So I FINALLY got a tax advocate and she told me we are under a wage verify. I have to call Monday. What will I need to send in for this to be resolved? My husband switched jobs in December so he has 2 W2’s for this tax season…

Finally spoke to my TA and got my second to last pay stub faxed over along with my former employers name and number. She did tell me that it may take a little longer than normal because everyone is working from home but here’s hoping it jumpstarted something. It’s a small glimmer of hope.

when the TA asks for check stubs is the last two check stubs of 2019 or the last two current check stubs. My wife got a raise at the first of the year so it would impact things. Also If I can’t get a check stub would a signed letter by the bookkeeper and her boss + w2 be enough you think?

@carrie
If it’s any consolation, these things work out on its own at times but supposedly TA can make it happen quicker. -

long story short. filed on 2.3 and been processing then still processing on wmr ever since. found out from irs rep at the end of feb that our income was not updated. took 3 weeks to hear back from a tax advocate after faxing 911 form and calling multiple times. TA finally reached out to us on 3.16 saying we needed to send copy of last pay stub. faxed it over same day. 11 days later (TODAY) we were told by our TA that we have a DDD for WEDNESDAY 4/1. hopefully this is over with now!e!

Do what you feel is best for you, however above are the fax numbers I would personally be sending info to. It’ll go to whoever ur TA is no matter where she is. Put her ID number and her name on it. -

And the only info I have is the women’s name and her Id number.

@Gofigure I am in WV and my local TA office is closed right now. I called the national TA number and was assigned someone in PA..at least according to the call back number she left.

Carrie I think u are in New York..they have more than one office. U click on that link and pick the nearest office to u. Do u have ur ta name and or if number? Do u have case number? I’d personally fax a form 911 with all ur info like u don’t know u have an advocate and they will put ur info out there to your ta case agent

Or…for everyone out there>>>
Click on your state and the number and fax number is there
https://www.irs.gov/advocate/local-taxpayer-advocateDo a simple cover letter…if u haven’t already applied, do a form 911. Include paystub (at least the last one from the year) each piece of paper with ur ss# and name. Write down ur circumstances again if ur up to it.

So If I haven’t been put in contact with my TA (after having a case-file for a month) I wonder if I could just send a fax and it would somehow get its way to the person (working form home) I’m running out of ideas lol.

It’ll go to ur assigned TA email (the fax is eFax) when they look up your name and social ..then they’ll have what is needed (if it’s just paystub).
-
March 26, 2020 at 5:08 pm #4397365GoFigure
Why wait to fax it?
-
March 26, 2020 at 4:47 pm #4397364
Called and left my assigned TA another message so maybe she’ll call me tomorrow and I can fax over some stuff and try to get all this crap expedited

So I got a letter from my TA and I faxed over all the documents they requested. However, when I try to call her direct extension I get a voicemail saying she will not be in for several days…. SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!?!?

I never got a call from my TA (apparently according to the intake guy I talked to last week I got a case file started way back). It has been a month. No contact whatsoever. Giving up at this point.

@DeeDeeLTL so you’re saying I have a chance lol? I really need to get this settled. I’m getting ready to go on unpaid leave due to this virus because I work with the public but I have a medically fragile child so I have stay home with him. Having my refund would make it a little easier. Hopefully they call me soon.

Withholdings*
-
March 23, 2020 at 10:40 am #4396567DeeDeeLTL
@Carrie
No no, they won’t request all of that.. they usually request one of those things or a combination of those things. It depends on the TA you receive and the protocol they are given to follow.
What they are trying to see with the last stub is the amount of the withholding me, the total from all the checks, etc..

@Gofigure I have the second to the last paystub I received before I quit. The last one was literally only for 9 hours and I have no clue where it is. But I have the one before that. I quit there in June. I’m hoping maybe it will be good enough. Gotta wait for the TA to call me Wed.

@Carrie
Do u have ur last paystub from last year with that company?? U don’t need letter, just paystub. This TA told me to write the name of someone that they can call to verify the paystub. -
March 23, 2020 at 8:44 am #4396547
Oh Lort I’m never gonna get my refund if I need all that…I might as well just start looking forward to next year.
-
March 22, 2020 at 9:45 pm #4396507GoFigure
But added that if I can’t get that, then a letter from employer with all paystub info and name and number of person to call is sufficient
-
March 22, 2020 at 9:44 pm #4396506GoFigure
Mine just asked for the last paystub for the year 2019
-
March 22, 2020 at 9:15 pm #4396505DeeDeeLTL
It is dependent upon the TA you have. Some request last 3 paycheck stubs, some a letter from that employer, some a letter and a paycheck stub, etc.. so it really does just depend.
