No one is “shitting on low income people”. It is agravating seeing entitled, rude, and uneducated people demanding the IRS pay them money that isn’t owed to anyone. It’s frankly gross. As far as “hard lives” go I’ve been there done that, I have no intention of airing my personal horrors but there is life after. It takes a ton of hard work but you can make your life better. Do these credits help? Absolutely. Part of being thankful is being gracious and some of the trash I’ve seen on here is disturbing. This isn’t money owed to you, it’s given. Be patient just like everyone else has to be.

It’s sad to see people here shitting on lower income people for getting these tax credits. I’ve had to pay every year until this year because I adjusted my withholdings and am getting a return for once, but I think it’s great that working class people are getting high returns because our society shits on them in every other way. You want to talk about handouts? Billionaires like Jeff Bezos made billions last year. You know how much he paid in taxes on that? $0. That’s a damn handout. That’s what you should be mad about, but guess what? The autocrats who run our country want you to be mad at lower income people and think they are the ones who don’t contribute so that you don’t focus on the richest people in our country NEVER paying their fair share. That is the corporate welfare class and they are a million times worse on our society than some damn working mothers getting credits.

Why the hate on people that need assistance? In February 2018 I was raped by a male I’d never even met before and got pregnant as a result of that. I worked last year 80-100 hours per week so I wouldn’t have to give my baby up for adoption as I wasn’t anticipating having anymore children as I had two already. That whole pregnancy I was very ill with severe liver issues related to the pregnancy and severe gestational diabetes needing insulin injections four times per day and I’ve never had any type of diabetes ever before then. September 4, 2018 when I was 30 weeks pregnant I was a victim of domestic violence at my home after being put on strict bedrest and I spoke up at one of my many doctor appointments and they got me in touch with a local organization immediately after that doctor appointment. The organization put me up in a motel for a whole month and I was considered homeless due to the domestic violence. I was 45 miles away from any of my family and friends for safety reasons. Now I have my own beautiful townhome I’m renting because of this organization helping me and caring about my children and I. I am on food assistance and housing assistance and right now I do not feel bad at all about it, I’m very grateful that people actually cared enough to help me.

I am currently on the phone with the IRS, they are telling me that my refund is still being held for PATH, they don’t know why some are being given DDD that filed later than others. The guy literally told me, it’s just luck of the draw.

And to clarify for koka, you WORK for your paycheck. That’s what you get for not sitting on your ass, the credits are a subsidy from the government GIVEN to those who try to help themselves by actually working.
*Deleted educated political input because it’s pointless to argue with someone who clearly can’t think independently*
Have a great week everyone, the wait is what it is and you may as well spend that time content instead of contrite.

Gotta love the blind political comments and Mr. /Mrs. “Woke” who can’t to simple math on what’s earned vs given yet regurgitates what they’re told to think from MSM. 😂 Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m sure there will be movement this week/weekend and you will either get a release or a hold code. You do realize there are millions of people all trying to get their returns at one time and thanks to the theives and fraudsters among us, these returns have to be checked for accuracy. As hard as it may be, sip some tea, give yourself some calming affirmations and wait. I was put on a random hold last year and didn’t get my refund until 5/5. I can assure you all the worrying and calling in the world won’t get you your refund any faster, in fact when I did call last year the next day I was put on a 507 hold and resequenced. In my experience it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie.

@Koka it damn sure is a gift, I live next to a section 8 housing complex, Dirty diapers everywhere trash littering the street, about 4x a year people send their kids to my house to beg for money then egg my cars etc if they dont get it.
Mean while I live in the same neighborhood under the same poverty but because I’m not a woman and I don’t pop out a bunch of tax refunds (Kids)
I’ll pay in waaaaaaay more than you ever will and maybe get back 400-500 dollars a year, and I cannot get any benefits at all because I’m a white man I get Food stamps for 3 months every 5 years, That’s IT No other kind of asssistance.
You section 8’rs get 9k-12k back a year it’s insane and you guys have frauded the tax system for years for ill gotten gains…. It’s a damn gift accept it.

Jelly, I am talking about EITC and not ACTC. But yes, if you look at my original comment, I mentioned what you just said already.

February 18, 2019 at 5:50 pm #4279300Jelly
Randell,
Until you make too much money, you’ll be receiving a credit for your child. If you claim him or her each year. -
February 18, 2019 at 5:49 pm #4279296Jelly
Jess,
You’re very welcome. People try to make up all kinds of lies lol. Tomorrow is definitely going to be a busy day for IRS tomorrow because I will be one of the first to call.
-
February 18, 2019 at 5:45 pm #4279287Randall
Some of it IS a gift, though. If I put in $4k of tax withholding and get back $7k, that’s a gift lol. It is well intended and I think it ultimately helps most people it goes to and thus helps the country, so I think it is worth it… but it is a damn gift because I didn’t put all $7k in.
-
February 18, 2019 at 5:43 pm #4279279Jess
Jelly, thank you for the reassurance because thats what I was thinking as well.
-
February 18, 2019 at 5:39 pm #4279168Koka
You had to work though Randall. It’s not a gift. You had to work. If you did no work at all, you’d be getting nothing at all. Meaning it’s not a gift if you worked for it. That’s my point. You can’t get any credit if you didn’t work. If you work for something, it’s not exactly a gift. If you’d sat on your ass for every day of every month, then ok, it’s a gift.

