TurboTax

I noticed TurboTax is requiring I upgrade this year to claim the credit for student loan(s) and for any child(ren). Especially after they so heavily pushed how wonderful they were to automatically port my information this year. I haven’t paid TurboTax before and I am not about to start now. Anyone try the tax filing through Credit Karma and like it?

I just filed through TT. I did not upgrade. Initially the system stated I did not qualify for the American Opportunity credit. I ended up deleted the student name and info. I then re-entered the information and it went through. IDK why.

We had to pay for the upgrade last year too. As a test batch, we were targeted, then audited. Turbo used to be ok, but the past few years there service and pricing has sucked! We didn’t get our refund until November 1st., and had to go thru two ID verifications and had to get an advocate. Turbos customer service, if you can call it that, could have cared less what we were going thru and still got there money in April. I’ll use them one last time this year, but if it’s much like last years debacle, this will be the last time. Good luck everyone, time to see how bad this year will be!

Turbo always gets the test batches, and because of this, that’s who the IRS was targeting last year. Was told by a advocate last year tha this year would be no different. Good luck!

Not sure what is really going on with Turbo Tax this year with these mandatory upgrades and than your return is sitting in efile pending status. ughhh

I got forced into doing that too with similar deductions however before I filed, I received an email stating that “they apologize for upgrading the account when it wasn’t necessary” and gave me a code to file both fed and state for free.
