Rumor is that Chime is rejecting refunds for TPG the 3rd party that processes advances/fees from the refund.
Any truth to this?
Haven’t confirmed. -

This is getting ridiculous, I keep seeing people who have chime, filed with TurboTax and had fees taken out of their refund get DD. I got the same and still waiting. I can’t stand the SBTPG, I will never go thru them again.
-
February 21, 2024 at 7:46 pm #4537663
Funded on Chime abt an hour and a half ago!!! Thank goodness it was all just BS!!!! Hope everyone has gotten or is getting theirs soon!

Hey I’m back again I just received my state tax 02/21 @ 4 pm through chime and tpg successfully.
-
February 21, 2024 at 6:47 am #4537409Proudma30
Funded, and it says that it was paid to me but no deposit yet. I used chime.
-
February 20, 2024 at 10:16 pm #4537330
i wish i could post screenshots sbtpg told me that they send the direct deposits as a “regular ach” i also have sofi and im worried about this issue
-
February 20, 2024 at 7:46 pm #4537310Dre
It’s true with SoFi I just got off the phone With the agent she told me that SBTGP sent the wrong code and that they are rejecting she said it was a known issue. Just blows my mind how that not doing anything to fix it
-
February 20, 2024 at 6:25 pm #4537293SadDad5757
What about people with SoFi? I contacted them and they said they’re rejecting payments sent from SBTPG because they’re saying its business ACH and not personal ACH but they said they haven’t received any payment yet and on the TPG website it still says unfunded. Has anyone with SoFi got their refund yet how has filed with TT and paid fees with SBTPG????
-
February 20, 2024 at 3:21 pm #4537268LifeIsLife
I just wanted to comment that I’ve seen a a few posts on Reddit on r/IRS and people posting that they’ve gotten their DD today with chime and they filed with TT and their SBTPG says funded. They even posted proof. So based off of that I think it’s safe to say it was all just rumors and we can all expect our refunds.
-
February 20, 2024 at 5:34 am #4537106Slay
No it is not true that if the bank rejects the deposit it will go back to the IRS and be mailed. If it is rejected SBTPG will mail you a check to the address on file. Also Chime is not rejecting TPG products. The FB post where they told the person they could not accept their DD was because that person account information did not match the information on the refund. At the risk of being attacked, I work for TT, I bank with Chime.

The “rumor” and “spreading false information” comments in regard to this specific situation are so irksome to me lol. These “rumors” were coming from Chime directly across all of their official channels. And when it’s thousands of dollars and literal survival for a lot of people, it’s very much worth it to come together and figure out what is going on.
-
February 19, 2024 at 10:23 pm #4537086
Not sure why folks spread false information. These institutions are not in the business of rejecting/returning money. If your details match your IRS submission then you will get your funds at least by the date the IRS says you will. Granted there’s cases where things go wrong but for the most part they get it right. I have used Sbtpg for a long time with or without fees taken upfront and never had an issue. We myself included want instant gratification society :) Happy waiting!
-
February 19, 2024 at 10:05 pm #4537085Niy
Okay so I use Chime. I submitted my taxes 01/19 had to wait till 02/15 for the path act to lift. But I did receive my STATE tax 02/09 from sbtpg deposit with no problem. Now my FEDERAL tax DDD is 2/22. As of 2/19 I’m waiting to receive it. I do believe it’ll be here by the morning due to chime does not deposit weekends/holidays. If I receive before 2/22 I will update.
-
February 19, 2024 at 5:52 pm #4537066
I spoke to TPG and the rumor started about chime is just that a rumor. It is a lie. TPG has verified it to be all a lie. If your stuff is rejected it is because the tax return was in someone else’s name or wrong account. So if you used TPG and you have chime you should be funded by tomorrow and money in account by 2/21 if your DDD IS 2/22
-
February 19, 2024 at 5:48 pm #4537064WhyChimeWhyTurbotax
I’m being told that refunds rejected by CHIME from TPG will be returned to the IRS and the IRS will then mail a paper check. Anyone know if this is true?
-
February 19, 2024 at 5:24 pm #4537062
Hey, guys, oddly enough yesterday on the Chime FB chat I received that generic msg that sorry we aren’t accepting TPG deposits, but then today it looks like a human actually answered me and said they are sorry for that information but they are. This is so confusing.