February 18, 2019 at 5:38 pm #4279166Jelly
Jess, I don’t think you’ll get flagged by calling. Especially if you are at your 21 days.
-
February 18, 2019 at 5:36 pm #4279161Randall
Jimzzz is right, though.
We worked a lot less last year because we moved to a different state and had a new baby. We worked most of the year, but the hard truth is we are getting back more than we paid in.
The credits are technically handouts made to help lower income people. They are part of our safety net in this country to curb poverty. That’s why they don’t apply to people once they are over a certain level of income, a low one at that.
We made half of what we made two years ago, when we didn’t get EITC, but this year we did. I won’t complain because we can definitely use the money, but I won’t pretend every cent is a penny I put in, and I am not aiming to get this credit every year. It is working for us this year as intended–to help us get back up on our feet when we need it after a tough year.

Now I’m reading all this people saying you’ll get flagged by calling…I JUST WANT A DDD 😭
-
February 18, 2019 at 5:27 pm #4279144Jess
I’m calling because I filed and got accepted on 1/29, complete and total bullshit that people who filed a week after me already have their DDD. Don’t care how long I’m on hold, I’m getting answers if my WMR doesn’t update from the “is being processed” message tomorrow morning. Give me my damn date, it’s their job.
-
February 18, 2019 at 5:00 pm #4279090
Honestly im calling because i was told too and some might have gotten flagged because our filing status got changed due to a computer glitch with irs.
-
February 18, 2019 at 4:04 pm #4278923Nikesha
If you have no weird codes, I would recommend that you do NOT call them. That’s exactly how I ended up having to ID verify. It said it right on the 4883c letter I got. Trust me, you’re better off just waiting unless its been way too long or you’re told to call.
-
February 18, 2019 at 3:43 pm #4278844Jesslynn
I will. Filed 1/15 accepted 1/16. NO movement since then other then “we received your info..etc etc etc”

Maybe it will update overnight and nobody will have to call.
Remember, it said the updates would start 2/23 So the ones who were updated this weekend for a DDD of 2/22 are “blessed” and I’m happy for them.
The rest of us will hopefully update overnight. The people with “STILL PROCESSING” and 1541 or other weird codes should definitely call tomorrow if no change. -

no offense taxes…but they have changed. Use to be when you filed early that the wait time was no longer than around 15-20 days for us. NOW…we are bunched into what seems like one entire batch and the wait is just as long as it is for folks that filed later. THATS ABSOLUTE STUPIDITY. The selling point that Turbo tax has is “file your taxes early” blah blah blah…. WELL, there is no point in rushing out to do that now. Sorry for the rant.

February 18, 2019 at 12:49 pm #4278390Koka
The 1541 code does tell you to call them. For anybody wondering. When you owe somebody money, do they wait to call you for it? No they do not. If you tell them you’ll pay them on the 1st, they expect that in their hand by closing day. If it is not, you’ll get a call. This is the procedure of any company dealing with money/loans. Which our taxes are an interest free loan to the government. For the streets they don’t fix. For the police who are supposed to protect and serve. For a president who wants to have 8 billion of our dollars. Yeah, I’m going to call for my money. If he can make a fuss for something he didn’t earn, I’m most certainly going to find out where my money is and when I’ll be receiving it. Thank you very “damn” much.

every tax paying citizen has a right to question those in power…and YES…even the IRS. Know what happens when you just “assume” things are what they are and we MUST accept them as is? I am just saying…its not much to ask to try to get the IRS to streamline the way in which they process the returns. Right now, its broken. Nothing we can do this year but wait…we are at their mercy, but maybe in the meantime they can try to fix the broken system. The elongated wait time has caused hardships on hard working families.

Save money this yr so you dont get so damn upset next year waiting on something u have no control over.
-
February 18, 2019 at 12:40 pm #4278363TaxesRNothingNew
Nothing has changed this tax yr. Wtf would someone call on ur behlf. U call in and make ur own self look suspicious, not someone else. Wait on ur tax return unless they tell u contact them. Leave that shit alone and just wait. Damn.
-
February 18, 2019 at 12:39 pm #4278360ray c
CLEARLY THE IRS is slow walking the returns with all the credits etc. Never have I had to wait over 20 days since being accepted. ..and I was accepted on 1/23. Let me know what you all find out Tues if you call them.Im just exhausted at this point.
-
February 18, 2019 at 12:35 pm #4278348
I know it was said tomorrows gonna busiest day to call longer wait times

February 18, 2019 at 12:33 pm #4278342Koka
@dan
I don’t think anybody is going to be rude or disrespectful. You catch flies quicker with honey than shxt. But it is in fact our right to call and ask what’s the hold up. Especially if we have no letter or anything at all except the “there is a delay in processing your return” message.
