      If you have already submitted your taxes, and they increase the child tax credit from $2000 to $3600, will you get the extra money on your return or will you have to file an amendment?

          I have experienced this. In 2020, they changed the ACTC. I had already filed. I received a letter stating I would get the rest owed to me the following year. Another time, the IRS adjusted the CTC for me, and I got the correct amount due. The IRS will post an announcement under “news” stating how we reconcile the difference.
