So many have said they are done with Santa Barbara, so have you considered who you will trust next year?

H&R because this year TT screwed me out of $914 EIC!! I either have to amend my return or send back the letter they gave me showing I qualify for the EIC. Going to h&r at 9am for a free second check.
I know it’s $914 because I filed with them (not totally file, just to get a number amount) and it was that much more. Idk how turbo tax missed that much money. But if I do get that much at least turbo guarantees it so I’ll at least get my $89 filing fees back too.

I’ll still use TurboTax but won’t file until mid-Feb at the earliest. Praying for an “approved” this week…

@deepalms Yeah, I wasn’t sure about using CreditKarma last year, and people liked it last year, so that is why I tried it this year. We were planning on waiting until our next payday to file because I made the mistake of letting fees be taken out a couple years ago. It was awesome to file for free when we were ready to without being forced into upgrades!

@brideofchaotica2 after seeing peoples testimonies, i’ll be giving them a try next year. I paid over $100 in fees this year.. and it’s getting second hand deposited which i do not like..

I will continue to use TurboTax free version. Chime worked good for me but I noticed on here Netspend was a few hours faster. However I’m not into paying monthly fees so I will stick with Chime. One thing I am doing is getting a credit card so I can access my transcripts online.

I know whom I wont be using…TURBO TAX. The fees just don’t equate good customer service. You cant really talk to them or anything. Poor communication. The software isn’t very good it seems. I paid for the Deluxe version and was disappointed somewhat. I may try CreditKarma next year..I am hearing some really good things about them. Also…memo to self, PAY THE FEES UP FRONT.

This was my 1st year filing with CreditKarma, and I will definitely be filing with them from now on. I always use TT or H&R, always end up paying for their ‘upgraded services’ when starting with the free editions. Since I had a little self employment income this year, TT and H&R wanted over $100 at the end of entering all my info (I always compare because one of them is ALWAYS about $100 more or less than the other with the EXACT SAME INFO ugh) SO I tried CreditKarma. I was able to enter all my info, self employment income and deductions, completely for free. Refund about was same as TT, H&R was the one that showed a refund of $100 less this year. Screw them both. I would suggest using ANYTHING that is ACTUALLY free to file to avoid having fees taken out.

@ Tampa Bay Nay-Nay
You may be right this is my second year using TT no problems to be honest. Next year I may keep them and pay upfront too instead of switching. But I really am gonna file later in March or April. Early bird gets nothing.

Freetaxusa. Turbo tax, used the once in 2017 for 2016 taxes and they were not worth the premium when I got audited thanks to their software.
Freetaxusa every other year since 2004 with no problems.

I might stick with Turbotax, but pay my own fees upfront. This eliminates SBTPG.

H&R Block. I use them every year and always satisfied. I do it online. Usually pay fees in advance but this year I am having them taken from my refund. Still waiting for my money. Hopefully today or tomorrow.

I’ve done TaxAct every year and have never had problems. I’ve even gotten mine super early sometimes. This year I went H&R and have HATED it. Going back to TA next year.

Probably the same way I filed this year. HRB online (free, screw TT) and my prepaid card which from what I can see, everyone is hating on them right now. (Greendot) lol.
But this is my 3rd or 4th year on this site, and every year it’s a different prepaid card that gets deposited earlier than all the rest. So no sense in jumping ship. ;)
