Has anyone had their refunds offset for unemployment? I’ve been trying to fight my unemployment case that I was overpaid benefits. They are still saying that I owe. I’m sure someone else has to be in this situation because it took FOREVER to get a hearing date because they are so backed up…now I am waiting to hear back from them. Just wanted to know if someone else was in this similar situation. I don’t know if I should file taxes just yet, because I don’t know what to expect.

Why are they saying you were overpaid? Are they saying you weren’t eligible for that period of time? My husband owed unemployment for an overpayment (we live in CT) and they garnished his CT state taxes but not his federal. If you call the offset line at 1-800-304-3107 it will tell you if you have one or not. There may also be an offset line for your state, but that number is for the treasury (for your federal taxes).

            So you never owed unemployment?

They JUST finalized my return from last year for the same thing, they adjusted on their own but it took them an entire year, the interest they owe me almost makes up for it but two tax returns just weeks apart makes me feel even better about it. One scheduled for the 9th and my second is path so as soon as those deposits start dropping I’ll see another. 😂😂
