I was told by an IRS rep the other day they are taking the extra time to verify 1098-T forms due to massive amounts of fraud in the past and if your school (like Arizona State) doesn’t give a damn about following the law and sending them in on 2/28 (ASU says they send theirs in mid-march), expect delays.
However I tried calling back because the rep said call if I didn’t see any updates today, and now they said it isn’t the case but I’m on a 45 day review. So who the heck knows what’s going on.
Onto calling tax payer advocate services and waiting three hours to hope someone answers me.
