i called the irs after 22 days since filing, they said my refund was being held because it was randomly selected to go through taxpayer protection program and i should be getting something in the mail. has anybody gone/are going through this and if so could you share a bit please?

I had to verify my identity Thursday feb 23/2018 was able to order my return transcript yesterday but wmr is still saying still processing being saying that since I filed jan 17th I claimed EITC as well I’m mad bc they said 9 weeks but according to everyone if u can order your transcript you are done processing? I need answers too I never had to go through this…

Letter in the mail this morning from irs will update when it gets here on what it’s for, guess they weren’t lying about a letter, hope it’s only ID verify seen someone yesterday say they verified over the phone and their transcripts updated same day for code 846, FINGERS CROSSEDDDDD

I think that just means ID verify. They sent my letter out on the 14th and I got it on the 19th so hopefully it doesn’t actually take your letter 6 weeks. They also said it would take up to 9 weeks to process my return after I did it, but it only took a few days. Hth

Exactly but couldn’t tell me what for, I think they’re just extra slow this years so they are making up problems

I was told the same thing today on the phone, wondering if that’s just another thing they’re saying or what it means and how long is it gonna take, you would think the IRS would have notified us about this mine has been on the same wmr screen for 22 out of my 24 well 25 days I’ve been waiting now
