We got married last year. My wife received both of her first two stimulus payments into her account where her SSDI goes. She hasn’t filed in years. This year she’s on my return, MFJ, and the GMP says her EIP is scheduled for DD into my account on 3/17. I thought the IRS would send $2,800 to couples as one lump, but what I’ve been reading in other threads suggests that the IRS is dividing couples’ payments into separate payments, one for each SSN. My wife is not on my bank account; will my bank reject that payment? If so, will the IRS send her a $1,400 check in the mail?

Update: As of 12:10 a.m. EDT, my EIP is in my account — ONE deposit, $2,800.

Thank you for the responses. It’s PNC Bank. I’ll update (in a few hours — or in the morning; I might not stay up long enough!).

Honestly it depends on the bank. But with Navy federal, they rejected the first and second eip. But thats because of a closed account. And would not re route because she was not on an account. Ach transfers can be made into your account by anyone who has your info in anyone’s name.

She does not need to be on your account. I have my paychecks, stimulus and tax returns deposited into my girlfriend’s
