So idk if this is something cool to do but it’s better than droning on about ddd and path when I’ve read every topic and post there is to read . So here’s what I’m doing … Paying rent , of course ! Then paying my mothers rent ( nice surprise eh ) .Then calling sugar hill subs (best sub shop in south jersey / east coast ) and grabbing a cheesesteak with fried mushroom and onions with cooper cheese ( extra ) and a yoohoo . I owe my “friend” 200 dollars for a brick and 2 buns and I’m grabbing another 2 bricks on top of that . Buying the new star wars game for xbox 1 and also all the expansions for Stellaris then I’m gonna grow roots into my couch for 2 days playing that until it’s back to work !

@Josh I am so sorry for your loss.
Me and my husband are going to move into a house we’ve had our eyes on for a few years. It’s finally available at a time we’ll have the money IF IT’LL EVER COME lol.
We’re dealing with a psycho neighbor situation at the moment and we can’t get out of here soon enough.

@Rika, I’m w you.
Savings account, investment (in my business), Million dollar Policy paid up for one yr. I like to see my money work for me, increase, or, remain steady. A decrease and it scares me. I’m not a spender. Being broke isn’t an option for me! Plus, leaving my kids better off is my goal.

Pay off the car so we can actually afford to pay the water bill completely every month, and start work on tearing up and replacing the bathroom floor (hidden water damage we didn’t find out about til AFTER we bought the damn place) Pay overdraft fees and buy the kids school stuff. Buy my mom groceries and help my sister pay her late fees so she can move state to be with her fiance. Buy groceries.

Probably replace my cell phone, buy some new scrubs for work – and a nicer carrying bag for my books and laptop.
The rest is going into my land fund so I can buy a piece of property before I sell my house.
This is the first year I didn’t have to earmark a portion of my refund to pay a bill, replace an appliance or fix something.
I’m still OCD about my refund though. Old habits are hard to break. Once you’ve struggled to make ends meet it’s hard not to worry about being back in that situation.

Paying a couple months rent and taking a little vacation with my husband. Saving the rest. My husband works in road construction, and he get laid off every winter. Usually we need our refund around this time just to survive, but we were able to get by this winter a little better. Now we will be able to use our return for something fun.

My family and I are going to RV full time and so we are getting a used rv and all that supplies. Our rent is 1100 a month and the rv campground is 480 so we are stoked to save some money!

Fixing brakes on the car. Been leaking fluid for a month now. Getting new sticker for plates. Then the 6 months for insurance. Depending on whats left I might get me a handymans special in a run down part of town depending on my credit. Might have to take one of the free mobile homes where you just pay the lot fee.

We are preparing for a cross country move, so a good chunk will go towards that, couple of bills I want to pay off, then the rest goes in the vacation fund. We want to take the kiddos to Disney this year.

Literally catching up on bills and paying off CC’s. I then split the rest with the wife and I’ll be doing a couple home improvement projects. As for splurging? I’ll be spending a bit on a few new firearms and more ammo. I’m a bit of a collector.

Pay off the last $400 of debt my husband & I have from us both being injured and off of work last year!
Then I’m going to spend a few hundred on my kids to spoil them (because we couldn’t afford Christmas this past year)
Then I’m putting almost all the rest in savings to start rebuilding it.

Normally I use it to pay 6-12 months of car insurance (depending on size of the return). This way it’s something i never have to think about.
This is the first year I am getting a substantial return. Upgrading a cell phone and putting a down payment on a new car, and of course paying the insurance for 6-12 months on that car. If there is anything left I will save 50% and spend 50% foolishly.

Oh yes, and the current half year of auto insurance will be paid in full. The other half for later in the year will sit in savings until renewal.

We’ll pay several months’ rent ahead, it’s a nice cushion to have pre-paid in the event of something expensive cropping up out of nowhere later in the year. Last year, it was medical bills and an emergency automotive repair — a busted axle is dangerous on the road. We pay ahead 2-3 months every year, our rental agency is quite happy to get several months paid ahead at once, and it’s simply piece of mind for us.
After that, we have two annual pet check-ups coming up, so the refund will offset that (or pay for it, depending on deposit timing)
And after THAT, the remainder will go to savings until it’s needed.
