Holy moly, that was quick! Filled on 3/9, and the state website says my refund was issued today, 3/18. Was NOT expecting that!

@Mackenzie
When I saw your post about this on the main page I wondered if you were in VT (the comment about having only one area code). One would think that it would be easy to verify! I had gotten caught in the crazy unemployment 1099 fiasco. I know it is going to be a while. I hope that things go smoothly for you once you get your info to them!

@mntgirl I filed on 1/29. Turbo told me I was accepted same day. So when I saw people recieving refunds when the tracker says they’re processed in the order received I was like hmm. Gave it another week and emailed them today, they told me that they wanted the Social Security card and birth certificate of my daughter born in 2020. 🤦♀️ Couldnt they just look in our small ass data base? Lmao. Wish you luck!

-

Hey sam!! 😂😘 so pretty much the tracker for vt returns is screwed but I ended up checking again after I got something in the mail from the treasury saying I owed 91$ or something. I got “return being processed in order it was received.” Everyone’s is messed up not just yours. Hope all is well. Xoxoxo

Anybody have any updates on vermont taxes?
-
February 20, 2021 at 11:59 am #4456719Samantha Bushika
The site is still telling me they have no information on my refund, but they have my homestead declaration and that is processing. How do they have my Homestead Declaration but not my taxes when my honestead declaration is a part of my taxes??

February 19, 2021 at 3:13 pm #4456065
called vermont the woman was quite rude. She told me they knew it was down because there are too many returns coming in at once and uploading to the site is extremely slow. I told her that i had already been accepted and asked how long should it take for a refund? She asks if i filed paper or electronically? I told her I efiled and then she proceeds to tell me that it should take 6-8 weeks before i get it!! What?!? I have never seen them so disorganized :( Is it just mine??

April 11, 2020 at 3:46 am #4401810Vermont girl
I am a Vermont resident that filed taxes on Feb. 8, 2020 both federal and state were accepted on Feb 9, 2020. My federal was DD on Feb 26, 2020 but just got word today April 10th 2020 finally that my state was processed and sent out on April 9th, 2020 and I should receive it in 10-15 days. I hope this helps anyone with questions regarding this years tax returns because I was really starting to wonder if I didn’t do something right this year.
-
February 27, 2020 at 1:29 pm #4384657
Yes, some have gotten their refund and it seemed to be about 2-3 weeks. I have not and I believe that it is because the feds are holding up my refund and I think it is causing problems with my state. I plan on calling maybe tomorrow to find out if that is the case. Good luck!
-
February 27, 2020 at 8:27 am #4384334Philip
Hi all! Has anyone received their refund test.? Can anyone comment on the time line from being accepted to actual day the DD landed?
-
February 21, 2020 at 8:53 pm #4366413
The darn VT website has been down all evening, how the heck am I supposed to check on my refund :)
-
February 19, 2020 at 6:54 pm #4360198
Now I worry that something is wrong with mine. Oh well, only time will tell.
Heather:
I usually have my deposit in the second day after it is issued. -
February 19, 2020 at 1:12 pm #4359470Heather
Hi all;
Filed 31st, accepted next day, today I got message my refund was issued yesterday and I should wait 10-15 days to receive, even though I have DD.
It’s not in my account; Federal was there before I even received notification of refund sent!
Is it normal for state refunds to take a while to appear, once issued?
Many Thanks -
February 18, 2020 at 5:03 pm #4357000
No, the morning after I was accepted I had access and have not had a problem.
-
February 18, 2020 at 4:41 pm #4356944Natasha
Anyone else having issues logging in to check your status? Filed on the 2nd and mine keeps saying they have no information… We called today and they said they dont see any issues however we should have been able to check it in the few days after being accepted…

Hey fellow VTers! Fingers crossed that this is my week!
-
February 14, 2020 at 7:53 pm #4350594Emma
Sara,
Mine said that as well but it went direct deposit. Although in 2017 and 2016 they sent me a check instead of direct deposit so who knows. Lol. -
February 14, 2020 at 8:28 am #4349786Sara
No deposit for me yet, it said it could take 10-15 days so I’m wondering ever though I said direct deposit if I’m going to see a check in the mail … it will arrive in time (hopefully).
-
February 14, 2020 at 8:08 am #4349756
Congrats to all the deposits! My will come soon enough!

