Got acceptance today..(not from tax service website, I got the acceptance from the IRS stating the return was accepted).
Looks like test batches continue this year. So let’s see if the new law still delays those people in the test batches.
The return that I got an acceptance on was for my sister, and she has the EIC on hers…so the new law should cause hers to delay until February 15. Waiting to see if the early test batch acceptance has any bearing on the release of refund to her…I’ll report back if I see it’s going to come early.

@Alex From what I saw last year, this happens a lot to early filers whose returns take longer than 21 days to process from the day they were accepted.
Even though the IRS did not start officially processing until 1/23 and they will tell everyone to wait 21 days from that date to call, the fact is, the system “knows” you were accepted on a certain date and it starts counting the 21 days from that date. Once the system can no longer say “within 21 days” it will go into that default message. That is usually the gist of it.
Why you were delayed, I cannot say. Could be that you were a resequenced early filer, could be PATH Act, or could be some issue related specifically to your tax return. But most likely, you are in early-filer limbo land. It sucks, but it happens. I’m sorry it is happening to you. I’ve been there and it’s no fun. I’ll send positive thoughts for a good update for you soon.

I filed my taxes on 1-11-2017. On 1-13-2017 I got a text saying my taxes were accepted by the IRS. I checked the WMR and for a week or a bit more I had one bar. Now? There’s no bar and just says “my taxes are still being processed a refund date will be provided later” It still says this and it’s 2-6-2017. I haven’t gotten any letters or e-mails about anything though. So maybe there is a hold until the 15th.

I think it’s like when you’re shopping and they stare at you the whole way. You know you’re not stealing but you still can’t help that feeling that you’re doing something wrong…

January 31, 2017 at 4:33 pm #4155956Not So Patient
I filed on 1/5, accepted on 1/12. Had the same 1 orange bar then the PATH message about the 15th showed up a few days ago. I have all of my transcripts. Claiming both child credits. My transcript shows processing date 2/13/17, cycle 20170405. I looked at last years transcripts, last year it stated my processing date was 2/22/16, cycle 20160505. I received my refund last year on 2/10. 12 days before the processing date. My fiance filed and accepted 1/20. He doesn’t check transcripts or WMR, hes just patient and waits. He claimed the child credit also, last night his account was showing it pending for deposit on 2/1 into his credit union bank account. NO BULLSHIT! I’m with BBT, they never post anything early and I don’t have anything pending. So we looked at his transcripts from 2016, he also had a processing date of 2/22 and received on 2/10, this years showed process date 2/13 but now pending for deposit 2/1, again 12 days difference. Maybe there is something to the 12 days thing. I haven’t had anyone else’s to compare this to, but maybe its worth a look for some of y’all too. As for my SC state taxes, accepted but no movement. Even the state website says they do not have refund in process at this time. But given SC’s backwoods ways, I never get an update on their website until AFTER I’ve received my state refund.

@pookie:
But back then you weren’t able to fill an amazon cart with all kinds of junk, and a newegg cart, and…for my spouse..an ebay cart…
Then there’s the playstation goodies…
I got my eye on some PS4 accessories..like replacing my current headset.
Maybe even a new PS4 and letting my kids have my current PS4…Then again..might just sit home and spend nothing.
I always dream big…and spend small. -

Tara I know! Even though you do everything right, all the numbers match, everything is correct and you know you haven’t committed some sort of felony, once you send that return, it’s like you are a bundle of nerves from waiting.
I never sleep while I’m waiting on a bar to move or to see something at STPG. Then I can’t sleep when I get it for trying to figure out what to do with it rofl.
It’s a horrible cycle we put ourselves through every single year. I think I’d rather go back to the days where we mailed in our taxes and form and when the check showed up, it showed up. At least then you couldn’t speculate all of the things that could go wrong.

Accepted the 13th, one bar ever since. Last Friday I could order account but not return transcripts.
I know I’m a weekly so fingers crossed I can order return this Friday.
Anyone else in the same boat?

I’m responding for two separate tax returns. The first, which I posted about here…is my sister’s taxes. She’s filing HoH, 2 dep with EIC and ACTC. She has been accepted since the 13th…
Transcripts (both) available on 1/25. Lost 1 bar on WMR on 1/26 and replaced with PATH message. The 2nd is my wife and I and our kids. Filing our 4 kids, no EIC, no ACTC, but CTC..
Accepted on 1/24 same as filing day…WMR on 1/26 said DDD of 2/1.
Lucky us, our DD went into Credit Onion this evening, 1/30…at around 4:55pm.My sister is also using bank…not sure if it’s credit onion…I think it’s not. Just regular bank.
But ours definitely was in the bank early and available (not pending).
Actually I called the bank this morning (1/30 at around 9am) to ask if they could see anything pending in ACH…they said “No”. We had no pending deposit.
I checked a couple times throughout the day…still no deposit.
I just happened to check again right at 5:15..and the deposit had posted right before 5pm. -

Filed on 1/11. Accepted 1/12. Did not claim EIC or the other credit that would delay refund. WMR shows accepted. WMR shows tax topic for the delayed refunds for EIC claimants. Does anyone know if WMR is sharing that with everyone? I’m hoping for my DD this week or next week.

you know you’re in a test batch if you are accepted by the federal BEFORE opening day.
That doesn’t mean your tax software accepted your return…it means you got an acceptance from the IRS with a submission ID and submission timestamp…For instance..my sister’s was filed on 1/5. However, she was accepted on 1/13 by the fed (the start of the test batch period). Testing runs up until a day or 2 before opening day.

