The IRS stated information in letter 6419 and 6475 letters will help to reduce errors and delays on your tax return. Child Tax Credit recipients should look for Letter 6419 that started going out from the IRS in late December. Economic Impact Payment recipients should look for Letter 6475 that also started going out in late December.
Here is the statement from them about IRS Letter 6419 and 6475.
The letters tell you important information.
Check the mail for IRS Letter 6419 to help prepare your Tax Return if you received the Advance Child Tax Credit. The letter 6419 includes the total amount of advance child tax credit payments taxpayers received in 2021 and the number of qualifying children that was used to calculate the advance payments. The amount is needed to file tax your return.
Check the mail for IRS Letter 6475 to help prepare your Tax Return if you received or should have received the third round of Economic Impact Payments. The letter 6475 will help determine if you are entitled to the Economic Impact Payment and if you should claim the recovery rebate credit.
IRS Letter 6419 is for people who received the Advanced Child Tax Credit in 2021. It will tell you how much advanced monthly child tax credit you received and the number of children that was used to calculate the amount. These were the payments that were sent from July through December that were calculated based on the number and age of your children. People were also able to opt out of these payments. You will need to compare the amount of advance payments you received with the amount you can properly claim on your tax return.
IRS Letter 6475 is for people who received or should have received the third Economic Income Payment and if you received a “plus-up” payment. Most people already received these payments. But if you missed any of these stimulus payments, the letter will help you determine eligibility and if you need to claim it on your tax return.
