-Verified 3/1 4883c told to wait 4-6 weeks (6 weeks ends on 4/12)
-Called almost every single day…always told I was still processing
-No bars, status stayed at Your tax return is still being processed.A refund date will be provided when available
-4/11 status changed to we have received your return and it is being processed
-4/12 bars came back,DDD of 4/16still nothing for me
Anonymous@irstressing- I called the main #1-800-829-1040 and asked for insured spouse department. I was asked if I already filed and I said yest that I had questions on the status of return.
AnonymousWell, a lot more happened yesterday after I spoke with the offset office. We found out that our house is now being condemned, so thankfully the FB group was able to tell me about tax advocates. I called them, and was informed not only did we have an offset with the Department of Education, but now the IRS is saying that we owe $2800 is back taxes from 2008, which is ridiculous. I called the IRS and was able to straighten it out, but so thankful to the advocates, because otherwise I would never have known. Plus, they are working on an expedition of our refund for hardship, since we will have no place to live in 2 weeks. I definitely recommend them if you have an imminent problem and you need your refund to get to you faster. My plan had been to wait it out, unfortunately that is no longer an option…
Anonymouscalled 800-304-3107 (thanks aoldenburg83) pressed 1 for english, pressed 2 then option 5 in order to speak to someone live-took me all of 30 seconds so no wait this morning! this is the offset dept…unfortunately thay had not received anything from me yet :( so i guess i’m still stuck in the ‘processing’ limbo…good to have this info-a huge thanks to everyone who shared
Anonymous@aoldenburg , what number did you call to actually speak to someone at the offset office?
Nevermind, I see the above post now. Thanks.
AnonymousYes the Taxpayer Advocate Service is an organization which is build to help people in resolving their tax related problems. They can handle any type of issue related to tax. Moreover it provides free and confidential service to taxpayers who need any type of help resolving IRS problems that they have not been able to resolve by their own.
Anonymous@charbelle, the number I called is 800-304-3107, I remember calling a couple of times to get the right combination to speak to a person, but I did get through.
Anonymous@j33 Can you tell me what number you called? You must be happy to know it’s on its way! I sure would be. :)
AnonymousUPDATE :I called IRS again today to try to get more information, I was told that I needed to wait till beginning of May for my 1th week . I was accepted 1/24 , I had education credits so waited till 2/14. I was told that my return went to IS department on 2/25 and I had to wait 11 weeks from 2/25. He said if I did not have my refund by then to call back and ask for a TA . He did say my return is still being proceeded, since I do not need the injured spouse I asked him if there was anything I can do. He then just told me to hold and reviewed my account and he took the time to take off the freeze off my account, he told me to hold on the line till he finished unfreezing my funds. He then told me I was all set. I have called 4 other times since I filed to let the IRS know I did not need the form and they all told me I had to wait it out and there was nothing I could do. I did ask to speak to the inured spouse line and when representative came on line the first thing he asked if I filed injured spouse claim. So I’m guessing only the injured spouse department can remove form since this is the only time I asked to speak to someone in insured spouse department. Does anyone knowhow long it would take after they unfreeze funds to get DDD? I forgot to ask I was just so happy that he removed form.
Anonymouswhat number do i call to get the offset dept? i called the number listed under the contacts tab-it was automated & i was told yes we see two offsets (my student loans)….well yeah i know i have them that’s why i filed IS…..in any case is there a number for the offset or IS dept where i can speak to a live rep?? i would like to know if they have already disbursed funds thata-way…. :)
But I still have high hopes for you @8fullinches!
Sorry @8fullinches that last comment was meant for @maximo2 :-)
Anonymous@whatthebleep ,thx for the good news(opinion) ,hope so.
@8fullinches I bet you have a deposit before the 15th…we will see :-)!
