Just wondering if anyone has received an ID verify letter yet and if so what date you filed?

I filed 2/1 accepted the same day. I had one bar until this morning when I lost all bars and just have the processing message. No EIC or ACTC. Same thing happened last year and I had to wait for a letter to verify my identity, so I assume I’m going to have to ID verify again. Ugh.
I was able to order my return transcript online by mail a few days ago. Hopefully that can tell me something unless they come blank. So frustrating.

People like you, that “accidentally” try and fraud the government, are why people that filed an innocent tax return, have to wait longer to verify identities. How would you and your husband file a return but not know? I think we all know that is bs. Good luck to everyone else who has to verify and wait. Still waiting on my letter.

Yea it really doesn’t make sense to do it more then once if everything was verified correctly. I guess i should be prepared next year just in case. The return that was accepted was done on 1/30 through TT. So we can’t call to even make sure thats the issue until the 20th. Hopefully the letter would be in the mail already if thats the case. Im so used to getting my taxes like a week after filing lol so frustrating.

They won’t do anything for you over the phone until the 21 days are up, and last year when I called they only told me to wait for the letter because you need a specific code on your letter to verify. I am just hoping the letter comes faster this year. I might try to call and see if they will just tell me that’s what I’m waiting for but I doubt they will. This whole thing is frustrating. I too was hoping this was not going to be an every year thing. It really shouldn’t after you verify the first time and there are no new changes. Ugh. When did you file?

Well i had a name change also this is my first time filing married and under my new last name so now I’m really thinking that combined with us accidentally doing it twice because each of us thought the other wasnt going to do it they were bound to flag us. It’s just the wait and not knowing what exactly is going on that is so stressful. Your situation sounds somewhat reassuring though hopefully ours goes smoothly but I’m hoping its not an every year occurrence. Do you absolutely have to wait for the letter to complete the process do you know? Or can you call them on the 21st day to get it resolved

That’s exactly what mine says. Last tax year I had a name change so they had me verify my ID. I filed the same as last year. Last year they said they also verified that name was changed with SSA. So SS# and name matched they just had to be sure so they sent a letter, I had to call and verify over the phone. Then everything moved along. I do not understand why I would have to verify again but that is all I can think of. Everything else is the same. You probably got flagged for the 2 returns. Once you get the letter it moved along pretty quickly. They tell you 9 weeks but it was really only a week for me last year. It just seems to take forever to get the letter. The letter didn’t arrive for 6 weeks after I filed last year.

Does yours say the below? Ugh my husband and i accidentally filed twice (one filed without knowing the other already had) but the second one was rejected we thought everything would be fine but ours has no bars now with this message. Is there a reason you were flagged for ID verification?
Your tax return is still being processed.
