If your loans are through Nelnet, you can use the account number that Nelnet uses to report to credit bureau. Originally, I was told I needed the account number they use to report to Experian so I called Nelnet and was given this long number beginning with a 900000******. I tried to order transcripts with it and was locked out so I called back and got the TransUnion and Equifax. I went back to order transcripts next day and tried these 2 and the TransUnion one worked. I would try that one first and them go down the list if that one doesn’t work because the IRS could have the system set up to take anyone of the 3. FYI the account number on your Nelnet statement will not work so do not let the agent convince you that is the one. Tell them it is a long number beginning with a 9 and it is used for them to report to the credit bureau..get all three account numbers.
