So, I see a lot of people on here saying not to expect your money until the week of the 27th, because that is what the IRS said, and that you will not be getting it until the week of the 27th or maybe not even until March… But nobody is explaining the context of that statement. or WHY you might not see your money until the week of the 27th. Which in turn causes people to freak out and wonder why they aren’t getting their money until the last week of Feb., which causes them to post on here and ask everybody else. So, hopefully I can clear this up a little bit for most people wondering:

There are 10’s of MILLIONS of people who file that fall under the PATH Act. So, the IRS most likely won’t release all of the funds, for ALL of the returns, at the same time or even on the same day. Realistically, it will be staggered based on when you originally filed. So, a PATH Act who filed 1/1-1/19 will most likely get their money back before a PATH Act who filed 2/1-2/7 and everybody else somewhere in the middle.

Now, the IRS has scheduled Direct Deposit dates, and it is highly unlikely that they release any PATH Act funds on the 15th! I repeat, it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that they release any PATH Act funds for DD on the 15th!

All it says is to “Check Back” after the 15th. So, the earliest filers who fall under the PATH Act, will probably get a DDD on the 17th (I would be very surprised if anybody’s DD was the 17th). Now, because that following Monday (2/20) is Presidents day, that means that NOTHING will happen on Monday. No DD’s, No processing, No WMR Update, NOTHING.

So, then we are looking at 2/22 for the first DD’s, now depending on what bank you have it can take UP TO 4 Business days for your refund to appear in your account. Which would land us on the week of the 27th. Also, IRS ALWAYS gives the furthest estimation, which gives them a little leeway, and then if they deliver early, well great! People are happy they got their money early! However, if they give an estimation and deliver late… Well, then everybody is up in arms and calling them non stop!…

So, they SAY the week of the 27th, but if you are one of the earlier filers and your bank doesn’t take a few days to release the funds, then you will probably see your DD in your account sometime at the end of the week of the 20th. If you filed later and/or your bank takes a little longer to process DD’s, then don’t expect to see your refund until at least the week of the 27th.

      Hope this helps!