Anonymous@whatthebleep, yes it sounds like good news but i wanted to ask her if thats the day the check will be mailed out and or deposited or is that 2week window just an estimate when the form will be finished for review.. still wondering,i guess ill have to call back in two weeks
AnonymousSo I have been a stalker for about a month {creepy} lol. Here is my situation…
Filed 01/26 w/ Turbo Tax. F/A 01/31. wmf switched from ddd to offset on 2/16. Didn’t know about IS until end of February. Sent 8379 to IRS on 3/01. Have been waiting since. Got a TA and talked to her on 04/01 (no April fools ). She told me the IRS has my IS but wouldn’t or couldn’t tell me when it was received. Faxed her my papers 2 times that week. Got a VM from a lady telling me she was taking over my case from the other TA and she can’t find my papers to fax them to he. Offset is from husband’s Dept ED from loans before we were married, Community Prop state AZ.OH, I ordered my transcripts yesterday when I found this group and saw that most of you had done that. Is there anything else I should do/have done?AnonymousJust talked to IRS again, was now given DDD of 4/15(no update ever on WMR), of course last week when I called IRS said paper check would be mailed out 4/09 so I have some hope its coming, but not holding my breath. Will update if I ever see any money!!!!
@aoldenburg glad you found the numbers you needed, and awesome ur getting back more than you thought, I think next week we will see a lot of inj spouse deposits..I hope!
Anonymous@pamela79, I only mentioned the state because the IRS uses state community property laws to decide how to divide the federal refunds, and since WA and LA are both community property states, but both with different laws, it is making it take even longer.
One burst of good news, I called the IRS today, and of course, was told that they will have no information until the 11th week. I then called the offset office, and it looks like the offset has already been received and dispersed to the Department of Education, so I know at least know what the amount of my refund will be, which is actually much more than I anticipated. Still no word on the timeline, but the 11th week starts on April 29th, so I am hoping to hear something soon.
@8fullinches that’s great news! Sorry you got a rude rep..the ones I had before my nice rep weren’t necessarily rude, but one did talk to me like I was beneath her, as if I ad no right to call and see what was happening with my money because I filed injured spouse :( oh well karma takes care of all that for us :)
Anonymouscalled today and very nice rep told me i had two full weeks before it finishes processing, she said that will be 8 full weeks from when IS was received, but she couldnt tell me a dd date just that it was received and will take 2 more weeks to process, i called earlier in the day and some old bag was rude and hung up on me and i was talking polite to her
Thanks @cmanhefresh, my husband and I decided to do all we could to avoid going through this again next year too, I remember a time when getting your tax return was so exciting, and definitely not this stressful.
AnonymousIt only matters where you live not where you work my husband has the same debt and they don’t take state taxes only federal the wont even see your state taxes so it won’t hold it up
AnonymousAll of the info that you guys have provided has been incredibly helpful. This is my second year filing IS, but since my husband is the IS, and for tax year 2011 he had no income, we received our 2011 refund quickly, because there wasn’t much refunded.
2012 is a whole different story. I filed our taxes on 2/11, it was accepted on 2/11. IS form was filed electronically with our taxes. The non-tax debt is defaulted student loans in my name. For 2012, my husband was the higher earner, which is good, but we also spent 6 months in Louisiana and 6 months in Washington, both of which have different community property laws, so I imagine this process is going to take a while. I have not heard anything from the IRS as of yet, but I also haven’t made any calls to them either. I will probably try calling them tomorrow, does anyone have a recommendation on which number to try?
Thanks for listening to my story, I am definitely not impatient, since I have so much experience dealing with IRS issues, but I admit the wait is frustrating.
AnonymousHere is what I’ve learned we changed our deduction to 15 so we give them exactly what we should I would rather have my money all year than battling this again!
Anonymouscongrats whatthebleep, gots mine and i plan on never going broke again. ty for all the info.
That’s great news @charbelle tank you for sharing, I’m hoping we all see something soon!!