February 12, 2020 at 11:27 pm #4348015Sara
@mtngirl @familysixforever thanks! I know last year I truly had my refund in a matter of days, I did see a press release the department issued telling people their refunds would be processed faster if they wait until March to file … not sure what that was about but this is truly the longest I’ve ever waited. Hopefully you have updates on yours soon!
-
February 12, 2020 at 10:09 pm #4347978
Congratulations Sara!!
-
February 12, 2020 at 7:39 pm #4347882
Yay Sara! Congrats! I think it only took 2 days last year.
-
February 12, 2020 at 7:10 pm #4347856Sara
My federal and state were filed at the same time 1/11/2020. I got my federal return on the 29th and when I checked today the states website indicates they issued my refund today. Hopefully I should see is in the next few days.
-
February 12, 2020 at 8:43 am #4347122
Mtngirl I’m thinking your prediction may be true. Mine keeps saying being processed in the order they are received and they received it on the 1/23/2020. Please keep me updated if anyone sees any movement.
-
February 12, 2020 at 8:26 am #4347107
I have a prediction. If this season goes like it has the past two years, I should 🤞🏻 see my state refund next week. I am a weekly for federal, so I only update on Saturdays. The past two years, once the IRS has finally started to process my return (first Saturday after 15th), my WMR loses it’s bars and on that Monday VT seems to process my refund, and I have it that a Wednesday. Then I get my Fed DDD on WMR the following Saturday, which has always been deposited a week after the state.
As I said, this is how it has worked since PATH started. Curious if it is a coincidence, or a real pattern. We will see next week!
-
February 7, 2020 at 11:06 pm #4342609
Sadly no updates here :(
-
February 6, 2020 at 6:08 pm #4340982Sara
No updates here either, I read somewhere that they really only update on Friday evenings, not sure if that’s true.
-
February 6, 2020 at 7:42 am #4340178
Not yet. Not hopeful for any changes until maybe next week. I know that VT has been slow for some, but I have received mine within 2 weeks the last two years.
-

Anyone seen any movement on the vermont tax status site?
-
January 31, 2020 at 7:56 pm #4336072Emma
Yep. It showed up the next morning on the website. Now another 5+ weeks until anything changes 🤣

-
January 30, 2020 at 6:13 pm #4335410Emma
Filed and accepted Tuesday. Now the wait begins. Lol.
-
January 30, 2020 at 3:23 pm #4335348
My return took about 3 hours to be accepted. Now I wait.
-
January 30, 2020 at 11:46 am #4335220
I just finished filing, now I wait to see how long it takes to get accepted. Good luck to all my fellow Vermonters!

Hello! Has anyone filed this 2020 tax season and seen an update yet? I filed 1/11/2020 with TaxAct I expected my return to be held but to shock it was accepted the same day but since then there has not been an updated.
Thanks

It shows my taxes were received on Feb.13 and I haven’t received them yet. It’s been 6 weeks. With having to give my license info, I’d think it would show it’s me. I have to depend on my taxes to get fuel and pay bills that need to get fought up on. I just don’t understand why it takes so long. Sorry I’m disappointed and it shows. I hope I don’t sound rude.

Vt refund status ?? I filed 2/7 and all it says is received and that’s it . Why so slow? All my friends have got theirs back already .

Just got off the phone with Vermont tax department, they mailed a check out on Tuesday instead of Direct Deposit like i asked, seems they can tell people on the tax website this info instead of just your refund has been issued with no more info.
NYS tells you all info on their site, they say your refund has been sent to your bank or a check has been mailed i’m not liking the way Vermont does itI live in NY but work in Vermont so i’m paying both States

Thank you Koda, Vermont seems to be in slow mode for sure i hope its Friday Morning instead of next Wednesday seeing how a Wednesday has already went by with nothing done

Reply #2:
I must also add that I cant remember if the 10-12 day window is calendar days or business days. if it is business days, that time window will actually end on the 26th. Vermont claims to have sped up their process last summer, but it’s actuallt slowing down compared to prior years.. At least you know it’s on it’s way, unlike a bunch of us still wandering in the void of the unknown. lolCheers

I believe they deposit on fridays and have heard of wednesdays, at least prior years they did. So possibly tomorrow or next Wednesday the 20th (the last day of you’re 12 day window). Do check your mail though, for fraud purposes they may send a check even if you’ve opted for direct deposit.
Cheers

It said my reund was issued on 3/8/2019, here it is 3/14/2019 and still nothing. Anybody know what is going on.