WHOOPS!
UPDATE: Below is my original comment. When I had tried logging in to WMR yesterday it had reverted to nothing showing up and the notice that there was no information that they could give me. Today, however, I just tried again and WMR is back with one bar and all of my information, like usual. So, @HereWeGo, you might want to go check yours and see if it is back up.

The same thing happened to me, except I was accepted yesterday (1/17). I got the e-mail, got the text message notification, checked turbo tax and it (still) shows accepted.. So, I went to WMR and it showed everything correctly with 1 Bar and TT152. Today, I went back on there to check on it after seeing everything posted here and NOTHING. Didn’t even recognize it, when I entered my SSN and Refund amount it went to the generic “What day did you file?”, etc. etc.! So, here I wait, to see if my 1 bar comes back. I think it may have something to do with people who have EIC and ACTC, it seems like the majority of people with this problem have one of those two. We will see though. I hope there is no delays and everything goes smooth, fingers crossed!!!

Verification Code. If this field is populated, enter this code when it is requested by your tax return preparation software. It is possible your software or preparer will not request the code. The code is not entered on paper-filed returns.

Yolanda:
There was no code on the W2’s that I used when filing that you speak of. The EIN of employer, and some have a control number. They have always been there..and aren’t new.
-
January 17, 2017 at 9:07 am #4151248Yolanda
I heard that people with W2’s have a 16 digit code that they must use when filing or the refund could be delayed. Does anyone know if that’s true?

January 16, 2017 at 10:07 pm #4151168
@EO
Early acceptance means just that. It’s been accepted early. We know from past years that early acceptance generally means refunds come early. Not on/before the opening day, but generally within 2 weeks of acceptance, people start seeing refunds. The only year that didn’t happen was in 2014 when they started up a new system and had a bunch of laws that changed…People in the test batches found their refunds being delayed all because the test batches weren’t processing correctly and they had to be reprocessed.
The IRS website states a lot things…So yes, if you’re getting accepted by the IRS already, that means they are processing a few returns to test the computers. That’s what the test batches are for. That does not mean they just take a few returns from tax preparers and they are going to just sit in the queue until 1/23. They have already processed and are processing returns to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Once accepted and processed, the only delay afterwards is the release of funds unless the returns is flagged for follow-up. So, there will be several just waiting on the authorization to release funds…which should be very soon. If the law requires even the early acceptances to be held, then I am pretty positive we’ll see the people saying refunds are in their accounts during the week of 2/15. If the law just says they have to do some extra computing, and the returns are ready for fund release on 1/23, then i bet we’ll see people receiving money the first week of February.
Either way, early acceptance means exactly what it says…the IRS has accepted and IS processing the return. Regardless of what the site says… I’ve been in test batches for about 5-6 years now because I always have someone in my family’s tax returns done by 1/15 every year… And every year it’s the same thing…they are sending returns through the system to insure it works as it should.

I received notification of IRS acceptance on 1/12. I checked WMR this afternoon and had 1 bar. Hoping that all us test-batchers don’t have any problems. And I’m also hoping for a refund push on 2/17.

Got early acceptance, checked my status and it showed one bar. Went back today, and it doesn’t show at all. I looked on the IRS website and it states that early acceptance doesn’t mean your return will be processed. None of them will be processed until 1/23/17 at the earliest. Also, for anyone with EIC, it will not start processing until 2/15/17. So maybe on the 23rd it will show on the tracker again?

Filed 1/6/17 & was accepted 1/13 as well and WMR went to one bar today. I don’t remember it being accepted this early before and updated. Filed EIC, so not expecting anything until mid-Feb, but an early refund would be awesome !!

Wow … looKS like a lot of people are sewing acceptance by irs yay ! I filed on the 12th last year and was accepted 5 mins later I filed yesterday this year and still waiting also last year when I filed early my returned got pushed back 2 weeks for being in the test batch so I didn’t get my refund until the second week of Feb it sucked cuz people I worked with who filed after me or same time I did got theirs back Jan 27th I was pissed. So I’m not looking forward to getting it early this year either because I get actc and eic so we shall see .

Got accepted 1/13/17 later that day checked wmr and it showed 1bar. Checked today and tracker was gone. Don’t know if that has something to do with EIC.
