I worked door dash and filed a independent contractor form. I made about $1000. I have another job but I did not report that to the IRS since if its not over 10k i heard you dont have to anyway, I paid for college and other things with my money. I live with my parents but support myself for the most part, bills etc. I am 25 years old. Im pretty sure my pareants didnt put me down as a dependent because im supporting myself. am i still elgible

@Melissa, you may be trying to give false hope.

          Who is not eligible?

You can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return. For example, this would include a child, student or older dependent who can be claimed on a parent’s return.

If you filed a tax return for 2018 or 2019, and made less than $75k, then you’ll get it.

You may not be reporting your income but your employer is.

That number of less than 10k is not correct. You must report any income over $600. And thick’s is right, it’s not about if they do claim you but if they could. I doubt you will get stimulus money. Just being honest here

I don’t know the answers to your questions, but that number of < $10,000 sounds suspect. I’ve never heard of that. Do you not have anything withheld from the job? Is that even allowed?

As for the EIP, it’s not whether your parents DO claim you as a dependent, but COULD they. If I’m not mistaken, if they *could* claim you as a dependent, then you probably won’t get it. I don’t know why the government decided that students don’t get the EIP; they’re affected just like everyone else.