Anonymousi forgot to add that she also said, yes i see some offset, but you will be getting a refund for your husbands portion of the return…(i have student loans)…that right there was the best part of the call
Anonymoushi everyone! i have been ‘stalking’ this forum for weeks and finally thought i should post my experience. i filed our taxes electronically-first year of filing injured spouse. Filed on 2/11 accepted on 2/13. i called in at about 5 weeks 800-829-0582 x362 and they basically told me to keep checking the website-which still says “still being processed- a refund date will be provided when available”. so i waited. today i called and upon hearing a human-i asked what ‘accepted’ meant-and was told that they run it thru a few quick checks, names, ss#’s additional filings-and if all is well it moves on-i then stated my file date & said i hadn’t heard a word via mail, email or otherwise and that i was terrified that i had done something wrong-being a novice at this-she laughed and said she would look up our filing-she came back with-oh i see you filed an injured spouse form and that takes 11 weeks-giving me the date of april 29th. she said that from what she could tell we hadn’t made any mistakes and that she had no idea what the offset dept was doing so that it was taking so long-but we should see a dd within a couple of weeks…that may sound like a long time but up until i heard that i was dealing with the time frame of never-forever….anyway she also stated that if i hadnt heard anything to be sure to call back so that they could escalate my filing and get a supervisor to figure why we had a delay-she asked how many times i had called before early in our convo-so this was also promising…i know i’m not giving a whole lot of help-but maybe just a little hope :)
AnonymousThe status doesn’t. Change much just the “a refund date will be provided when available ” disappeared about 3 days before deposit I got mine last Thursday and wmr still says processing, I’m guessing it because you original tax return is changed as the amounts are so it doesn’t update? Also some people get TA’s and that speeds it up a lot also your file date doesn’t have anything to do with how long you’ve been waiting even if you filed 1/1/13 the IRS didn’t open until 1/30 (they did run test batches) but when you have education credits it wasn’t accepted until 2/14 that means you are in the 7th week of waiting maybe the 8th tomorrow I am a 0605’er I got mine last week so maybe 2 more weeks but I also got a TA and 3 days later mine was processed
AnonymousAlso I did also read that there is a couple of peolpe that had no update on the WMR and refund was deposited in there acount.
AnonymousMy return accepted on 1/24, due to education credits waited till 2/14. I called IRS yesterday and they told me if I do not have any changes on WMR by Friday to call them since my 11 week was Friday. I was previously told by IRS rep. I had to wait till end of April for my 11th week . My cycle date is 805, I did see on Facebook Injured spouse page that there is still people waiting for refunds with 605 and 705 cycle dates but there is some 805 cycle dates that have received there DDD. Also seems as not many people are getting DDD this week.
AnonymousI’m so lost.
This is our first year filing injured spouse. The VA over paid my husband when he was using the GI Bill last year and he was told they would deduct what he owes from our taxes… which would have been the whole refund.
We filed electronically on 2/21and it was accepted pretty much right away, though I can’t remember the exact date. Our WMR states that it is still processing and a refund date will be provided when available… so just like everyone else… we wait.
I did order the transcript from the IRS and it states 4/15/13 as the Received Date. What does that mean? Also our cycle is 20130905… does that mean anything useful?
We’ll be going on 7 weeks this Thursday since filing… should we be seeing something soon?
Ok so just got off the phone with the nicest rep ever and she said i will see a dd next week :) she said some of my refund has been applied to offset but that I am still receiving most of my refund and I will get a deposit next week :-) yay
AnonymousMine was also accepted on 4 Feb. and still nothing. Every time I call I hear the same thing “It takes up to 14 weeks”. Sure would be nice to have it before then.
AnonymousIf you count from the day I filed it was 9 weeks count your 8 weeks from they day it was accepted I also knew I was about to get mine because I called the offset line and it told me the amour applied
AnonymousYou may want to look at that mine was accepted February 4th yours was march 5th I got mine last Thursday I guess it was 8 weeks but you might have another 3 weeks to wait I only counted 4 weeks since you have filed 5 weeks as of Today
You can say that again @brokeandfrustrated! I’m on the px right now with irs to see if I can get an update ill let you know if I can squeeze anything out of them :-)
AnonymousPamela….it gives me a little hope that it only took 7 weeks for you to get your refund, maybe we will get ours that quickly as well. Our 7 weeks is up this Saturday. It would be really nice to see a refund next week!
Ok thanks so much :-) !
