Ok im asking for a fiance. He had to paper file his taxes due to IP Pin mess up this year. And its taking longer than usual. He had 2 dependents our newborn daughter and my 3 year old son. He filed him last year as well. My question is when he called and spoke to irs lady he asked if there was anything wrong with his return she said he would be getting a check or letter for a partial payment for his taxes of 285 which whne the letter came today it was a letter from child support and they took the 285. She also said that he would get a letter on the 30th regarding child tax credit changing or to let him know if they need any additional info. But child support did garnish from his Federal which he aaid has never happened before. And also his state. But he knew that was going to happen for state. I told him that its weird that if there was a problem with the return that they wouldnt even garnish anything yet until a set amount is for sure with the return. He is confused and so am i.
