I called the IRS today and the girl told me that the person who started my return put in the system that they needed an extra week to process and for me to call back if I don’t see my deposit on the 27th. I asked every question I could think and the answer I got was almost the same for everything. I was told pretty much that some people got theirs today and most wont get them until next week. I asked the agent if she knew for a fact about my specific situation or if she was telling me the same thing she was telling others and she said that she has relayed this same message to a lot of other callers. I asked if there is a chance we see the deposits before next week and she said yes but she can’t provide any other info! She then proceeded to tell me the shutdown caused them to be really behind and that they are scrambling to stay within 28 days now instead of 21! I was so furious and asked how many other callers are pissed when she gives them this info and she stated a lot! I think they are just telling everyone the same thing to give themselves some extra time. I filed 1/29 and was accepted the same day and she told me they started my return 1/31! Still showing my refund was received and is being processed! I am waiting for the DDD with my Serv card and I am just about to explode that the irs is so pathetic!

Yeah good to hear I’m not the only one out there though that doesn’t know what the hell is going on, people work hard to make ends meet and this is the one time out of the year we deserve what’s ours. I don’t recall the federal or state working those 60 hours a week with me

IRS says will update on Saturday and no $ til 27th. You’re fine don’t sweat it. People with your cycle date and have a DDD are most likely not PATHers
                          —————————
                          IRS Press Release:

Taxpayers who claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit may experience a refund hold. According to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue these refunds before mid-February. The IRS expects the earliest EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or debit cards starting February 27, 2019, if these taxpayers chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return.

Where’s My Refund? ‎on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go mobile app will be updated February 23 for the vast majority of early filers who claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. These taxpayers will not see a refund date on Where’s My Refund? or through their software packages until then. The IRS, tax preparers and tax software will not have additional information on refund dates, so Where’s My Refund? remains the best way to check the status of a refund. Where’s My Refund? is only updated once daily, usually overnight, so checking it more often will not produce new or different results.

Why is my refund being held?

If you claim the EITC or ACTC on your tax return, the IRS cannot issue your refund before mid-February. The law requires the IRS to hold the entire refund — even the portion not associated with the EITC or ACTC. Like previous years, some tax refunds may be held if there are questions about the tax return or the IRS needs more information.
