Why isn't PATH lifted?

As i said Earlier that I called and spoke to an IRS representative and I was told that it will clear by tomorrow not the direct deposit but the path message should to delete by tomorrow she didn’t exactly say that I had any type of identity verification and she didn’t say that nothing was wrong with my return is just the law and I literally talk to her today around 4 o’clock and I stayed on hold forever and when she got on the line she looked at my account my social and everything else so I believe her

I think people need to stop relying on tax refunds as a source of income . It’s a horrible habit. Think of it as a bonus. Maybe put away half and start building that savings account so you don’t have to worry about using it as bill money or car repair money.

Last year was the same thing they said earliest dd would be the 24th and I got mine the 17th, if you base it off that I say latest the deposits will hit will be the 20th a week before the 27th like last year

last year I got My money in my account 2am on the 16th (I just re checked my statement from last year) I’m hoping this year is the same situation

tomorrow will be actual direct deposit dates folks. Funds will start hitting accounts about tuesday and so on depending on your financial institution. I’m not expecting mine to hit my account no earlier than the 21st

Look Larry if you’re struggling on your electric bill I get it my dude, I’ve been there for sure. Sorry to be so harsh I know how frustrating it is. And literally not being smart here – if you called them and said hey I’m waiting I. My tax return on such and such date, I bet they’d give you a break, I know mine would. Additionally, depending on your state, they can’t shut you off in the winter months if your house needs electric for heat. You should see if this applies to you.

The IRS updates their systems on Tuesday’s and Friday’s, but the update does not reflect until the next day so Wednesday and Saturdays. Hopefully PATH msg will be gone tomorrow. Anyways I hope this helps with your question :)

Sean Ives said this a couple other places but PATH ain’t all bad. The hold sucks for sure but there’s good reason for it. PATH keeps the cutoffs low permanently so we can continue to receive more of our refunds as well as makes a lot more people eligible for receiving tax credits. More people = more chance of fraud = lots more work to get these refundable out.

That being said – it really f’n sucks waiting for this return!

I filed without adding my kids…got my refund on 14th and and immediately filed an addendum when I got first $ and literally got 2nd via check before 03/01. PATH IS STUPID as it helps none IMHO. hire better people!!!

The Path is lifted today.. But we still need to relize it is still morning… Im hearing that we will not see results til after midnight. I was told that WMR updates between midnight and 6am. The Path lifted may not show up til after 11:59pm.

Everyone hoping for today was really just that… being hopeful. Most people are thinking the update will be tomorrow, since normally they do mass updates on Wednesday’s or Saturday’s. It’s most likely we will update from path tomorrow and start receiving deposits next week after the holiday

I’ve seen a lot of different theories out there about the exact moment that PATH expires… but none of them seem likely to have shown an update today. When we see an update on our WMR, it is the result of work that was completed by the day before. And since yesterday was only the 14th, it is unlikely that they were doing anything with PATH refunds.

Today… however… is a very different story…. I imagine that they are frantically processing right now and we might start seeing some WMR updates tomorrow… whether it’s DDD’s or just the removal of the PATH message. Of course this is just my personal guess, none of us knows for sure.

Ugggg…I suppose the creator of this thread is hoping someone will throw out an assumption she agrees with or that makes her feel better? Its not lifted because the IRS said PATHERS will not see updates on their WMR page till the 23Rd. I don’t understand why people think that just because it lifted earlier last year, that this year will be the same. We had a shutdown! People are not going to see refunds till the 27th. Hopefully earlier, but they said the 27th. Why can’t people just accept we have to wait longer this year?? I need my money too, but cmon this forum thread is ridiculous.
