First year on a marketplace plan. At no point did TT prompt me for a 1095-a form. Just received it in the mail the other day & now I’m thinking that’s why my refund is taking so long and my bars disappeared. No letter from IRS yet but this has me very concerned. TT really dropped the ball- at no point was I taken to any section regarding healthcare.

Anyone else in the same boat?

If you received even one month from the marketplace it’s required on your return to reconcile payments.

If you used the any tax credits to pay for coverage, it does. You just don’t have to pay a fine for not having insurance this year.

I wonder if it is purposeful?! Many will freak out and pay for a TT CPA to help fix it.

Another filer posted something similar, they did receive a letter for insurance verify. Also filed w TT. I filed w them also, and that had it listed as “optional”. I added my info. As a just in case.

If you haven’t received a letter yet, you’re probably ok. If the IRS has your insurance info from previous yrs, they may not need it.

                  All the best ..

I also did not get “directed” to fill out any information on healthcare from TT. My transcripts codes are consistent with those on the PATH Act just waiting for the DDD or 846 code, so I am thinking it was not a requirement this year.

This is the first year where marketplace insurance is not a federal requirement. It should not affect your return