-
February 19, 2024 at 6:13 am #4536995Reg
I just got off the phone with the supervisor Tin she advised me that she assures as long as your information is correct they will be accepting refunds so let’s hope for the best
-
February 18, 2024 at 9:29 pm #4536973
Also, maybe reps are using outdated information. I hope so and everyone is wrong. One of our mods, trust us or not, through chat, yesterday was told they wouldn’t accept. It’s all a mess and if I had this much money riding on the bs I would be pissed and worried.
-
February 18, 2024 at 9:22 pm #4536972
We are not trolls and posted information directly from their Facebook page… images. current. not outdated. We also acknowledge that people are getting told different information via chat and calling in. I would be worried too with all the different information. Just because you heard what you want, doesn’t make it true or us trolls or us wanting people in misery.
We want people to know what the hell is going on. And it seems nobody knows because people are being told different things. I hope it all goes well. But we started this based on the Chime official comments on FB. They don’t have their customer service reps, whether on chat or the phone or on FB all on the same page.
period. People have a right to be concerned.
-
February 18, 2024 at 9:17 pm #4536968Rianej
Why would chime offer a sweepstakes for having your taxes deposited into the account knowing 8 out of 10 people get their fees taken out through sptg. I have called customer service and I also spoke w/ someone via chat and there will be no issues with the deposits as long as your account information provided on your tax forms are correct. Stop stressing people and stop letting these trolls get to you. They just wanna see you panic.
-
February 18, 2024 at 9:17 pm #4536969
lol all these trolls love to get people all so anxious. I would chime offer a sweepstakes. If you have your deposit put into your Chime account knowing that eight out of 10 people get their fees taken out? I spoke with a customer service rep via chat and I also called and they assured me there’s nothing to worry about. Misery loves company. Remember that.
-
February 18, 2024 at 5:42 pm #4536940Kat
Go to their FB page and look in comments under the scam post/ Twitter page as well they’ve spoken on it. I was told they’re sending them back. They’re telling everyone different things. Alls you can do is wait until your DDD then see of it comes.
-
February 18, 2024 at 10:10 am #4536897Bbsuki
I just got a message from chime and they advised me they are indeed taking deposits from TPG
-
February 18, 2024 at 9:36 am #4536894SweetMeech
I’m following… I also spoke with a Chime agent who said they was going to send my refund back to SBTPG so I created a case with SBTPG providing my ID and different bank direct deposit slip asking them to change my account before they receive it from the IRS, My DDD is 02/22/24 so I’ll try to reach out to someone Tuesday.
-
February 18, 2024 at 7:33 am #4536884Proudma30
I finally heard back from a chime rep last night. I wish I could post the screenshot but it comes up with some kind of weird symbols. L, o, l, they inform me that they are accepting all deposits even from Santa Barbara tax group. As far as when you get your money. I have never gotten it any earlier than Wednesday the day before. Generally I usually get it on Thursday night. For some reason my taxes always come on Thursday.
-
February 18, 2024 at 7:28 am #4536879
Hi everyone I don’t know how much of this is true this is my first time dealing with sbtg I however have always used chime when filling I did receive my state which on my bank statement says deposit from sbtg so hopefully I do receive my federal deposit as well I’m just waiting until Tuesday to find out I have a ddd of 2/22
-
February 18, 2024 at 2:32 am #4536873Carl T
So after several researches thru social media I have found that this rumor is outdated and several chat reps from chime are clearly still using this outdated form. This was mentioned 2 years ago by various FB users. But IK for a fact I got my refund from SBTPG. I also spoke to chime rep and they confirm they are accepting deposits from tpg so I think it’s all bs. It’s like the church monger’s saying this is the end of the world speech.
-
February 17, 2024 at 9:04 pm #4536842
I combined 3 threads to this one so you would all be together. Somebody had a good idea of separating people that actually get funded, but many people just leave and don’t come back. If you do get funded, please let us know.
Did you have fees taken from your refund?
Did you have an advance?
Was your return over 10k?DO NOT LEAVE PII

February 17, 2024 at 8:50 pm #4536841Blue moon
I don’t use Chime nor will I ever use turbo tax because of the fees and the bank that they use, but based off of what I’ve been reading could it be possible that they weren’t accepting deposits from them at that time? The chat message says at that time as if there were technical issues. I don’t know everyone’s interpretation of things are different when reading certain things. I think if it was permanent it would have said that they are no longer accepting deposits from tpg.
-
February 17, 2024 at 8:13 pm #4536833
@Brycenkenz This is the second time we have heard the “ended their contract” speech. Very suspect.