March 12, 2019 at 7:41 pm #4312466
I filed on 2/8 and just got my notice that it was sent today 3/12
-
March 12, 2019 at 11:27 am #4312272Koda
Seems like they are playing games honestly. Their responses are that 6-8 weeks is the normal time frame and anyone whos recieved their refund faster than that is faster than average and “shocking” to them. Though many people are in this boat with us, some have gotten their refund two weeks after filing mid February… A lot of Vermonters are increasingly becoming fed up with this nonsense and no-info waiting game. There are filers all the way back to 1/28 still in the dark…
-

Still no update on mine.

Still no update for me. Anyone else…?
-
March 4, 2019 at 6:42 am #4308736LJ
Also, i now know another person who got their VT refund back, even before federal. What is going on?? This past year i had a new baby so the only thing i can think of is that they are holding it to “look more closely” for that purpose but even that i dont believe. Getting a little frustrated. Ive never gotten it back this late…
-
March 3, 2019 at 2:30 am #4308441Koda
Vermont did open their tax season 1/28. However some forms were not ready until 2/7. Which does still fit the bill of everything being bogged up because they probably did receive a lot of returns on 2/7 from numerous filers. This still does not explain LJ and company’s situtation having filed before the 2/7 line up though. For me it’s understandable because I filed 2/9.
-
March 2, 2019 at 10:02 am #4308106Emily
My VT state return was filed and “received” on 2/7 and I haven’t had an update since. I am a NH resident and I went to the H&R Block in Claremont and they filed the federal return on 1/28. I asked H&R Block why they waited over a week to file my VT return and they told me that it was because they had to wait for VT to start accepting the returns… although I thought VT started accepting them on 1/28. My point is that if H&R Block waited until 2/7 to file all of the VT returns that they were holding onto it might have been overwhelming for the VT system.
-
March 1, 2019 at 2:35 pm #4307547LJ
Ik not exactly sure whats going on. I called them on Monday and lady said they jusy received their EITC money on February 23rd but i dont know much of that is true seeming how a friend of mine got his state back within 2 weeks and got accepted a minute after i did ok 2/5 and i have another friend who is still waiting… Not exactly sure the deal..
-
February 28, 2019 at 10:47 am #4306612Koda
well I have no clue whats up. I filed 2/9 and figured Id be processed by now seeing as they “process in order recieved” and dates ranging from 1/30 – 2/7 were processed and updated last wednesday. But with LJ’s date of 2/5 not having an update yet, I do not know what to think. My previous theory below is now debunked..
-
February 22, 2019 at 2:18 pm #4295166LJ
I see people are getting deposits and/or finished processing. Im still waiting… Were any of you ACTC or EITC? My return was received 2/5…
-
February 21, 2019 at 7:23 am #4289594Koda
Disregard the last message!
I misread Mtngirl’s date and percieved it as the 27th.
In reality it was 2/7 she filed.
So very shortly maybe today or tomorrow we should have an update!Sorry and again Cheers
-
February 21, 2019 at 7:19 am #4289577Koda
Heather,
You and I should have updates by the end of the week or quite early next week. As the VT wmr states they process in order recieved. So given Emma and Mtngirl filed a week before us (I filed 2/9) and are processed as of “today”, we should be in the next few batches.
Cheers

