I’m trying my best to figure out how so many people are caught up in this. When I filed with TT on 1/21, it specifically asked me how much I received for each stimulus and I had to manually enter the amount for both dates. Even verified it by looking back at bank statements.

I’m sure there’s some cheating going on and people trying to see if they could squeeze a few more bucks out of the IRS but seriously, not this many. Did people just not check over their return before filing it? Did they skip over that question thinking it wouldn’t cause an issue? I’m at a loss. I don’t understand how TT randomly just inserted money onto line 30 without someone putting in an amount?

          Filed Turbo Tax 2/09 – 1040 ez – Accepted 2/11 at around 11 p.m.

Everything on Turbo Tax looks the same and says I should’ve recieved my refund by now. Yet the IRS WMR tool now shows still processing. Does anybody know why this is happening? Claimed EITC

Also I think people here are overthinking some things.
Line 30 was only supposed to be filled out if you didn’t recieve the full amount

I have been speaking with IRS this last week and I was accepted on 2/10 lost bars as well. I was told CP12 letter would be sent 3/22 and once received refund will be released 7 days later 3/29. Turbo tax is putting amount on line 30 mine was $1000 put in error by tt software. This will be a problem for many!

It’s weird. I filed 1/21 and it didn’t change my amount on 30. Left it at 0 like it should have. In another group it seems like people who filed after that are the ones that it messed up on.

I’m wondering if TT tweaked some software and it caused issues with the stimulus sections.

I filed 2/4, accepted 2/13 with taxslayer. 1 bar went missing 2/19, no tt. N/A on transcript. Over 21 days. I also entered the stimulus manually but I had a baby in 2020 and used lookback for 2019 so $500 was automatically to line 30 based on 2019. It truly is frustrating.

This isn’t a TT only issue. For me with HRB it asked me how many children did I have under 17 at the end of 2020 when going through the recovery rebate section. I answered 1 because I had a 15 year old. Well I also have a 17 year old. What I’m finding now is it added in 1,100 in line 30 as it didn’t count my 17 year old who I did get stimulus money for. Now I fear that’s causing no action on my return which was accepted on 2/13.

So turbo tax inserting stimulus is the reason why so many people are delayed or in errors? Because I got both my stimulus and when asked by turbo did I receive I clicked yes and then got message that according to their records I this is accurate. Then it went on to other questions. I did not check line 30 because I already entered that I got them both

I was one of this individuals that it is on my return without my knowledge. I entered the full amount I received when prompted which was the full amount I was entitled to. Yet, it appeared on line 30. I did not look at like 30. Which is entirely my fault before submitting. But, I also was not aware that it would place anything there. So yes, it is my fault for not double checking. But it is also frustrating that I filled it in accurately yet it was not reported accurately on the form.
