This is the first year I have been able to order my transcripts online (YAY!), so I need some experienced help. Here are a few of the basics that might be helpful to know:
(P.S. I did check the FAQ for IGMR, but there are **so** many question/answer lines)

      – What type of transcript should I download (Account, Return, Record of Account, etc.)?

      – What are the key fields I should look for on the transcript? (Processing Date, Code, Transactions, Explanation of Transactions, etc.)

      – What is the purpose or significance of those key fields?

      – What data may not be available right away, but will be available once my refund/return is being processed?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!! And if you think of anything I didn’t ask but should know, please share

This is so great! Thank you!! The bit about all versions of the transcripts being available to download was especially exciting; turns out mine are :D Ok, so, look for NEW 846 code for the most likely DD date, the rest is kinda meh-ish. Got it! Thank you!

**Correction** I meant from N/A to a clickable Tax Year of *2020*,

                4. You don’t need to worry about “AS OF” Dates,

We can only speculate on “Processing Dates”.

For example some of us had a “Processing Date” for Mon 2/24/20 BUT….

their actual DDD was for WED 2/26/20 when Transcripts updated for a final time on SAT 2/22/20 !! It was stressful for those who thought it meant DDD.

So you may have updated but it does not mean a final update until you have an 846 code for FEB or MAR :)

                  2. What we really want is an 846 code but a FUTURE DATED DDD, not the 846 for the Stimulus money dated for early Jan.

                  3. 846 is refund issued, this is the field that gives your exact Direct Deposit Date (DDD)

ok, I looked at recommended link and found it unhelpful for a 1st timer looking at codes too.

                    answer to your ?s…

                    1. You’ll want the Account Transcript for an easier read BUT.. It’s only gonna have updated with the info you need until all the options (Record of Account, Account Transcript, Tax Return and Wage& Income Transcript) are avail AND NOT BLANK.

Although them going from N/A to a clickable 2021 does mean some movement on your acct :)

While it does, it is also a lot to read. With ADHD, it can be easier to have very concise answers to basic questions. But definitely an excellent resource!
