First, let’s start off with I believe there is an issue with TT. On 2/10, I received a generic text message, telling me my state and federal returns were rejected. Odd, considering neither were taking them until the 12th, but ok…

I logged into TT to check and sure enough, both were in fact rejected. Why? Because of invalid SSNs of my two dependents. What happened was their SSN’s were transposed, and my son became my daughter and daughter son. This was odd to me, since I imported my 2019 return. No matter, I fixed it.

TT software had asked me about the stimulus, performed calculations and I proceeded onwards. I have not been lucky enough to get through to the IRS, and even validating credit #’s, unable to get my transcripts. I did check the notorious line 30 to make sure I did not claim a credit we already received, and Line 30 is empty.

So, what gives? My return was officially accepted on the 14th of Feb, with my State refund arriving about two weeks later. Two weeks ago, however, my status for WMR changed from bars to: Your tax return is still being processed.
A refund date will be provided when available. There is a TT152 message.

However, if my wife searches under her SSN, same message, except for TT152 is not there. The amount remains the same, however, as we have never had issues filing before. Something is amiss here, and it all started with some oddities from TT, 2 days before my returns should have been accepted by the IRS.

As a good point of reference, go back and review your tax forms through TT or HRB, make sure if you did not get the stimulus you claimed it, but if you did, make sure you did not. Also, verify the SSNs and information that was imported from a previous year. I understand the IRS is overworked, but I still think these tax preparers have something to do with some of the issues too.
