So it seems a majority of 2/22 credit karma users with fees/advance going thru SBTPG got their refund on 21st (with the normal SBTPG updating in morning (PST) and funds to credit karma between afternoon and 530pm (est)
Every year SBTPG has updated in morning I’ve received before 5pm usually between 330 to -445pm most years)
So , 2/23 ddd with ck SBTPG processing here’s holding out hope for us in morning !

FYI…….If you choose to pay your tax preparation fee with TurboTax using your federal tax refund or if you choose to take the Refund Advance loan, you will not be eligible to receive your refund up to 5 days early.

Translation…you will get your deposit same day as your 846.

@nita don’t expect SBTPG to release them early. I’ve gotten my refund on the exact DDD that the IRS gives every time I use TT. SBTPG will hold them until last minute even though they claim not to.

DDD of 2/23 as of the 17th. Called both sbtpg and turbo tax and was able to confirm from both that they have my refund (they got it on the 17th) and turbo tax has been paid for the fees. But that my money will not be released until the 23rd. Turbo tax says they are not supposed to do that. But sbtpg says they are not “holding my refund” what else do you call it?

FYI*****Also….. for those who are wondering why they don’t see any pending deposits from my previous year experience. I never received any type of pending notifications. It would just pop up in my bank account. Everything is instantaneously once SBTG Update their system to FUNDED for your refund usually within a matter of minutes or 1 hour….the deposit hard hits into your account.

I owe nothing that I’m aware of, received no letter, called IRS number, says I have nothing on my account that shows a debt will be pulled. I’ve been doing these boards for years and it took a few tax seasons to realize how certain things work. Now I atleast know what I’m in for when I accept having fees taken out. I still come here every year hopeful, but have solice knowing ultimately how it will end up. No reason to get frustrated, it’s better than paper checks, and we’ll all have our money no later than the 23rd.

Yeah, I’ve been hearing that as well, but no one can actually prove it. Year after year there’s always people saying. It is possible, sure but I highly doubt it. I’ve been using Turbo Tax and SBTPG for year and never got it more than a day earlier than my DDD.

For the record, SBTPG is not legally allowed to hold your money for any amount of time. They are not legally allowed to gain interest on your money.

SBTPG is not a bank, they are a 3rd party processor, they’re just a pass thru from the IRS to your bank to collect fees. They can’t give you the money before they posses it themselves. Don’t confuse them with the likes of Chime who make funds available before they are actually available because they see a pending deposit transfer.

Well, I’ll never use CK again. Or get a refund advance. I don’t know why I did. I always file my taxes for free and use chime. Get it like clockwork the day after my transcripts update EVERY YEAR. The CK card advertises that you get your tax refund 5 days early! I got the advance and fees taken out, so I guess I’m looking at the day of. But I’ve seen people with fees getting theirs and SBTG not updating. Has anyone seen someone with advance and fees get their refund?!

No, SBTPG does not hold your money, they just don’t pre credit it upon transfer notice. They wait until they actually receive the payment to take fees and do transfers. Alot of banks offer “2 days early” and they credit the account upon notice of transfer, not completion of transfer. The later is what SBTPG uses. They wait to be paid before dispersement of the rest of your return.

Technically, banks aren’t in anyway obligated to give you access to your funds before the DDD. I can tell you from experience, Credit Karma, advance or not, will not give it to you before the day before your DDD.

Chime and some others will do it with recurring payroll, government and IRS deposits. But that’s only because they’re guaranteed to go thru.

As a PATHer of 7yrs now I can tell you this,

I’ve filed early before, I’ve file day the irs opens, I’ve filed weeks after the irs opens. My refund still always comes between 2/21-3/1.

I used to religiously check WMR and transcripts, now I just wait a week or so after I file then start checking my transcript (I’m always a weekly) on Friday morning.

Woke up to 846 this morning and I filed last week.

That really comes down to your bank’s policies. Some will, some hold it until the actual DDD.

I use normal bank for the first time in awhile for my refunds, is there usually a delay to the regular ddd or could it come sooner, previous years I used a Walmart Moneycard and for example I received my refund from federal on 2/18/2022.

Looking back at my banking, IRS returns that went thru SBTPG for fees typically hit my Chime account after 5pm EST. But, if memory serves me correctly, they were all also the day before my actual DDD… but they weren’t before a holiday either. So who knows. SBTPG does update throughout the day so fingers crossed.

@Zee I am using Credit Karma car this year unfortunately, however there were a lot of chime users yesterday who updated it yesterday morning like we just did and they started receiving their direct deposits yesterday afternoon so pretty quick turnaround. I’m hoping no later than Tuesday will see deposits. PREFERABLY TODAY!

We should start seeing deposits by the end of day….check BANK ACCOUNT & SBTG site for FUNDED updates throughout the day…lots of people were updated yesterday AM and saw deposits by noon