AnonymousI noticed the change on a Monday afternoon and got DD Thursday
Hey @pamela79 I was wondering exactly how many days before your DD did you see the “a refund date will be provided when available” disappear? This is my 7th week and mine WMR still hasn’t changed :(
AnonymousSounds about right mine took 7 weeks files 1/30 accepted 2/4 got my refund last week
AnonymousI have been reading everyone’s post and I too am still waiting. I filed an injured spouse form along with my return electronically. It was accepted on 2/28 and the injured spouse form was accepted on 3/5. I cannot get any answers from IRS as to what is going on. I had 2 representative tell me that it usually does not take 11 weeks and on an average 7-8 weeks, but they have to say it’s going to take 11 weeks This is my first year filing this form and I was hoping I would get my refund before the 11 weeks. So
frustratingThat’s ridiculous @waiting13..im sorry I really hope it doesn’t take that long because that is just rediculous. Honestly. Rediculous.
AnonymousI called the IRS back and spoke with another agent, who told me that everything was completed but that the coding on the form would not process thru the computer. She said that it is a computer issue and was escalated to their code unit to determine what codes will let it pass thru the system, she also stated that it could be an additional 8-12 weeks….here’s to hoping the rest of you do not run into this coding issue. :(
AnonymousThe cycle date is the day the IRS received your claim
AnonymousHello everyone. I will wait with you because it seems like I am in for a longer wait and I can’t get any answers from the IRS. Below is my story:
E-filed our return and injured spouse form on Feb. 23, accepted within a day or two.
Had one orange bar on WMR until early March, then message change to the “your return is being processed a refund date will be provided when available.” Still have that same message.
Called offset line about a week and a half ago, was told our refund would be offset, but no amount was given.
Ordered return transcripts on March 26 and received April 2. Cycle date on transcripts of 20130905, I was told by BartD the cycle date doesn’t really mean anything.
We have not received any letters at all from the IRS about errors or anything else. April 6th was six weeks since we filed. I know that injured spouse refunds can take up to 11 weeks, but was really hoping that it would be a lot sooner. I think it is ridiculous that it take so long. Have considered getting a TA because husband and I are both unemployed with no health insurance and we both need to see a dr. for health issues and can’t until we get our refund. But then I heard that a TA can’t help you unless you are in danger of eviction or utilities being shut off. Ugh! Have any of your gotten your refund yet and how long did you wait?
@Waiting13 I would honestly call back only because they hired a bunch of new people to help with the large number of calls, and it sounds like you got a newbie :( explain your situation and tell her that you got disconnected before he could elaborate, they get their panties in a wad if you say you don’t think the other agent knew what he was talking about :-)
Anonymous@whatthebleep no the agent only stated that the computer didn’t like what it was seeing, which didn’t seem to be a very professional answer from my side of the conversation. He also asked for my number in case they had any additional questions for me, however I can not fathom with as hard as it its to get answers that they would have the time to call me back. I am considering calling back to see if I can get someone else that can elaborate a little more.
@waiting13 from what I’ve been seeing over on the home page..this is happening to people for reasons like education credit, or identity verification, amongst other things. However, this is the first time I’ve seen it in an injured spouses case, did the agent say exactly what was wrong? For all we know it could just be a different way of saying you have to wait 11-14 weeks which is the irs estimated time frame to process injured spouse refunds.
AnonymousHere is my situation I filed my injured spouse after my electronic return, i was told to wait 6-8 weeks. I called on April 4th and was told it was in a transaction phase so no date could be given, but I could expect my return in within two weeks . I called back today on the 8th of April to see if I could possibly get a date for deposit. Upon doing so the person on the line informed me that the computer saw something it didnt like and when this happens they have to reprocess …he told me it could be an additional 6-8weeks ?!?!? This is for a school loan of my spouses that was offset which I am not responsible for, does that seem right that it would be another 6-8 weeks? …./depressingly yours waiting13
AnonymousIn regards to interest, last October we filed IS for both 2010 & 2011. We did not get any interest for 2011, but we got about $300 interest on the 2010 check. What stinks is then at the end of the year the IRS sent us a 1099 for the interest & it actually had to be listed on this years IS form as income. Because the check was in both of our names, I had to claim $146 income (1/2 the amount) on the IS form. My husband is the IS & is only source of income so I hope that measly little $146 didn’t mess thing up.
