Who owes the IRS?

I’m pretty sure that anyone who has an offset to the IRS is still waiting for their refund (according to turbo tax). I know they have never made us wait in the past, if we owed, but for some reason, this year they are taking longer to recalculate our refunds and send us the difference. I just wanted to see if anyone who has an IRS offset has received their refund or a DDD yet. Thanks!!

We got our DDD 2/24/16! They took the offset my husband owes from last year and posted how much the refund will be. Filed 2/1, IRS received 2/2 and bars went away around the 6th. I am hoping all of you get updates tonight!

Who woke up with a DDD 2/24??

I did!! Woo! Praying ya’ll did too so we can all be done with the waiting game! WMR tells me my new amount after the irs took their $ and with the DDD of 2/24. I feel like I can finally rest. :)

I am so upset right now. I really thought that I HAD to get a DDD this Saturday, but now I know that I won’t. Its been over 21 days. I was able to order my return transcripts last Friday (Feb 12th). I thought I’d get a DDD that next morning, but that Saturday I lost my bars and my TT152. Message has said ” We received your return and it is being processed” ever since.

Tuesday (Feb 15th) I called and spoke to a nice rep who informed me that I owed back taxes (Federal) from 2013. My ex always filed our taxes and apparently he did not report all of his income and owed the IRS 8K. She informed me that they took his refund of 5K and the remaining balance would be deducted from my refund and I’d receive my remaining balance. She told me I would be delayed by one week. No other issues with my return just this offset.

So, the boards were showing that many people were able to call today and were being told of their DDD so I decided to give it a shot. I got another nice rep who looked into my account, but she did not see a DDD. She said that the offset has not been applied to my refund. My original refund amount still shows as the full amount. She said they should be taking the offset amount from my refund, but it hasn’t happened yet. She said it should be another week.

My bills can’t wait another week and I am out of savings. I am going in for surgery this next week and have been unable to work. I set aside money for this because I knew it was coming, but I did figure in having my refund by now.

I am not sure getting an advocate would even be helpful even though I am experiencing a hardship. I don’t think they can get anything done any faster than 1 more week, but I am worried because last week I was told 1 week and what if next week I am told something else and still no refund!

Does anyone know why in the world they would not have taken their money by now? Its not owed to a different agency or anything. I owe no other debts, for sure. The rep said nothing about even being on hold while they look for other debts.

She told me my refund is set to be direct deposited on 02/24

She gave me my reduced refund amount and everything

Filed 2/1 with TT, IRS received 2/2, no bars or anything since 2/5

OK, just called IRS again. The lady I spoke with on Tuesday told me to call today if I did not have an update. This lady I just spoke with was SUPER nice. Explained everything in more detail to me. Our refund is approved but since we have an offset for my husbands last years taxes it takes another week. What she sees in the system is the offset is completely paid and has a posting date of 2/29, she explained they operate a week in advanced so when she sees that the posting date is 2/29 she said we will have our refund before that. We will most likely see an update in the WMR site by Monday and since we are direct deposit and direct deposits are done everyday we will have our money most likely next week. They do update the systems every night but generally big updates happen on Friday as that is the end of their “cycle” week. After talking with her I feel more at ease, our 21 days is Tuesday and she feels we will have our refund by then. I hope this helps anyone out there in limbo. I’ve been on a payment plan for my 2012-14 taxes and when I called last week they told me I didn’t need to do anything that they would stop once the balance was at 0. She also told me that my offsets had already been paid and that I wouldn’t have a payment this month. I was skeptical due to not receiving my refund yet and with the freeze and everything- this morning woke up to the payment taken out of my account- so I called -again- and she said it was predated for the funds release on the 29th and that it will show as a credit and I will have to call back in 7-10 business days to request the refund of the overpayment- she also gave me a number to call to make sure my monthly payments have stopped.

Anyway- I’m guessing my ddd is the 29th judging by the release of funds date she told me. Right?

As with most of you I lost my bars and topic on 2/6. Called yesterday and she told me that the hold takes 2-3 weeks now because the system looks for any other offsets. It will probably get lifted at end of day 19th, or end of day 26th. Fingers Crossed !!

I’m weekly and was able to order return transcripts on 2-5 same time my “freeze” happened. As of Monday my account was still frozen and I was told it would not lift until the 22nd then I can start checking wmr for status updates again. I am still can’t passing my fingers I get an update this weekend and not have to wait till next week.. But that’s asking a lot.

Yea. I know that I’m a weekly. I’ve been a weekly for a WHILE which kinda stinks, but at the same time, I know what to expect, until THIS YEAR.

So… I was able to order my return trans on 2/5 and THEN lost my bars on 2/6…. when I asked about that they told me it was because that is when they posted the freeze on it, took out the money we owed, and now we are just waiting for the system to take off the freeze and release the funds (according to two different people from the IRS). Soooo I’m praying THIS Saturday is a DDD for me and I will have a happy bank account one day next week. :)

Can you file for injured spouse (I’m not sure why they call it that) and get your portion of the taxes back? I would look into that and see if you qualify.

