          Yes it is true i agree with tom state can pay fees if it comes first i worked in taxes for over 10 yrs an have seen it happen…with sbtpg it can happen please everyone read your paperwork that is very important..This will happen if you file state and fed an you opt for fees to be paid thru refund if state come. First an its enough to pay prepare r fees they will take it out only way for them not to is to opt for state mailed so all fees can come from federal..Wouldn’t tell you nothing wrong.

            It’s through Republic Bank. I didn’t think it could come from the state refund either but they did. And they put it in their paperwork. I looked it up on Republic’s website and it shows what they used it for…fees. I only went to Jackson Hewitt because I hoped to get the advance. I was paid off January 18. I didn’t get it and I’m screwed out of alot of money. I’m going back to Turbo Tax next year for sure. I had never used one of these companies and I never will again!!

              They are not allowed to tie the fees out of state, only federal, your state shouldn’t even touch sbtpg period.

              But this is also the issue you have when you pay hundreds to do your taxes. And not get every deduction your allowed.

              Next year use turbo tax.

                  @Tom

                  Then maybe it’s just Jackson Hewitt that doesn’t then. I elected to have my fees taken out of my refund. I thought it would be just the federal but when my state hit, it took it. I looked over the paperwork they gave me and it’s states that the “fees (authorized deductions) will be deducted from the first refund received, whether from the IRS or from the state taxing authority”. It was shocked because they didn’t disclose this to me and it was on page 4 of this mess of paperwork.

                    @Andrea

                    Not true… Your FEDERAL return is your funding source… not state. They do it that way because not everyone receives a state refund, most break even.

                      If you used a tax preparer, HR Block, Jackson Hewitt, someone like those, you may not receive your state refund at all. Of you chose to have your fees taken from you refunds. Most of those companies, take there fees out of the first refund received and then any remaining balance out of the next refund. You may want to check how your fees are paid out. Its happened to me this year. I have used Turbo Tax for the past 7 years, well I went a different route and I this has happened to me. Just wanted to share.

                          When I had checked SBTPG on 2/9 they had received my state return but as of today 2/12 I still haven’t received any thing.
