund. I’m hoping to see that go to $0 and then see a DD shortly after!February 11, 2016 at 4:14 pm #4138024
February 11, 2016
ATLANTA, GA- In accordance with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) the Georgia Department of Revenue began accepting individual tax returns on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 and will extend the deadline to Monday, April 18, 2016. The Department of Revenue takes every measure to process tax returns in a timely manner. Due to issues during 2015 regarding security breaches of third party preparers and the constant threat of tax fraud and refund theft, the Department of Revenue is taking additional fraud prevention measures this filing season to ensure tax refunds are issued to the correct individuals. These additional measures may create the need to further review a tax return, and ultimately extend the time between when an individual files their tax return and when they receive their tax refund. Individuals who file error-free, electronic returns may receive their refund within 30 – 45 days from their file date. Individuals who do not file electronically, or error free, may take six to eight weeks from their file date to receive their refund.
“Our primary goal is to protect the taxpayers of the State of Georgia,” said Josh Waites, Director of the Department of Revenue’s Office of Special Investigations. “We determined from the 2015 filing season that the additional time between the taxpayer filing their tax return and receiving their refund allows us to better detect fraudulent returns, and ultimately get the refund to the individual it belongs to.”
The Georgia Department of Revenue also offers taxpayers the ability to track their refund through the “Where’s my refund?” feature on the Georgia Tax Center.February 11, 2016 at 12:35 pm #4137897
Last year my balance zero’d out before I got my refund. But it was 2-3 more days before I received itFebruary 11, 2016 at 9:24 am #4137724
Those that received your refund….did the tax center balance zero out before or after? If before, how soon before you received you deposit?February 11, 2016 at 8:23 am #4137670
No change here
Called last week and status changed to 6-8 week messageFebruary 11, 2016 at 6:24 am #4137609
Still getting 6-8 week message
Pretty much over it nowFebruary 11, 2016 at 3:15 am #4137580
My state taxes got accepted 1/20. Here I am still waiting with a generic “Your return has been received. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for processing” message. Any ideas on when Georgia is finally going to release funds. I just got my federal on 2/10.
8February 10, 2016 at 6:03 pm #4137352
never mind. I thought he was going to explain what is going on.February 10, 2016 at 5:58 pm #4137350February 10, 2016 at 3:48 pm #4137241
New Fraud Prevention Measures
January 11, 2016
ATLANTA, GA – In accordance with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) the Georgia Department of Revenue will begin accepting individual tax returns on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 and will extend the deadline to Monday, April 18, 2016. It seems like if that is what they are waiting on they would say that when we call instead of just saying “it is processing”. This processing time is the worst ive experienced since i started filing my taxes.February 10, 2016 at 2:00 pm #4137122
So far everyone that I saw that got their refund from GA, faxed their w2. Maybe they are waiting on employers to submit w2s…. Just a guessFebruary 10, 2016 at 8:25 am #4136704
No change here either.February 10, 2016 at 6:25 am #4136553
No change – no DDD, still saying 6-8 weeks processing. This is the longest it’s ever taken. I don’t know what’s going on. Maybe you guys will have better luck than I.
Already received Federal
No state refund as of todayFebruary 9, 2016 at 5:24 pm #4135811
No, and I asked! I usually get my state first too. Last year, it was 10 days. She had no explanation for any delays or the screwy system glitches. Tomorrow is 21 days and the estimated day h&r block said, so fingers crossed!February 9, 2016 at 5:02 pm #4135766
@Mary did they say what is taking so long this year? I usually get my state first.February 9, 2016 at 11:01 am #4135035
I just called and spoke with someone and was told that a credit showing means nothing except they have received my return. She said that it does not indicate that they have processed it.February 9, 2016 at 10:51 am #4135006
Also the where’s my refund is still showing “Your return has been received. Please contact the Taxpayer Services Division Individual Section at 1-877-GADOR11 (1-877-423-6711) to speak to a Taxpayer Services Representative during our normal business hours M-F 8am -5pm” So don’t rely on that to update for information regarding your deposit. My tax center account balance did go to $0.00 though.February 9, 2016 at 10:40 am #4134979
Up until last Thursday I could see my credit listed on my account, then I was asked to send my W2 which I promptly faxed, I was told it would take about 12 weeks to process. Friday I called to verify they received the W2 and I noticed that my account showed a balance. I spoke to a rep and she told me they received the W2 and that it would take them at least 3-4 weeks to process, once I asked her about the balance showing on my account she told me to hold on and came back and told me she was going to go ahead and push my refund through because everything on my W2 matched. She told me that I should receive my funds in 30-45 days but I received them this morning.February 9, 2016 at 10:14 am #4134921
no update for meFebruary 9, 2016 at 9:39 am #4134853
Anyone have any change to their status this am?February 8, 2016 at 8:27 pm #4134247
So – following the posts I didn’t understand seeing the credit either, so I created a login :). However, I have a NEGATIVE $5.00 credit. I owed back taxes, so it appears they credited my refund this year to the debt as the numbers make sense for this…However, I thought they were going to offset my federal refund for the full amount. Before I even filed w/ state or federal, the IRS offset line listed the debt w/ the state, so I’m sure they submitted the full amount to IRS. Is it typical for them to take from state refund, then let IRS know the difference owed??February 8, 2016 at 7:54 pm #4134219
@Cathy Thank you. Some of those links were not showing up on the mobile site. I was able to register from my desktop.February 8, 2016 at 6:47 pm #4134133
Go here https://gtc.dor.ga.gov/_/ and click on “create my username” under “sign up” in lower right side of pageFebruary 8, 2016 at 6:34 pm #4134114
I have seen several posters mention being able to see a credit when they log into their GA Tax Center account. How do you create an account?