Since you owe an IRS debt, you would be processed weekly. Weekly’s are only updated on WMR Friday night into Saturday morning. So try Friday morning and throughout the day Friday to order a return transcript. If you can order the return transcript then you know you are done processing and should get a DDD on Saturday morning around 4/5 am! Good Luck!!

no update here :( still no letter, nothing on WMR – no TT or bars. No money either. I am thinking it is going to be a while. Praying for Saturday. I promise to update if there are changes. Honestly trying to forget about it! If thats possible. We are not hurting for the money like some people are, but we are planning to use it for the money down on a home so we WILL NEED IT very soon. But if I have to wait until March I’m good with it. I just wish they would give a clear answer.

Hi everyone!

Looks like I was given the same info today as Hope. We filed 2/,1 received same day. Normally takes about 10 days but this year the bars went away and there was no tax topic, nothing. Called today spoke to a rude lady and got nowhere. Called back and got someone nice and she said, we had an offset from husbands last year taxes. (we knew this) It was frozen at the moment just making sure no other debts were there and I should have an updated DDD by Thursday. If we didn’t have an offset we would have been paid already. (nice way to rub it in I thought lol) The offset is completely taken care of and we will be refunded the balance. If I don’t have an update by Thursday I should call back. Not exactly what we wanted to hear but at least it was something. I would love to hear if you guys get an update this week and I will make sure to update on ours. Saying my prayers tonight for some good news in the morning!

I’ve had no luck on that #- it always says I have no non tax debts… But won’t tell me any tax debt info. I’ve always had to call the IRS.. It would be awesome if they had a number to check and see what’s paid for past tax debts.

thanks for ur reponse…. i keep getting mixed responses on whether or not that 304-3107 # actually relays messages of IRS debt. are u saying that when you called, the automated message let u know of your federal debt?

well I can’t speak on experiences other than my own, but I think there is. My sister and I both have debts (mine with federal and hers with the state) and we filed 1 day apart (1/22 & 1/23) Our bars disappear two weeks ago and we have had no update since. I called on the 21st day and was told it was due to the offset but that the offsets had been paid and to give it some time for the freeze to come off the refund. I am hearing this is taking 2-3 weeks. I used the automated system to confirm that my debts show a 0.00 balance with the IRS. Now just wait :( there is a tax refund offset hotline you can call 800-304-3107

i filed jointly and i feel theres a strong possibility my husband owes the irs from before we were together. so 2 questions:

A. is there an automated line or website to let u check if u owe IRS (tax debts)

B. is there any correlation between TT152 disappearing and a debt being owed?

Wow! So I just got off the phone with the IRS. I only had to wait 10 minutes because I called the line for owing them instead of the “talk to a person” number like most everyone else. I actually got this very nice lady. She checked and said that our debt was paid in full, but they had yet to lift the freeze because the debt being paid has yet to post to my account. This is because the debt was under my husband as the primary and me as the secondary and this year I filed as the secondary. They still took the debt, but it’s taking longer for system to see that it was posted. Basically, she told me to expect something around the first week of March. Boo! I mean, that isn’t far away, but it’s still not when I WANT IT! lol ;) We are all in difference situations, but I wanted to share my update with ya’ll since ya’ll are all sharing yours. Good luck with getting your refund soon, I hope she was a little off and I’ll get an update soon! lol Be Blessed!

I owed the IRS from a 2013 assessment. My WMR updated that they had taken the money owed. It has the amount I was getting back as a refund. I opted for a paper check. I called the treasury department and my check was mailed the 12th like WMR said it would be. So no delay at all.

when I called they didnt give me any indication of when I could expect to have a DDD so I am glad they gave you a little more information than me. Hopefully what they told you is correct! It doesnt matter to me when I get my refund as long as I am getting something at some point!

I filed 1/27 and was accepted 1/27. I lost all bars with tax topic 152.. I got a DDD for 2/18 with my offsets taken out.

Same here! I owe from 2012 and am on a payment plan. This year I am getting enough back to cover what I owe and still get a refund- yay! Anyway- I filed and was accepted 1/25 I was able to order return transcripts on 2/5 then I lost all bars and my wmr says “there is a delay in processing your return” and ref code 1541
When I call the IRS they told me on two different calls- that the freeze on my account due to past tax debts would’ve lifted on 2/22 and after that I should have my refund in 2-3 weeks. Today I called and she told me my offsets were paid last week and to expect my refund to be available 2-3 weeks after the 22nd. I asked my it wasn’t available now and she didn’t have an answer just told me to keep checking wmr. ..

YES!! This is what I want to know!! My 21 days was up 2/13 and I called and they informed me it was taking longer due to my past debts with the IRS. Said to “give it more time” and that it does show that the debts are paid. So basically everything is good and I will get the balance after the debts are paid, but no idea as to when. Very frustrating. I did get my transcript so at least I know the number to deduct from is correct – hopefully they hurry up! I would love to know if anyone else with an offset has received their money!!
