This is discrimination which is prohibited by law. The IRS has other means to collect money lost since the IP address and ISP information is stored with the tax software companies. The whole fraud claim is bs. We as a society should go after them for our information being breached when they got hacked. They are still using no more than 256 bit encryption. That is nothing colleges with CEH classes teach students how to breach that. Also all a hacker would need is their employee information and remote login to that employee’s terminal to get into the system since each individual office does not have it’s own network or DB admin.

I had bars yesterday.. Checked today and got this message.
Print. Take the survey.
According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue refunds before February 15 for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits.
Check Where’s My Refund after February 15 for your personalized refund status. It’s updated once a day and remains the best way to check the status of your refund.
Please read the following information related to your tax situation:

@Bill….I filed with TT. I’m going to check to see if I have the ACTC but I shouldn’t have it. Who knows at this point! It’s a big let down this morning.

Who did you file with? Sometimes you may not think you got the ACTC but you really did, If it was TT you can pull up the PDF copy of your return and see if you did get that credit

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service plans a Feb. 14 start date for processing tax returns delayed by last month’s tax law changes. The IRS reminded taxpayers affected by the delay they can begin preparing their tax returns immediately because many software providers are ready now to accept these returns.
Beginning Feb. 14, the IRS will start processing both paper and e-filed returns claiming itemized deductions on Schedule A, the higher education tuition and fees deduction on Form 8917 and the educator expenses deduction. Based on filings last year, about nine million tax returns claimed any of these deductions on returns received by the IRS before Feb. 14.

@digg9779 Well that does suck, Digg. I’m sorry. It seems some unsuspecting people got sucked into the PATH Act vortex.
I have heard some speculation that those in your situation were possibly determined to be “eligible” for one of the PATH Act credits upon review by the automated system, whether they thought so or not.
I actually did not think I was going to have either credit and then saw the ACTC on my return after I filed. You can imagine how overjoyed I was at this prospect (not).
I would seriously suggest you call the IRS and ask them what the heck.
