File 1/15
According t turbo tax I was accepted 1/16
I was really accepted according to the IRS on 1/23
SO why does turbotax say that I was accepted early?
Anyway..I had a loooooong wait with the IRS (could not view transcripts online, thanks IPSU! resequenced! hold that the agents could not explain…) until I had to get a TA to speed up the process. That situation was/ is stressful enough.
In the meantime, I kept checking SBBT/SBTPG, the bank turbotax uses. Did you know if you change your direct deposit account using the online feature it is not enough?
They did not say that anywhere during and after process. No email, no notice, a pop up message.
Instead a few days later I received a message saying RT account is not available and to contact customer service.
I did the first time, the agent NEVER said anything was wrong and it could be a website glitch.Nothing changed after a week, and after checking this forum, I called again to be told ‘since you changed your information online you ALSO need to submit a change of account form, SSN, ID, proof of account ownership). Again this was not mentioned initially when I changed the account information. I almost chewed out the agent but I had to calm myself since it was not the same person I spoke to a week prior.
So I sent in all the information. Takes them 72 hours to process, provided you call them each day to make sure the are processing.
While talking to the agent, the earlier message was removed from the account and finally I could see the fees to be taken out updated and a message dstating my refund will be processed according to my ORIGINAL request. At the same time on the phone, the agent was telling me I will get a check.Hold up….I did not ask for a check. I request direct deposit..i send all the verification papers in and you want to mail a check?
Agent: The head office decided it is for security purposes.
Me: why is that more secure? that can be lost in the mail…people have ways and means of cashing checks fraudently? how is that safer
Agent: I am telling you why….they said it is for security purposes
ME; EH…ok (me speaking slowly) I sent my SSN, a bank letter, photo ID (2 of them btw) and a signed form to prove my identity and you decided it is not enough and a check is better?
Explain again why a check is better and why your website says I will get my refund how I originally requested it?Agent: I am reading what the department wrote on your account ma’am and the reason is that it is less of a security risk
ME: I am glad you can read…now explain to me why a check is less of a security risk?
Agent: That is what they wrote
Me: transfer me to the department….After going through a few agents…this agent started feeding me some BS about algorithms and they decided it is safer this way…
ME:.. so why have me to fax all that private information when you are going to send a check anyway
Agent: That is what they decided ma’am.
so..so long turbtax…you will not be getting my business next year.