-
February 17, 2024 at 8:12 pm #4536826
@kat there are so many different stories that I’m waiting to hear from tpg Tuesday. There is a blog on chimes Facebook page. Most people are saying this is a scam because nobody with tpg has not even been funded yet. People who got loans went through credit karma and people with state taxes came from the state. We are being lied to. Chime told me that tpg ended their contract with them. I don’t believe they would do that during tax season
-
February 17, 2024 at 7:54 pm #4536825Kat
I also called chime was told they’re not accepting deposits from SBTPG, chat via chime blames TPG servers. Turbo tax says they’re accepting them and advertising 6 days early if you use them.
-
February 17, 2024 at 7:43 pm #4536822DBTX
Chime said that they have no problem receiving deposits from SBTPG, I literally just talked to chime. They say if there is an issue, it’s on the SBTPG, not chime.
-
February 17, 2024 at 7:15 pm #4536818Chiming in
Everyone is getting every different possible answer so let’s have a single thread where we can update with any actual MOVEMENT. No theories, speculations, or “I was told…” in this thread please—there’s plenty of that elsewhere.
I’d like to see if anyone shows Funded on TPG and receives a DD to Chime. Based on the theories it may also be helpful to know if you filed jointly, if your refund was greater than $10k, and/or if your Chime account is new. Please update here as things unfold!
-
February 17, 2024 at 5:30 pm #4536810Chiming in
On TPG’s website they say if your bank returns the funds to them they will mail a cashiers check and that could take 10-12 business days.
-
February 17, 2024 at 5:27 pm #4536809proudma30
Okay since this seems to be true how are we supposed to get our money getting a hold of the IRS is staying near impossible it’s hard enough to get it to go through proper the first time for payment let alone fixing it do we have to file a whole new return
-
February 17, 2024 at 5:26 pm #4536808Chiming in
I just chatted with them from their official fb and they said that they are not accepting refunds from TPG, and as was stated in another post in the forum they (Chime) made a comment on their most recent fb post that says the same. I am so livid. The only thing Chime has said for us to do is “reach out to SBTPG for alternatives” but the only thing they’ll do is send out cashiers checks.
-
February 17, 2024 at 5:17 pm #4536805
Ahh I missed that post. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this a private issue with that person and not with TPG as a whole!

February 17, 2024 at 5:02 pm #4536801
Here is where I stand on the TPG SBBT SBTG Chime rumor:
They have come out on their FB page saying one thing, and in private chats saying another. Some people have received their deposits, some are saying rejected.
So let’s stop saying it’s A LIE.
We share the information we have and don’t call each other out like assholes.
This is a public-facing post from their FB page
-
February 17, 2024 at 4:59 pm #4536800
I am not calling anyone a liar, as we may be getting told different things, but I have googled this and not seen any issues from 2024, I have looked at Chimes FB page, and not one comment from them regarding this, and lastly I spoke to customer service rep and they said that as long as name, social and DOB match, it will not be an issue. Also, more then 3 direct deposits for refunds in one acct will be denied. Hopefully, this is true!
-
February 17, 2024 at 4:45 pm #4536797Michelle
I spoke with customer service today. Time did verify they will not be excepting any direct deposits from TPG.

February 17, 2024 at 4:35 pm #4536783Angel
Chime has stated on their Facebook page:
We recognize how important this is. We are unable to accept your deposit from TPG PRODUCTS at this time. If you have any questions, we encourage you to contact the sender who initiated this transaction and ask for it to be sent to another external account.
That statement is in the comment section of their post about scammers, from 1 day ago. I’d share a screenshot but don’t see an option to do so.
-
February 17, 2024 at 4:19 pm #4536788J.Mongoose
Just got off the phone with Chime member services and they assured me that as long as I entered my DD info correctly when I filed that I WOULD receive my DD no problem. I explained the process from the IRS to SBTPG to Chime and she assured me that there has been no block. I hope we aren’t all getting different answers but that ‘s what I was just told.
-
February 17, 2024 at 3:52 pm #4536784
@jersey girl many of us have talked to chime and everyone says something different on the chat part but if you call them they all say they are not accepting tpg this year and it will be rejected. This is exhausting and discouraging 😩
-
February 17, 2024 at 3:49 pm #4536782Jersey Girl
to inform you that chime accept deposits from SBTPG but their server is not working well right now.
So because of that you are getting issue.