February 20, 2019 at 9:49 pm #4288650
I just checked, and mine was issued yesterday, should see it any day now. Deposit was pretty quick last year after being issued.
-
February 20, 2019 at 9:29 pm #4288595Emma Prive
Heather,
I filed 1/30 and mine was sent yesterday but it says allow 10-12 days to receive it. And I’m also unsure as to whether I will receive a check or direct deposit. The last two years I have requested direct deposit but they have sent me a check anyway. Either way I’m happy because I have never seen Vermont state move this fast with tax returns before. -
February 20, 2019 at 11:55 am #4286583Heather
I e-filed 2/7; with direct deposit. has anyone received their Vermont refund yet?
-
February 19, 2019 at 10:52 pm #4284951Emma Prive
Oh holy hell I spoke too soon. Checked my status tonight and my refund has been sent as of today. I don’t think my state has EVER been sent before my federal.
Now it’s just a guessing game of whether they’ll send it direct deposit or a check in the mail. The last 2 years they sent me a check despite me requesting direct deposit.
-
February 19, 2019 at 6:04 pm #4284035Emma Prive
I filed 1/30 but you know it’s going to be AT LEAST a month before any progress is made. Good ole Vermont, tax the crap out of everything then take their sweet time with our income tax refunds. Lol.
-
February 13, 2019 at 6:18 pm #4268793
Me! Did not file until 2\7, so not expected any news yet.

Any VT peeps around this year? 🤔
-
February 13, 2018 at 4:02 pm #4215830
Got the processed message on Friday, deposit today. Guessing your deposit will be tomorrow!
-
February 13, 2018 at 4:00 pm #4215828
Just got home from work, yes I did get my deposit this am. Yay!
-
February 13, 2018 at 1:15 pm #4215594LJ
I take that back! Saya refund was issued on 2/12 and waiting 10-15 days which doesnt seem to be true with everyone in here getting deposits today! How many days was that for everyone?
-
February 13, 2018 at 1:12 pm #4215587LJ
Still waiting for mine to even be done processing…filed and accepted both same day 2/1. When did you all file and get accepted? Hoping i update soon..
-
February 13, 2018 at 8:51 am #4215181
I got my refund today, in my account! It was approved on the 9th! Thank Goodness it wasn’t a paper check AGAIN this year!
-
February 13, 2018 at 7:11 am #4215075FamSixForever
Oops take that back! It just showed in my account. Now to wait on federal. Good luck everyone! I hope yours is there too mtngirl :)