Congratulations @cmanfresh! Let us know what happens!
Anonymouswmr status change from processing date will be provided when available. to tax return is being processed. also fms has offset amount. so ill be getting my refund soon hopefully.

AnonymousI know what you mean I just got mine last week and was seeing people that filed at the end of feb getting theirs back if only they did them in the order received
AnonymousYes, it still says a refund date will be provided when available. Right now the system is down, so i cannot check the latest status. My sister in law was also told that the internet site and mobile app for WMR is not as up to real time as the phone hotline. I not sure, they both tell me that my tax return is still being processed and adate will be provided when available. Frustrating.
AnonymousDoes it also say a refund date will be provided when available, we have been noticing that, that part of the status disappears 3-4 days before direct deposit
AnonymousI am on day 67 of waiting for my deposit. I called IRS on my 42nd day, which was a Monday. I was told that I would receive my refund on that Friday which would be day 45. I did not and still have not received it. I called this past week, which was my 62nd day and the lady told me that I needed to wait until day 77 (11 weeks) to call again. She said that they do not give our info until atleast week 11. I am so tired of the run around. It would be nice if everyone gave the same info. But each time you call, it could be 5 times in a row; each rep gives you different info. My status still shows that is is being processed. I filed 1/30-excepted 2/1 and according to a couple reps, it was sent to injured spouse claim department on 2/7. I hope they figure it out. And where do I find info regarding interest? I have never heard of that. Thanks
Hey everyone I still have no news, I’m assuming nobody else has any updates? Hopefully Monday will bring some good news! :-)
Ok thanks @pamela79 saw someone talking about interest so I got curious..
AnonymousI have seen some people say that they got interest with theirs before though I’m not sure if it was because they were paid after the 14th week or if it was after April 15 th for previous years
Hey guys i got a question do injured spouse filers get paid interest if they don’t get us our refund by 4/15 ? Probably not huh?
@maximo2 you are not alone this is our first year too and hopefully our last if we can help it
AnonymousYeah, I hadn’t heard about it either, don’t know if its the truth they tell us, or just a stall tactic. This is first year as IS so at least I know what to expect next year.
@maximo2 didn’t know about the 4 week hold issue that explains a little more about why injured spouse takes so long thanks for the update
AnonymousJust an update. Filed 1/31 accepted, offset 2/7, mailed in injured spouse form 2/7. Just talked to helpful guy at IRS, Said everything was done processing and money was received back from Dept. of Education 3/9 but that automatic 4 week hold of funds after they get them back for all offsets. Money is scheduled to be released to me 4/9 but it won’t be DD it will be paper check, (he said all IS claims are mailed checks, but I’ve seen people on here say they got theirs DD, so I’m hoping for DD but I’ll be happy with a check by 4/15. Will update if I ever see money. Good luck to all of us, maybe our blood pressure will go down soon.
@pamela79 ok :-)
Anonymous@whatthebleep thanks I think we will just wait it out and wait for the refund from dept of education I can remodel then instead of waiting while they keep taking money out of my husbands pay check
@pamela79 that’s a toughy part of me says that’s your money go for it, but the other part would be afraid of overpaying like you said. In the end I would probably not do it just because I’ve never been a risk taker of any sorts, but maybe you could ask around and see if there’s anyone who has pursued this type of dispute and won the case, if there are then I’d go for it. I’ll talk to my family friend and see if he has any input :-)
AnonymousWe got 2 deposits too I wonder why?
That’s super helpful thanks and so happy for you @moneybound13!
AnonymousUPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS POST:
April 2nd I stated my status change but still no date determined. Well at 1AM my phone sent me an alert of not 1 but 2 deposits! Child Support didn’t even take my hubby’s return so we got the full amount this AM! I couldn’t go back to sleep and didn’t go back to sleep until 3AM all I could do was lay there haha. FYI my return was accepted on 2/2/13, my transcripts had a cycle date of 20130605 and the processing date was April 15th while the received date on the transcript showed 2/25/13.
Hope this is helpful and hopeful for those of you still waiting it out!! -