What do you mean their server isn’t working
Yes, the server SBTPG is using is not working well
Ok so my refund maybe delayed
Yes it is possible.
But not denied or rejected by chime
This is from a chat today with a chime rep
-
February 17, 2024 at 3:31 pm #4536779proudma30
I just wish chime would have sent a notification out to those of us who had the same deposit as last year with them it’s not fair to us that we have to be penalized because we weren’t given the chance to put it on a different payment method this year
-
February 17, 2024 at 3:16 pm #4536775Niki12
I’m worried about this as well. We have a ddd of 2/22 and use chime. I’m hoping this doesn’t happen.
-
February 17, 2024 at 3:01 pm #4536771
@proudma30 this is because the people who don’t have fees taken out of their taxes, their checks come
Directly from the IRS. There is no issue with the IRS chime isn’t messing with TPG. My guess we will all have to wait for a cashiers check to be issued from tpg. -
February 17, 2024 at 2:58 pm #4536769DBTX
Does the SBTPG hold it until the DDD or do you getting faster with chime?
-
February 17, 2024 at 2:56 pm #4536768Proudma30
OK, so I’m confused I went through turbotax. I’m a pather and had fees taken out of my refund. I have ADD of February 22nd.
Updated on WMR and my transcripts I use chime. I just saw above that somebody received their chime deposit. But others are saying that they’ve gotten notifications. That chime will refuse all Santa Barbara.
Deposits, what do we do if they rejected? Do we have the file all over again -
February 17, 2024 at 1:47 pm #4536755Missanita86
Chime is rejecting all TPG deposits greater than $10k. Will accept if it’s below that amount. I called Chime today.
-
February 17, 2024 at 1:38 pm #4536754
Chime is rejecting ALL payments from TPG. I’m so pissed 😡 I contacted chime numerous times to confirm this. I contacted turbo tax and they know nothing. Very upset!
-
February 17, 2024 at 12:25 pm #4536749Missy Poo
@ Tiffany please post the notification you received. I haven’t heard or seen such information from Chime. That would literally affect thousands of their customers and I’ve never had an issue before.
-
February 17, 2024 at 12:00 pm #4536745
Tiffany,
So how will people that filed w tt and had fees taken out get their taxes? We used TT and had fees taken out, and bank with chime, so I’m concerned. -
February 17, 2024 at 11:02 am #4536736Tiffany
Yea so got a notification on my phone from chime they are not accepting direct deposit payments from Santa Barbra tax products group and they will be sent back
-
February 17, 2024 at 10:34 am #4536732Velvetzea
Please don’t get excited. The deposit first goes to SBTPG. They take their fees but will not send an ACH until the listed IRS date listed. If your transcripts have a dd of 2/22 and you had fees taken out- expect it exactly on that date.
-
February 17, 2024 at 10:08 am #4536723Jenny
Had anyone received their refund with chime that had sbtpg take fees out ?
-
February 16, 2024 at 9:59 pm #4536641Travishon
@Geisha THEN WHY YOU IN HERE! Time to $Pend! Congrats and go enjoy money 💴 🤑 Have a Great Year
-
February 16, 2024 at 5:55 pm #4536596
Got approved for my state today and says refund will be deposited within 24-48hrs I have chime too it’s almost 530pm still not Monies -Maryland had issues
-
February 16, 2024 at 2:00 pm #4536548
Geisha,
Question. I had filing fees taken out of my refund, is there a possibility I’d still get it early? I know that SBTPG is the company TT goes through, and I’m not sure if they hold it til ddd, but im still hoping for an early deposit.
-
February 16, 2024 at 1:57 pm #4536545Geishadoll47
@mstiffany424
Thank you and I hope you receive the same out come. That’s what I love about CHIME. They do not hold your money like regular banking institutions. -
February 16, 2024 at 1:52 pm #4536541
Geishadoll47,
That’s awesome! I am so happy for you & for anyone else that gets their refunds early. I filed w TT & was accepted 1/29 same day and had an est ddd of 2/19. Wmr hasn’t updated & I can’t get into my transcripts. I bank with chime, so I’m hoping to get my taxes today or tomorrow! 🤞🤞🤞
-
February 16, 2024 at 12:57 pm #4536510Geishadoll47
Hi Everyone. My DDD is 2/22 and Yes I am A PATHER. CHIME just received my refund. So don’t be discouraged. You be surprised like I was.
Good Luck Everyone!