February 13, 2018 at 7:06 am #4215068FamSixForever
no deposit here yet :( How about you mtngirl ?
-
February 12, 2018 at 9:53 pm #4214830
Famsix I processed the same day. Did you receive a deposit today?
-
February 12, 2018 at 2:22 pm #4214325LJ
I filed on 2/1 and have not updated on the VT end yet. Frirnds of mine with EiC and CTC received their direct deposit last week so they are definitely doing deposits and not just checks. Im just waiting for my VT to update…
-
February 11, 2018 at 3:42 pm #4213411FamSixForever
thanks for the update mtngirl. My refund states that a refund was issued on 2/9/2018 and to please allow 10-15 days; does that mean no direct deposit this year??? Has anyone heard anything? Ive used direct deposit the last couple years and nothing has changed.
-
February 10, 2018 at 2:02 pm #4212843
Thanks for the update, mtngirl. I checked mine and I was also approved! I know that the last couple years have been a paper check, I’m assuming this will be too.
-
February 10, 2018 at 7:42 am #4212250
I just checked VtTax for giggles expecting no update and surprise! My refund was issued yesterday, says I should receive it in 10-15 days. I don’t see it in pending on my bank account, so maybe they mailed it. At least it is done processing!!
-
February 7, 2018 at 8:34 am #4208230
I have a generic response when I check the VT where’s my refund. “Your return was received on 1/31/2018. Returns are managed on a first received, first processed basis. Due to high volume please allow up to 12 weeks for completion.” Last year my DDD for Federal was 2/23 and my Vt state return was deposited on 3/10. I miss the good old days when my VT return came before my federal return!
-
February 18, 2017 at 5:58 am #4177710
I got my approval for federal this am. Hoping this means that VT will process this week!
-
February 17, 2017 at 9:18 pm #4177247
Spoke to Department of Vt taxes they say they wont start processing refunds with an eic until federal sends approval :(
-
February 17, 2017 at 12:43 pm #4176128
Any movement yet for anyone? Nothing here, except wording seems different. That could just be me thinking it changed when it hasn’t.
-
February 8, 2017 at 9:06 pm #4162608
My VT still says the same thing processing wait 2-4 weeks :( Are they waiting for the Path to be released?
-
February 8, 2017 at 3:55 pm #4162351
Vermont Department of Taxes Yes, because of federal law. Good question! Thanks for asking.
Like · Reply · 19 hrsDiane Stewart Is VT also waiting until Feb 15 to start processing returns with EITC?
-
February 8, 2017 at 3:50 pm #4162348
If you look one of the main feeds they have I asked the question if they were following the IRS and not processing returns with EITC until Feb.15 they replied Yes, so anyone with the EITC will have to wait.
-
February 7, 2017 at 9:26 pm #4161607
Sorry, main feed of igmr, not their Facebook page. A couple of people called in and reported what they told.
-
February 7, 2017 at 9:06 pm #4161593LilBear
All the articles I saw on their Facebook pager were path/federal related, nothing state related to path or delays.
-
February 7, 2017 at 7:47 pm #4161542
Yeah, I agree. But….. there have been some posts on the main feed that indicate that they will not be processing anything until after the 15th and to not expect refunds until last week of Feb.
-
February 7, 2017 at 7:20 pm #4161524LilBear
Reasoning: ….personalized DDD, meaning in my eyes they have approved my fed. Refund. So if I see VT state soon I will post to help verify my theory a bit further.
-
February 7, 2017 at 7:17 pm #4161520LilBear
I think what it means, is that you’re federal can be approved just not released until feb.15. If on path, and once you get the approval federally, the state gets its decided verification to approve yours.
My reasoning is my path msg on IRS WMR, says check back feb.15 for a personalized DDD.
-
February 7, 2017 at 6:08 pm #4161469
I was accepted on the 23rd and showed up on their website a couple of days later. I had previously seen that they would.start processing the first week of Feb, which I am guessing is this week. I just read on the Facebook page that they will release refunds once the federal has been processed. I am not sure what his means with PATH. I have always gotten state before federal.
-
February 5, 2017 at 1:12 pm #4159259
Well now this concerns me. I see two of you are getting the message that the state has received your return. When I check mine it tells me they have no record of my return. They accepted it on 1/23
-
February 4, 2017 at 1:30 pm #4158815
Anyone seeing movement for Vermont refunds? I know they have a new website to check status this year but all I get is it has been received and its processing allow 2-4 weeks. Last year I had refund before the online even updated!! Have called but all i get is I’ll transfer you and no exact answers, except check our online page.

Hey all,
Anyone seeing movement from Vermont?
Or how they’re proceeding in regards to the PATH Act?

Filed and accepted on 1/27. Still nothing. Maybe I’ll see my refund before Easter.

Was accepted 1/31, still haven’t seen any movement on the state site. Just says received. Do we know if they are holding off until March 1st? I did read that somewhere but couldn’t find much else on it.

Has anybody else seen this info? The part about taxes is about 2/3 down. Sure hope this is not true, and they are only holding some like the press release says.

I filed last night around 10pm and was accepted an hour or two later. Worried about delays this year. I was lucky last year and got mine just before it hit the fan. Hope we all show on the website soon!

yeah idk what the deal with TT was. It’s also weird to me that my VT wasn’t accepted the same day as my federal, when for the last several years it was.

I think that TT was late with the forms for vermont because they were hacked last year. I think the vt. dept of taxes wanted to test their software, So if the software was ready to use this morning it seems to me that their ID theft thingy should be resolved. Ir’s just another tactic by the state to make us wait.

I know , let the excuses begin. It’s always something. They should have fixed the id theft thing last year. I have never had any id theft or anything. I read that about the w2’s. I uploaded my w2’s. Let’s see what they have for an excuse for that.

Me too Diane! I got it on the 22nd last year. Very lucky. But, it was also accepted earlier last year. My federal was in the test batch and my VT got accepted that same day. So it was like 5-6 days from date of acceptance. Idk why, but I dont think that’s happening this year. They’re already saying they may hold some returns and match them to W2’s, which aren’t due to them until Feb. 29th…so to me its like they are already making excuses for it taking long.

Hi. I am a fellow vermont resident and I am also hoping there will be no delays this year. I made it through last year by the skin of my teeth.
