Why is my tax return being reviewed

I filed and it was accepted on 1/28. nothing since then. Today I finally called and got a human who investigated and told me mine was being “reviewed” and it would be at least 16 more days!!!!! I asked if this was an audit and she said no. What does this mean ? Does anybody know?

i sure hope so.. because i got the same letter i two made about 20k with 2 kids one whom i jus had in june and the other is 11 i was thinking mayb they didnt think my daughter was mines but i can give them the time she came out me if the need me to lol.. im just hoping it doesnt take the whole 60 days because i really needed that..

I found something out about the 4464c letter. If there’s no code number in the right top corner next to the code 4464c, then they aren’t reviewing anything, just buying time basically. Mine has a zero next to that and so does a lot of peoples, but if they’re actually checking stuff it’ll have the code of what they’re checking. It’s just a computer generated message.

I found a tax preparer that said out of 33 people he filed for 19 got 4464c letters. He said that’s unheard of and with being short staffed he can gaurantee they aren’t reviewing all the people the computer is sending it to.

They should have to tell you why its under review. I think mine is to since its been 21 days and no bars,no transcripts. What the hell is there to review that’s so special on my whole $20,0000 I made this year with the same wife and the same 3 kids as before. IRS is a bunch of freakin idiots. They just need to do away with the whole tax system and go to a flat tax.

I just got a letter today that told me the same thing. My 2014 transcripts are still zeros, it doesn’t even show they sent a letter.

On mine they’re reviewing either my eitc, wages reported, or business income. I don’t have a business though so it’s not that. It said they don’t need more info, but they’ll let me know if they do need more info. Oh and give them 60 days. I knew something was up when I never had an update but everyone else on my file date already has theirs pretty much.