Also, early last week I had the “your return has been recieved, please call and speak with a rep” message. I spoke with someone who said that my return had been processed, the refund had been approved, and that they were in the process of generating the tefund. A couple of days later I started getting the “6 to 8 weeks” message. Any ideas when I may see a refund?February 8, 2016 at 5:41 pm #4134062
Another poster posted it in this same forum.February 8, 2016 at 4:41 pm #4133977
mSJ where did you get that info? My credit has been showing since last week & I still have not receivedFebruary 8, 2016 at 4:29 pm #4133959
From what I was told, once the credit appears you should get it within 2 to 3 business days. my credit appeared Wednesday, so I am hoping it is shows up in my account by morning. If it does I will let you all know.February 8, 2016 at 11:59 am #4133596
I too see a credit on my acct. Any idea what that means in terms of actual processing and receipt of refund?February 8, 2016 at 8:20 am #4133237
When I log in to my GA Tax Center account I can see my credit. I have the 6-8 week msg when I check my refund status. I filed early & my return was accepted on 1/14.February 8, 2016 at 7:48 am #4133209
Where do you see a credit? And those who had a deposit, did your 6-8 week message change first?February 6, 2016 at 11:55 am #4131756
Has anyone received their Ga refund? I’ve got the 6-8 week message. Anyone heard anything?February 5, 2016 at 6:52 pm #4130365
i can see the refund but when is the release date?February 4, 2016 at 8:22 pm #4129294
So this was my first time using Georgia’s WMR site. I filed on 1/23/16 both federal and state and they were both accepted on 1/23/16. I got the message everyone else got about calling the 800 number so I called and the rep told me it was just a generic message and didn’t ask me any questions. Now when I check it says allow 6-8 weeks for processing. My refund is under 1K.
I haven’t moved past 1 bar on federal WMR either…sucks!February 4, 2016 at 6:53 pm #4129198
I can see my credit when I log in to my account, but when are they refunding that credit is the million dollar question…February 4, 2016 at 6:39 pm #4129169
@Cathy Boyett – I’m expecting a small refund (under 1K), but still haven’t received since accepted on 1/20.February 4, 2016 at 5:57 pm #4129117
Nicole, was it a large refund? I’ve read where some have received GA refunds but they were small refunds.February 4, 2016 at 4:28 pm #4129026
@Nicole – dang I was also accepted on 1/20, but no deposit yet :(. Did the GA WMR status update to showing DDD for you? This is the first time I’ve used their WMR, so I don’t know what the norm is.February 4, 2016 at 10:31 am #4128436
Has anyone spoke to a rep and found out why such a delay this year. Nicole is the only person that I have seen with a Georgia refund.February 4, 2016 at 9:35 am #4128356
@bltyler1 sorry for the late response, yes my refund was received 02/03/2016 in my account. It was accepted on 01/20/2016February 3, 2016 at 9:53 pm #4127866
Nicole – so you received your actual deposit today? When was your return accepted?February 3, 2016 at 6:52 pm #4127633
It seems maybe everyone is getting this 6-8 week message! And I don’t know anyone who has actually received a Georgia state refund yet! Very frustrating!February 3, 2016 at 5:31 pm #4127566
Has anyone actually received a refund from GA yet? If so, when was your return accepted? I filed mine on 1/19 & it was accepted 1/20, today the status is :
